I'll start by saying we went there for our 10th anniversary and did have a great time on a beautiful island and resort with many options for dining and activities. But the hit-or-miss service became frustrating on a daily basis. It started poorly as before our arrival, I had made it known that the day we arrived was our actual anniversary and had made 4 separate requests that a small gesture be in our room upon check-in; champagne, flowers, fruit, etc. Well at check-in, they asked if our reservation was for any special occasion (as if I hadn't already talked to them) and of course they show us to our room, it was still being cleaned/repairs being made as we walked in on maintenance in the room and nothing for the anniversary! For the remainder of the stay, some Sandals staff were very friendly but it seemed most were put off by simple and friendly requests. The service was on the "miss" side for the majority of our stay; from not restocking our room with requested items, not cleaning our room after the first night, to very long wait time for drinks and the feeling they did not care if and when they served you. For all the staff that were friendly and happy, there were twice as many that were not. Before our visit I had read that tipping was not acceptable, but perhaps it should be to ensure better service and attention. One other item to improve is the communication about transportation options to and from the airport. Many of the reviews I read spoke of motion sickness on the 2 hour provided shuttle ride. So I arranged for the private transfer hoping it would be a better experience and was proven wrong. With the up, down, around, speed, passing other cars at the scariest moments, it felt like a real-life version of Mario Cart. The first few hours after checking in were spent lying in bed trying to recover from the motion sickness. On the departure, I found a ferry service that picked you up right on the dock of the resort and takes you to the airport. This way was awesome and we loved it! Faster than by land and you still felt like you were on vacation as you enjoyed the water, weather and scenery one last time. Also, the crew provided drinks along the way. I highly recommend this to anyone and just wish we did this upon arrival as well. Check them out, hewanorraexpress.com To end with more good, recommend shuttling to the other Sandals to enjoy different scenery & restaurants & the Pigeon Island National Park next to the Grande is a must do hike & visit! The resort is beautiful. The spa is great. I had a heavenly massage by Oma. I have had many massages over the years. I am 60 years old and my massage from Oma was the best. I did not participate in the shows. My ‘maid’ was outstanding. The food was wonderful and the service was impeccable. All of the staff were friendly and professional. Damian, our cab driver to the airport was wonderful. We missed our transport to the airport and Sandals paid for the cab! I am very picky and never give reviews, this is an exception. We highly recommend this resort. We booked two more vacations with Sandals before we left. It is truly exceptional. GO TO SANDALS GRANDE ST. LUCIA! Read less

I know the typical phrase goes in reverse… The good, the bad, and the ugly. However, in this situation I feel that the “ugly” and “bad” need to be explained first. I know the typical phrase goes in reverse… The good, the bad, and the ugly. However, in this situation I feel that the “ugly” and “bad” need to be explained first. I want to start by saying that we have almost 90 nights with Sandals and it actually pains me to write this as I have never had to write a review such as this for Sandals. If it wasn’t for this incident, this would have been a 5 star review. We arrived Saturday at 5:30pm, if you don’t already know, the resort is a good 1hr. And 45 min from the airport. We did the helicopter this time and it’s great, however we still had to wait a good amount of time to even leave the airport with the helicopter and ended up getting there at the same time as the guests who took the shuttle. This is basically an entire day lost (not sandals fault). What IS Sandals fault is the food poisoning my husband and I got Wednesday evening after our dinner at Kimonos (hibachi). Sandals prides themselves on “5 star gourmet cuisine” and this couldn’t be further from the truth based on our experience. We were VIOLENTLY ill all of Wednesday evening therefore leaving us no choice but to see the on property doc/nurse on Thursday. We received IV’s and medication amongst a few other things. This all must be paid for out of pocket as insurance is not taken (they are not employees of Sandals, but contractors). We are now out of pocket $2,000 because of the food served to us by SANDALS. Furthermore, many managers knew of our situation while still on property and we have yet to hear anything from them. We lost 2 full days due to illness not brought on by us and not a word! This is completely unacceptable! Now to the good… the beach and rooms are amazing! Our butlers on this trip (Bailey, Maelika, and Kashima) were top notch to say the least. They ensured we were taken care of every day (even when down) and we appreciate everything they did for us!! The butler manager (Enner I believe is her name, apologies) walks the beach everyday to ensure the guests are happy and is a delight to talk to! We booked a trip at the Loyalty Desk to St. Vincent for next year with a young gentleman (unfortunately I don’t recall his name). At this point I am about ready to just cancel the entire trip and cut my losses. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. My husband and I work hard through the year and look forward to our ONE week away (I’m sure many people do) and we were robbed of this in 2024 at Sandals Grande St. Lucian. Read less
