Sugar Beach comes very close to perfection as a hotel. The location is simply the best in Saint Lucia and possibly the whole Caribbean. The beach and its surrounding scenery are a marvel and the beach is perfectly positioned to take advantage of mesmerising Sunsets. Although the hotel sits within expansive grounds there is a feeling of intimacy and a "boutique" scale which is lacking in more American style "resort" hotels. In short this has all the amenities, breadth of activity you would expect from a resort but not commercial, watered-down feel of a giant beach resort. Our Superior Cottage (315) was extraordinary, felt more like a small private villa than a hotel room. The service was friendly throughout and the dining options were genuinely diverse, specifically delighted at how good the Sushi was as this can always be tricky in more remote destinations. Its the sort of resort where you are sincerely praying on your last day that your return flight will be cancelled. Our friends also stayed at the hotel and their butler Jeff was one of the most resourceful and helpful staff members we encountered - and dealt amazingly with personalised and challenging last minute requests. Will definitely visit again on numerous occasions. Read less

Last night in Saint Lucia having had 4 nights at Cap Estate, 12 in Rodney Bay and 5 in Marigot Bay. Decided to push the boat out and arrive by water taxi (haha!). From the first moments of seeing the hotel and grounds from the boat to leaving with beautiful views of the Pitons from the luxurious taxi that the hotel organised (a reasonable 75USD for a Audi SUV / 55 minute journey), this was an amazing stay due to incredible location, staff, food any art collection. Totally blown away by the art in the communal areas but also in our villa (505). The Great Room restaurant had beautiful local food, perfectly served with good AI level wines. The cane bar was an equal delight sat at the counter enjoting the ambience. We arrived early and used the Jalousie Bar to relax whilst the room was being prepared. Whilst we did not expect an early check in (we did not book via Amex FHR) we would have like to have been informed when the room would likely be ready only because it allows you to plan better (lunch, drinks or a dip in the sea). This seemed to be an impossible question to answer which i don't understand. That said, when we saw the villa which was pretty huge and the personal pool which i was not expecting (it was not an upgrade but seems all rooms come with a pool!), and grumblings vanished. The villa's view, design, size, bathroom facilities (taps, shower etc all are great), cleanliness, art (as mentioned - wonderful. The shuttle drivers were great fun and the service very quick. Very covid safe. Beach service was quick, polite and all part of the AI. Would certainly consider visiting again, ideally for longer, if the budget allows. We would like to visit other islands such as Anguilla again or BVI, but St Lucia took my beath away and it was a real shame we could not visit local villages due to covid. But, that might be the hook for us to return. Read less

We stayed here for 4 nights of a 7 night stay on St. Lucia, celebrating our anniversary. We had an amazing stay here and would stay again in a heartbeat! Our room 705 was perfect with the most amazing view. We wish our pool was heated( we heard other rooms were)because it made it basically unusable, it was way too cold. Upon arrival we were taken straight to our room and checked in with our butler Dillon. He gave us a tour and explained all the amenities. We were greeted with a bottle of champagne and a DYI cocktail, that was delicious. Service was amazing. Our two butlers Dillon and Karen were always there to help with a smile and a laugh. Any thing we needed they took care of, even going out of their way to find us on the beach to finalize plans. Wait staff were also amazing as well. We opted for the All Inclusive plan, which we still have mixed feelings about. We knew we were not going to save money on AI, but there is something to be said about not having to have to count pennies or worry about costs while on vacation. Unfortunately when we arrived, because of Covid, all the menus were different than what was listed/advertised on their website and were very limited for AI plans. We weren't expecting to have to put out more money on top of what we had already overpaid for, just to get some variety. We felt, had we seen how limited it was before booking, we would of chosen differently. That was disappointing, but I will say, I raised these concerns with the hotel and they actually refunded a small portion of the price and made it up to us. This truly is our only complaint and I am sure it is limited to these very unusual times and the resort remedied the situation. We never had issues with the shuttle service, except for the last day. A shuttle would be by to pick us up not even 5 min after asking. We stayed right before the december holidays and the day we were leaving they had a large influx of guests and I am assuming had a hard time keeping up. Also keep in mind people are not sharing shuttles because of covid, so I am sure that added to any issues they were having. Completely understandable. We obviously stayed during COVID and we couldn't feel safer. We were temperature checked wherever we went and they even had people walking around checking temps. Everything was cleaned and sanitized as well as all staff/guests work masks everywhere. We felt safer here than we did at home. Everything else from the service, to the grounds, to the food was top notch. This is truly a luxury resort and they have thought of every single detail. We spent our days lounging on the beach, snorkeling, eating delicious meals, and drinking amazing cocktails. We arranged for a private sail through Mystic Man Tours, which we highly recommend and got a couples massage, that was amazing. We will be back and with our daughter next time. Thank you for an amazing vacation! Read less

Amazing location and facilities, decent wine list, friendly and helpful staff, nice activities on and off the property. We loved our stay in testing Covid times. Quality of food could be improved one notch, in particular the breakfast.
