Conrad Maldives Rangali Island

Maldives, Indian Ocean

The hotel

At this oasis of luxury, you can relish two palm-fringed tropical islands, as well as a separate Spa Retreat. The resort is linked by a 500-metre footbridge — stroll across and admire the underwater life from above or take a dhoni or beach buggy if that's more your style. Choose from three different luxury resort experiences: beautifully furnished Beach Villas on the main Rangalifinolhi Island, home to the main pool, kids pool and water sports centre; amazing, thatch-roofed Water Villas perched on stilts over the shallow waters off Rangali Island, where you'll also find the Quiet Zone pool; or luxurious Retreat Water Villas, with their own treatment room and jacuzzi, part of the only Destination Spa in the Maldives. You'll also be spoilt for choice when it comes to dining, with eight restaurants across the two islands. Set five metres below the surface of the Indian Ocean is the underwater restaurant, Ithaa, with fantastic 180º views of the surrounding coral gardens and serving exquisite European cuisine.

Conrad Rangali has truly become a home away from home. Food is top notch - try the butter chicken or fish curry at Rangali Bar, the Beijing duck at Ufaa, or Koko grill which is the gourmet top choice in our view. Never miss The Tropical Colada at happy hour at the Quiet Zone or the Rangali G&T at the main bar. Kids Club and program is superb, ideal way to take child away from screen time to have fun, make friends and learn new things. Sunset fishing is really nice and the water sports + team too, also remembering you from previous times and making fun more special, especially for kids. New refurbished villas are really beautiful, spaceous, functional and cosy at the same time. As HHLD ofcourse all bens, upgrades and loyalty appreciated. All in all, I would recommend this incredible place to all my friends, even the most discerning ones (even if I think I may be one of the pickiest ones actually, believe it or not). Enjoy! 🥂😎 Read less

A nice island in Maldives! If you go be aware that you have to book in advance for dinners. The restaurants were fully booked 2 days before and I didn’t liked that I had to go at the bar for dinners. Beside all of that It was a relaxing trip. Read less

We stayed at the Conrad Maldives for the first leg of our honeymoon and it was beyond our wildest expectations. Rooms: We split our stay between a Grand Overwater Pool Villa and a Beach Villa. The overwater villa was private and luxe, we enjoyed snorkeling around and the sandbar (aka private island) that appeared at low tide. The Beach Villa, while less private, was so close to all the amenities. It was nice to be able to quickly walk to dinner without a golf cart ride I recommended splitting your stay between a water villa and the beach to get different experiences. Both were awesome in their own way! Our concierge, Betty, was INCREDIBLE. Quickly answered all questions and made sure we were taken care of every single second. Diving: WOW!!!!!! We are certified scuba divers and came planning to do 1 or 2 dives but mostly relax. We ended up diving almost every day! The scenery was too amazing not to. The dive center on site couldn’t have been better- Andy, the dive master, was awesome. The dives alone were worth the trip! Food: We didn’t eat a single bag thing. We did Ithaa underwater restaurant and had the entire place to ourselves! Once in a lifetime experience. The lunch menu was cheaper and it was nice to have the daylight to see all the fish. Sunset Grill Surf + Turf was probably our favorite meal of the trip. Vilu breakfast every day was also a highlight! Getting to try multiple entrees (free for Hilton Honors) often held us over through lunch. Nizam at Vilu also went above and beyond- truly a phenomenal staff member. (We packed snacks in our suitcase to hold us over some days- worth it to save tons of $$!) Take advantage of the free photoshoot they offer. Our pictures turned out fantastic and are great mementos! Definitely make sure you’re a Hilton Gold or Diamond member before visiting- the perks are too good not to be. We also saw the manager, Carla, around often. Always a great sign to see the manager being active on site! Betty, Nizam, Shark, and Fayaz were just a few of the staff members who made us feel like family during our stay. We will likely come back to Conrad instead of another resort next time just to see these people that now feel like friends! Read less

What a difference a fresh attitude and effort make. What a difference a fresh attitude and effort make. Conrad has new management and they really are making an effort to improve on a resort that has, let's admit it, lost its lustre and swagger (and at the management level became jaded). I think everyone agrees that it cannot compete at the same high level as the Park Hyatt, Four Seasons (either location), Soneva Fushi/Jain, One & Only, etc. It just isn't there. But it seems to have made the conscious decision to at least try to not be cr*p. It seems the main clientele here are Hilton Diamond and Gold members. The Diamond/Gold happy hour (which is a pretty sad and cheap affair) is jammed. A lot of the reviews here also seem to support this conclusion. So a lot of the rooms are purchased by points which likely impacts the reviews here as it doesn't feel the same as using hard earned cash (I know, I know points are hard earned...) The resort is big. And they try to fill the resort. So there are times places at the resort are busy. Very busy (esp at the restaurants/bars). Most people don't go to the Maldives for the crowds. So that was disappointing. Pre-pandemic, the client demographics were high on a particular country known for its pandas and Americans. Keep in mind, I have been a few times so my comments are not focused on particular or the most recent trip. A more general review. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Excellent service but Outdated Villas

Dec 29, 2020 Maltenbe NY

Excellent service and staff! The staff is incredible and always there to ensure every need was met. But overwater vila was outdated, shower door did not close, paint peeling, and no usb plugs or way to connect iPhone 11/12 to media center:( When considering paying over 1200 usd look at quality of room at properties.
