What are Friends for? Competition Terms and Conditions

By entering the competition, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

VIRGIN HOLIDAYS WHAT ARE FRIENDS FOR? Competition Terms & Conditions

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully prior to participating in Virgin Holidays What are Friends for? competition (the "competition"). By participating in the Competition each participant fully and unconditionally agrees to and accepts these Terms and Conditions.

 

1.  Definitions

 

“Prize” means a £4000 Virgin Holidays gift voucher, redeemable only in select Virgin Holidays Stores and only against qualifying holiday bookings of £2,500 or more.

 

“Competition” means the competition described on http://www.virginholidays.com/what-are-friends-for/as governed by these Terms and Conditions;

 

“Winner” means one successful entrant whose entry is randomly selected from all correct entries received, by the Promoter.

 

“Select Virgin Holidays Stores” means All Virgin Holidays stores

 

“Entry form” means the form to be completed by competition entrants in order to enter the competition.

 

“The Promoter” means Virgin Holidays Limited of The VHQ, Fleming Way, Crawley, West Sussex, RH10 9DF, England.

 

“Terms and Conditions” means the terms and conditions set out in this document.

 

2. Entering the Competition

 

2.1 The Competition is open to UK residents aged 18 years or over (on the day of entry) excluding employees of Virgin Holidays and associated companies, their families, their agencies or anyone professionally connected with the creation and administration of this Competition.

 

2.2 The Promoter reserves the right to verify the eligibility of all entrants and to disqualify any entrant if they have reasonable grounds to believe the entrant has breached any of these Terms and Conditions.

 

2.3 To enter the Competition entrants must complete all information required on the entry form. Completion of the entry form entitles the participant to one entry to the prize draw. [PC1]  There are no exceptions to the one entry per person limit.

 

2.4 Once entered into the competition the Competition entrant can be multiply their entry by the number of legitimate registrations completed using a unique link. The unique link will be sent to the email address entered on the entry form.

 

2.5 Competition entrant’s entries will be limited to 100 registrations per unique link. Competition entrants may not enter more times than indicated by using multiple email addresses, identities, or devices in an attempt to circumvent the rules.

 

2.6 The competition will be open for participation from 10am 27/11/2017 and will close at midnight on 10/12/2017.

 

2.7 Receipt of entries will not be acknowledged.  Late or incomplete entries will be automatically disqualified. The Promoter does not accept responsibility or liability for any entry not successfully completed due to a technical fault, technical malfunction, computer hardware or software failure, satellite, network or server failure of any kind. 

 

2.8 The winner of the Competition will be notified by email no later than 26/12/2017.

 

3. How to Win

 

3.1 The winning entry will be selected, at random, from the list of complete valid entries.

 

3.2 The winner will be notified via the email address submitted at time of entry.  If the winner cannot be contacted within 72 hours of the terms of the notification, another entry will be selected and the original winner will forfeit any prize.

 

3.3 The Winner will be required to respond to confirm eligibility plus acceptance of the Prize within 10 working days of being notified.  If the Promoter does not receive a response from the Winner within 10 working days of notification, the Prize will be forfeited and another winner will be selected from the original correct entries. 

 

4. The Prizes

 

4.1 The prize is a £4000 Virgin Holidays gift voucher, redeemable only against new bookings made between 9am Friday 5th January 2018 and 6pm Saturday 16th February 2018 for departures up to and including Saturday 30th June 2018.

 

4.2 The prize can only be used against qualifying holiday bookings of £2,500 or more.

 

4.3 The Prize will be in all Virgin Holidays stores until Saturday 16th February 2018. The Prize will be forfeited if it is not redeemed and used by this date and no alternative or compensation will be given.

 

4.4 The voucher discount is only available on inclusive bookings which include Flights & Accommodation.

 

4.5 The voucher discount is not applicable to APD, flight taxes or fuel surcharges and does not include Wonderlist bookings, TCD or Fly Drive holidays.

 

4.6 The voucher is subject to availability and Virgin Holidays standard terms and conditions apply. The voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other special offer, promotion or discount including the Frequent Virgin Club, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club and Tesco Clubcard.

 

4.7 The prize is non-transferable, non-refundable and non-negotiable. There are no cash alternatives and the promoter’s decision is final.

 

4.8 The Winner and any travelling companions will be solely responsible for all other arrangements and costs and expenses including but not limited to transport to and from the departure airport, car parking charges, car hire, lounge access, meals and refreshments (other than those made available inflight on a complimentary basis), excess baggage, visas (including ESTAs), local taxes, passports, excursions, attractions, travel insurance, medical insurance.

 

4.9 Once a booking has been made no changes are permitted.  If a booking is cancelled no alternative voucher will be issued. 

 

5. Personal Data

 

5.1 By participating in the Competition the Competition entrant hereby consents to the personal details provided by the Participants (i.e. name and email address of Participants) will be processed by Virgin Holidays for the purpose of running and administering the Competition and for marketing purposes. This data will not be shared with 3rd parties unless otherwise expressed.

 

6.  Other Legal Terms

 

It is a condition of accepting the Prize that the Winner gives consent to the Promoter to publish their name and county of residence in association with the Prize in any and all forms or media as required by law or otherwise in connection with the Competition. The Winner is expected to participate in reasonable publicity.

 

The name and county of the Winner will be published after 8 February 2018 on the Promoter’s website for a period of 30 days. 

 

The Promoter reserves the right to substitute the Prize for an alternative equivalent prize if for any reason beyond the control of the Promoter it is unable to award the Prize.

 

By entering the Competition, the Winner agrees to release the Promoter from any liability whatsoever for any claims, costs, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with the Competition or with the acceptance, possession, attendance at or use of any Prize (except death or personal injury caused by the Promoter’s negligence, for fraud, or otherwise as prohibited by law).

 

Virgin Holidays is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, caused by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Competition or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions in the Competition. Virgin Holidays is not responsible for any injury or damage to any Participant or to any computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading materials in connection with this Competition.

 

The Promoter reserves the right to amend, alter or terminate this Competition at any time.

 

The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

 

The Promoter reserves the right to reject entries to the Competition: All entries that are deemed inappropriate and/or offensive will not be considered; or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other person or contestant. Virgin Holidays reserve all rights to decide what is considered inappropriate and/or offensive.

 

The Promoter is not responsible for any lost, late, misdirected, stolen, illegible or incomplete entries. If, for any reason, the Competition is not capable of running as planned, caused by any causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Competition, the Promoter reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition and/or select winners from all eligible entries received prior to the cancellation.

 

These Terms and Conditions are subject to English law and the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

Your holiday may be affected by the government’s travel restrictions

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office UK have advised against all but essential travel. Depending on when you are due to travel, your holiday may be affected.

You’ll be away before you know it

Your holiday will not be going ahead as planned

Due to the ongoing situation regarding COVID-19, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office UK have advised against all but essential travel before 16 April 2020.

We’re flexible with your holiday plans

If you were due to travel before the end of May 2020, you can postpone your holiday to a later date or even choose a different destination instead.

You’re good to go


In line with the advice from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office UK, all trips booked from June onwards are unaffected.

Rebook your holiday


We’ve sent you a voucher that is valid for the full value of your cancelled holiday. When you rebook, we’d like to gift you with 4,000 Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Miles too. 

But there’s no rush. To redeem your holiday voucher on a new booking with us, just give us a call any time before 31 July 2020 and quote your old booking reference.

If you’d like to travel with us sometime in the future, just give us a call and we’ll find a great holiday for you (and gift you with 4,000 Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Miles as a thank you). 

If you'd prefer to simply cancel completely, we understand, and we will refund you in full. You'll just need to give us a call. Refunds will be successfully returned in approximately 45 days.

Change it up


You can postpone your holiday to travel any time before 31 December 2021, and even choose a different destination. We won’t charge you to make these changes and our Service Team are there to help – just give us a call.

Your holiday is scheduled to depart as booked. Continue to pay off your holiday balance with the assurance that your money is fully protected through ATOL. Be assured, that if the situation changes, we will contact you as soon as this happens with the options available to you.

No problem! To amend your holiday dates, just give us a call. Any amendments to your booking can be made for £50pp, and our Service Team can help you decide on dates, or even a different destination.
