Ozen Reserve Bolifushi

Maldives, Indian Ocean

The hotel

It’s hard to return to everyday life after a stay at OZEN Reserve Bolifushi: the very definition of luxury. Your beach villa is entirely secluded, but still gives direct access to the beach or lagoon, putting you just a swim from one of South Malé Atoll’s healthiest house reefs and five shipwrecks. At your villa, every luxury awaits: an oversized L-shaped pool (you can swim from your bathroom, around your villa, to your terrace), semi-open rain showers, interactive TVs, even adjustable mood lighting. In fact, it will be impossible to holiday anywhere else after you’ve lazed on the daybeds enjoying cocktails at B4R, dined with your feet in the sand at Mu Beach Bar, woken early for yoga in the spa garden and sunk into the massage table in an overwater treatment room. And, with one of the Maldives’ largest kids' clubs and Ice Ice Maybe, the Maldives' first ice rink built from artificial 'Glice', who can disagree?

Royal Residence was built on a secluded side of the main resort island equipped with its own arrival jetty, 2 swimming pools, a restaurant with personal chefs, a gym and an 8-seater Jacuzzi. It was a very short luxury speed boat ride from Male'. The speed boat was very comfortable with its sofa, free WiFi and bumpy-free ride. The Island is huge and the water villa design is very eye-caching. All the villas are very luxury and the facilities. Certainly, its a resort under Jumeirah Group. They have variety of dinning options to fall in love. What I do not like is, their staffs & the service. Staffs barely smile or greet. I have noticed they give priority for the high class guests which is terrible in hospitality industry. I believe this will be improved under new franchised brand Ozen. I do recommend the resort for families, couples and anyone who is specifically seeking privacy on accommodation. Read less

No bumping on rough water, very comfortable sofa seats, free wifi... You would feel like you are in the sky. Once in the resort, their customer service is outstanding. Beautifully designed luxury villas, huge bathrooms, decent size of private pools, private villas if you are looking for privacy. Plenty of dinning options to dine-in. A huge gym with a nice instructor, award winning spa, plenty of water sports to select, certified dive center... I wish to go back again with my family soon in future. Read less

The one star is because the resort put our life in danger and i don't trust them anymore. ITS NOT A KID FRIENDLY PLACE. Please don't go here with your kids atleast. When we were returning from the hotel to the airport we had the worst experience on their "luxury" boat. My little sibling was standing outside when the boat suddenly started shaking like crazy. After a minute we realised that he was standing outside so I ran out to get him to find him holding onto the railing petrified. The drivers did not understand english nor did they warn us about the waves or give us life jackets. We felt sick in our stomach, on my way back after getting him I fell from my seat, the glass jars on the table broke. We kept asking them what is going on and received no response and blank stares, its like they didn't understand us at all. I don't get how can they put all our lives in danger and especially the child who would have literally flown off into the water if we had not acted. The "5 star luxury" hotel refused to take any responsibility for our experience and this is why I won't be returning. Read less

2 things set the Jumeirah Vittaveli apart, the fun water slides and the horrendous offsite customer service. The hotel is closed and not accepting new reservations, given the COVID 19 pandemic, it is understandable. However, there is no need to be unresponsive and inconsiderate towards inquiry emails. The first time, I emailed this specific hotel's customer service directly, 0 response. After a few weeks, I emailed the Jumeirah group customer service, a response was given. I inquired on any updates on when reservation will be accepted and what were the most recent pricing. The response was that they have no information regarding pricing and reservation. I followed up with an email, emphasising that I am looking for information on past pricing, and received no response. The repetitive unresponsiveness, unnecessary secrecy and drama around past rates is exhausting and upsetting. The actual hotel and the actual staff must be amazing and wonderful, however the horrible offsite support is reflecting badly on the hotel before guests even arrive. As a result I began looking at other hotels. The water slides and potentially good services are not worth the drama and obstacles that are in your way before you even arrive at the hotel. Read less

This was my 2nd time to the Maldives. The villa was great, huge, accommodated my mother in law on the second storey and my family of 3 on the ground floor. We had a huge swimming pool, backyard...no complaints about the villa/the cleanliness etc. We decided to stay here as it was one of the closest resorts to Male and catered well for families. It has an amazing kids club(if only my child was old enough, he was under 1), library, lots of activities on a daily basis, spa, gym, diving facilities. The resort is lovely, the diving was great the staff were very professional but as the resort is close to Male the coral reefs are bleached from human activity, so that was a drawback. The spa was great, a lot of treatment huts, and i went for a massage daily. They have gentle activities every morning (i.e. different types of yoga, so you can try dynamic, hatha yoga etc) led by an experienced staff member. I can't compare it to the last time i came to the maldives, because this time i had a child in tow, but I think overall i would have liked the resort to have be further from Male airport, due to the coral reefs not being as colourful as when i went 5 years before. The other issue was that another resort was being built in the distance whilst we were there, which meant it didn't feel as secluded. But the biggest drawback for me was the food. However saying this, i know that the resort is no longer owned by Jumeirah, so the food standard may be better if you go now. Read less
