This is my honest review of Sandals Grenada having stayed there last week. We arrived at Sandals Grenada after a long flight from the UK on the Saturday evening. Had a lovely welcome from the staff and checked in within 15 mins. Our room was located near the lovers lagoon very close to the runway. It was large and bed/facilities very comfortable. The location was great and within easy reach of all resort facilities. The only disadvantage was sink and shower was in the same room as the bed so if one of you needed to wash hands or shower in the morning then the other person was disturbed. Also we could hear the aeroplanes on occasions taking off and landing. There were 3 couples at first staying for 15 nights. We had pre booked Butches for the Monday night of our first week. We asked if we could have a table of 6 on arrival, which they kindly gave us. We arrived at 8pm and had a 10 min wait before being shown to our table. However the service was very slow and poor I’m afraid to say. We could see that other tables were the same. The table next to us with 2 guests got up and left half way through their main meal. We have worked in hospitality and soon realised that some of the senior staff were making sure their favourite tables/guests were prioritised. We could clearly see senior staff chatting to returning customers, whilst other staff were rushed off their feet trying to keep up with serving and getting the orders out for guests. Our table eventually got served and we had another lengthy wait before receiving our food. On arrival the food was not to our liking as the steak was over cooked and the mash potato was missing from 3 of the plates. This came out 15 mins after starting our main meal. Just to give you an idea of how poor it was we arrived at 8pm and left at 10:45pm. We complained and left very frustrated and surprised at how poor the service was. We have eaten at other Butches and it’s been excellent. I must say we visited Butches a second time because it was our friends daughters birthday and she wanted to celebrate there and it was excellent. Different staff and we ensured we had 2 tables of 4 to see if it was the table size that flustered the staff on the first visit. We also had problems at the French restaurant having asked for a table for 6 the first time. So we assume the staff prefer smaller table numbers. Our second visit to the French was fantastic when we returned with two tables of 4 guests. I must say that some of the staff in the restaurants seem as though they are not happy working at Sandals. At breakfast they will make you wait at the restaurant entrance before seating you at a table without acknowledging your there. They make you feel as though your not welcome and continue to set tables or walk through to other eras of the restaurant instead of seeing to guests. As a group we thought it was because of our room numbers being standard, but it’s not. They did it to all guests, more so at the Italian at breakfast only I must add. The Manager in the evening at the Italian restaurant went above and beyond to ensure we were happy and enjoyed our experience. On reading this review it must sound as though we had a really bad time, but far from it. We had the most wonderful time at Sandals Grenada. I feel it’s important for guests thinking of booking to prepare for these issues. The majority of staff were excellent and deserve a mention such as Roselle who brought drinks on the beach and provided a waitress service in the living room at night on our second week in the resort. Lemron from water sports was such a wonderful, kind person who made sure our stay was the best. Micah in the English pub was so friendly and a competent bar man. You could see he loves what he does. Joanne who was in the living room and on Neptunes bar was so lovely and made sure our stay was memorable too. Also Alvin who was mainly serving in the evening on Neptunes bar was so lovely, nothing was too much trouble. All bar staff in the south seas pool were amazing too. Dinos pizza team were fantastic. The food at Spices for lunch was delicious and all staff were very polite and friendly. The food at Neptunes was overall very good. Some of the waitresses were not as friendly whilst serving drinks and food when compared to other eateries. We went on the Hobie cats, snorkelling with Lemron and the boat team who were fantastic. There is a 3pm trip over to St George’s and back each day. The water sports guys give you a history tour of the area whilst staying on the boat, which is recommended. We did a tour of the island with Standley Grainger (jnjtours), which was highly recommended. He was so knowledgeable and tailored the tour to where you preferred to visit which was great. Highly recommend. The beach at the resort was not as good as other resorts we have visited. Sunbeds were a problem if you wanted shade everyday. One of our friends was up every morning at 6:30am to ensure we got our usual spot on the beach because we all found that it was too hot to lie in full sun. Saying this they have recently had a delivery of sun beds and Parasols, which should make it easier. I hope this review helps guests thinking of visiting Sandals Grenada. Don’t let my review put you off, but be prepared for some of the issues raised when on the resort. Read less

My husband and I stayed at Sandals Grenada for our anniversary. We have stayed at a couple other sandals Resorts before and by far Sandals Grenada is our favorite. From the time we arrived, we felt the friendliness, hospitality, and safeness of the resort. We had the absolute best butler service we have ever had at any other sandals resort. Our team Butlers Teddy (our favorite ), Ifori and Dennis were amazing! They all catered to our every need! They made sure we did not have to call and ask them for anything! It was like they were in our minds! They made sure they paid close attention to detail while we were on the resort! They knew what food we liked to eat where we liked to hang at and what special amenities we liked in our room and poolside! IFORI was energetic and at the same time calming to talk about things to when it came to life in general. Teddy, (our teddy bear) made things happen by making sure we were kept up on our activities and reservations. Dennis greeted us with a smile upon arrival! Words cannot express how amazing these three guys made our anniversary week! The communication throughout the resort was seamless! If you communicated about something to one person, they made sure others involved with your stay knew about it! For example, I communicated to the housekeeper about some extra things I would need in the room and apparently she communicated the information to the other housekeepers when she was off and they made sure that I had those extras daily! I also would like to thank Shannel, who apparently paid so close attention to our casual conversation at the Sandal Welcome Back Dinner, which helped our Butler Teddy surprise us with an amazing anniversary lunch in our backyard Ronderval pool! Thank you again Shannel for paying close attention to detail! We would also like to thank our photographer Leston? who took some amazing photos of us around the resort the day by ear anniversary, and the night of our anniversary dinner. Not only was it a photo shoot it was also a Grenada history lesson which made the photo shoot that much more special. His ability to educate us on some of the plants and vegetation around the resort while shooting next to it really made us understand just how beautiful Grenada is! The food at the various restaurants on the resort was far better than we’ve had at the other sandal resorts. The resort was nice and clean. The people were so friendly and easy to talk with. The entertainment by the pool in various other areas on the resort by the entertainment team was great! The only thing I have to say about the entertainment team is to make sure you make good on your promise for prizes, because we left and never received our game prize for the relay I helped team sandals participate. They asked several times for our departure date so we expected for it to be deliver by then and it wasn’t 🥹! I worked hard in that relay 😂😂😂. Oh I almost forgot Lenox who service our pool and jacuzzi made sure the temp was just right for how we liked it and followed up everyday! Thanks Lenox you know I live a hot jacuzzi! In all, thanks again, Sandals Grenada for making our anniversary trip an amazing one of all times we really love your resort. Your resort is very beautiful. The food is great and the hospitality is by far the best that we’ve experienced so far and we will definitely see you back soon. Katrina and James Nesbitt Read less

We have traveled to Sandals Resorts in Jamaica (South Coast 3 xs) and St. Lucia (La Toc), but this was our first visit to Grenada and it did not disappoint! We were taken care of by our fantastic butler team of Glendon, Mikhail and Antonio. Our butler team went above and beyond the entire visit, bringing us snacks, drinks, and breakfasts and reserving our place at the pool daily. They went out of their way to make our visit special and provide a personal touch, so much so that we came as friends and left as family. To celebrate our anniversary, Mikhail surprised us with a special lunch (complete with decorations and chilled champagne) in the crow's nest of the Pink Gin Village building which had panoramic views of the entire resort. Overall, this resort staff was the best of any of the Sandals we have visited; we did not want for anything during our stay - whether it be a special meal request, drinks at the pool or providing warm Grenadian hospitality. We would also like to give a special shout-out to Londa at the Travel and Loyalty office. She so much fun to visit with and answered all of our questions to help us book our next trip. Consistent with our other Sandals visits, the food was very good. This was the first location we visited that included Butch's Steakhouse and we very much enjoyed our dinners there. The quality of food was consistent on both visits during our stay and rivaled a midwestern steakhouse. On the advice of our butlers, we had lunch at Spices on the Caribbean day and enjoyed trying Oil Down, the Grenadian national dish. The only slight negative of our experience would be the service at Le Jardinier - both breakfast and dinner. The food itself was great, however, the service was lacking in speed and warmth. Regarding our room, we had a split stay trip - we stayed in the Italian Bi-Level Butler Suite for the first portion of the vacation and the Italian Oceanview SkyPool Suite for the latter part. Both rooms were fantastic - very spacious and updated. However, if you are able to do so, we would highly recommend the SkyPool Suite. We loved having our own private pool and used it in the afternoons when we wanted to enjoy the water without the sun exposure. The water was warm enough that we also used it in the evenings after dinner. We were fortunate to have actual sweeping ocean views in both rooms. (Some rooms in the Bi-Level category have their ocean view blocked by the Pink Gin building) The transit to and from the airport was very easy and less than five minutes away from the airport. Although the airport was so close, we did not hear much noise from planes landing and taking off from either of our rooms. In all, we had a wonderful trip that exceeded our expectations. We would consider this our favorite Sandals so far and will definitely return! Read less

April 2024 was our second visit to Sandals Grenada. We loved our first experience SO much we didn’t think we could top it by trying another Sandals resort, and our second trip was just as wonderful as the first! The first thing I will say is the resort is BEAUTIFUL! We’re told it’s one of the smaller resorts, but we actually like the intimate and friendly feel. I have to share a moment that made us feel warm & fuzzy: watching the dancers perform, we were realizing that there were so many familiar faces from last year, when one of the dancers, Antonio came around high-fiving guests and said “you guys were here this time last year!” We were shocked, and thought maybe it was a lucky guess, but he definitely remembered us - despite the fact that we can’t figure out really what made us stand out! Antonio is not only one of the friendliest faces at Sandals, but a truly talented dancer and crazy hard worker, AND now he feels like a friend! All the entertainment staff deserve a shout out! Working SO hard night after night outing their hearts into their talent for our enjoyment, THANK YOU! Literally every staff member is smiling and friendly, from the hardworking housekeeping and groundskeeping staff, to the restaurant and bar staff (special shout out to bartenders Javon & Mario and Arvin at Neptunes who worked as if he had ten arms!) and Nakisha whose smiling face and sweet personality seems to pop up working so hard at ALL the restaurants, but truly shines in her new role as Butch’s hostess! She made our anniversary dinner there extra special! All of our servers were wonderful, friendly and kind, both in the restaurants and working hard in the hot sun day after day! Special shouts out are deserved for Sherene, Kissele, Antonette and Marie-Donna, and so many others whose faces I remember but whose names have escaped me. The photography staff are wonderful and so fun to work with, and make you look so good even when you’ve been over eating and drinking all week (haha!) Sheldon & Satreme did our photos last year and this year and they are both so talented and helped us capture amazing memories! And Leston is so personable with his big friendly smile and great sense of humor! Make sure you fist bump him when you see him around! And last but not least, Ria deserves a mention too! She works at Island Routes booking your excursions and she (and Leston) joined us on the Chasing Waterfalls tour (which is a must do!!) She was so sweet and fun to share the experience of the rainforest hikes and waterfalls with! And, if you are lucky enough to get Melroy (aka Beetle) as your guide you are going to have a great time! Not only did he and his awesome driving partner keep us safe, hydrated and fed with delicious local food, but we learned so much about the history, the fruits and spices, the landscape and the friendly people of the island! Beetle was so thoughtful, fun, entertaining and educational during our tour! And all around great guy! We really had the best time!! OH! And I can’t forget to mention Ron Beard Rum! Keep an eye out for the nicest rum distiller on the island! Ron & Roxanne make the most delicious rum that you will love sipping at home and reliving your Grenada trip! Save room in your luggage for a few bottles! I want to tell everyone to book their Sandals trip to Grenada, but at the same time want to gate-keep this place that now feels like our home away from home!! Read less

We like to visit various Sandals resorts on a regular basis because SCUBA diving is included and I am a keen and experienced diver. Firstly, we found the pre-holiday information provided by Lindsay at Sandals UK invaluable regarding this trip as I wanted to contact the resort’s dive centre in advance with my details. Disappointingly there was no email response from ‘slswatersports’ at Sandals Grenada, but Lindsay was able to go further up the chain of command and I ended up communicating with Curtis Bailey who was in charge of the diving and who apologised saying this was "not a true reflection of us at the Aqua Center being late". On arrival I had the good fortune to meet Aldith (who happened to be in control of watersports as a whole) for our general induction tour. This lady went the extra mile and signed me in at the Dive Centre, taking all my details, and this before we were even shown to our room! Sadly, this level of service from the dive staff did not continue. On the first day of diving I needed equipment and found some of the other staff just chatting and not wanting to be helpful. This continued on a daily basis until I complained to Curtis and had several constructive meetings with him. It did not help when one day everyone was told there was no fuel for the dive boat and we had to use the smaller boat, which led to more problems. Some equipment was found to be faulty, and regularly a small boat would be dispatched to send replacement equipment to the various dive sites. One dive master in particular was very rude. Again I complained to Curtis, who dealt with Prince. The next day, and the day after, this guy kept apologising profusely to me, which I accepted but I felt this situation should not have happened in the first place. There were some other issues, related to the room, including no hot water for many days, and having to pull up the plug mechanism by hand to allow basin water to drain. We had repeated visits from the maintenance staff, with whom I joked that I should have brought my tools with me. It got to a point where we asked to speak with the General Manager, Peter Fraser. Mr. Fraser was most helpful and rectified several problems. We had several friendly meetings with Mr Fraser, in which we also made him aware of key members of staff that we felt were invaluable to the hotel, namely: Aldith, Kesron, Micah (barman of the Tipsy Turtle), Hezron, Pushadah (in charge of the Neptunes), Alvin, Ricardo, Mathew (director of food and beverage), Katasha, Jamol, and not forgetting Rudy. I was also able to discuss suggestive improvements to the resort which Mr. Fraser appreciated and seemed to find most useful. We had a great holiday at Sandals Grenada and would love to return.
