Just returned after 11 days on Palm Island followed by 4 in Barbados. We last visited 6 years ago and were looking forward to our trip. From the efficient meet & greet at Barbados Airport to the warm welcome once we arrived it didn’t disappoint. The resort was even more beautiful than I had remembered. It has a rustic charm and its own unique personality that you don’t get at larger more sterile resorts. It’s well maintained, very clean and staffed by genuinely friendly and helpful people. Quick example being the young man who came in to replenish the towels in the gym. He saw that we were struggling to set up the soundbar to access some music and came over to assist. We had no issue with the Internet during our stay and managed to watch the England Ireland 6 Nations rugby on our phone with no problems. On our first visit I had a massive problem with mosquitoes and sand flies, and to be honest this had put me off returning. I can honestly report that on this visit I didn’t get bitten at all. I took lots of precautions and used repellents during the day as well as at night and was aware of them fogging the Island regularly which is obviously working. The GM Katie runs a very tight ship and has a hands on approach helping out wait staff if necessary. At one stage during our visit the resort was at full capacity. You wouldn’t have known given the amount of space, levels of service etc. which is a strong contributor to the number of repeat guests. We will not wait so long to return next time. Read less

The staff is absolutely amazing. They took the time to get to know you by name and were always willing to assist us. The food was absolutely delicious. It varied from night to night with plenty of selections, and the seafood was particularly tasty. We enjoyed the day trip to swim with the turtles as well. It was an incredibly relaxing week.

The wonderful, General Manager Katie and her team are such an asset to the resort and the staff were all wonderful and couldn't have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was beyond excellent and the chef would help if needed with questions. Johnny kept the bar in order and would produce anything asked for. We had a wonderful sunset Katamaran trip as returning guests and we went on the trip with Yannas to Tobago Quays to swim with the turtles and feed the Rays. It was a wonderful experience. The rooms were kept spotless, thank you Margaret. We will certainly be back again in the near future. Thank you to all the staff and Katie. Sian and Andrew Read less

This could be the perfect resort: stunning beaches, clear turquoise sea, fantastic watersports, excellent snorkelling off the beach (look out for the turtles near the Sunset Grill), great hiking up the hills (the Cactus trail is best for the view) and wonderful wildlife all around the island (red spotted tortoises, iguanas and three types of heron). The food and drinks are good, served by some of the friendliest staff in the Caribbean. And last, but not least, Palm Island’s Katie is by far the best hotel Manager in the world! But what lets it down is its smoking policy (if it actually has one). Most other Caribbean resorts that we have stayed at are now non-smoking except in designated areas away from other guests. However, at Palm Island smokers often chain-smoked inside the main bar area. Guests also smoked at the tables around the edge of the Sunset Grill. The staff told us this was allowed as it was not under the main roof of the restaurant. However, the wind would blow smoke towards you while you ate. We also had guests chain-smoking next to us on the beach. Please, please, please make this a healthy, non-smoking paradise! Read less
