The hotel

Here you can get a home away from home, but better - as it's situated in 85 acres of pristine beauty and located just before the causeway that takes you over to Sanibel Island and onto Captiva Island. With a two bedroom apartment you've got plenty of space to relax, cook, and enjoy the views of the Gulf of Mexico. Although i'm sure you'll want to get out and explore your surroundings- which include a host of beaches, plenty of restaurants, and a range of activies both on water and land. Nearby are some excellent factory outlets for bargain designer shopping too.

Spent time at Sanibal Litehouse Beach and Captiva was amazing. Problem is leaving the island with tons of stand still traffic. Can walk to Bimini Bait shop for dinner which had good food. 30 minutes really though to get somewhere. Beach - Eh, can swim but not worth spending a day there. Pool - only one pool and it was shut down for two days by the county. Not sure what issues were but pool wasn’t up to code. Very disappointing when only there for a few days. Also they kick anyone out after dusk. Better use the hot tub while it’s 85 out. Grounds - ok. Lot of broke things. Example, can rinse feet off when leaving the “beach” because rinse station didn’t work. Door to unit was a bit of a pain. Bungee chord to help shut pool door etc. Again not terrible but it’s overpriced for what it has to offer. I’d recommend looking around and booking elsewhere. Wouldn’t come back. Read less

No water at check-in, shower stopped working last day, no handicapped parking for non residents. Could not use the pool at night. Great view is the best I could say. No adjustments for problems in an expensive condo.

The staff here is responsive and helpful before and during the trip. We rented condo 131, touted as the only 3-bedroom in the building. Immediately we noticed that the third bedroom had two doors and was noticeably warmer than the other rooms. That's because it was carved out of unit 132 next door. If not being able to control your HVAC for that room will be a deal-breaker, be forewarned. A very good standing fan is supplied, but that's insufficient if you close the bedroom door. The resort staff did enter until 132 and lower the AC, but that room was always stuffy. It would be great, however, if all the bedrooms were supplied with fans because the HVAC cuts on and off very loudly all night long, waking us up. And so do the leaf blowers and lawn maintenance people next door at the Marriott. They fire up at 7 am. A fan would help drown out that noise. That said, we had a great time here. The owner bought a new sofa that has two reclining chairs. We used that every night that we binged Netflix. But speaking of Netflix, this unit does not have a smart TV. I inquired about that ahead of time and brought my Apple TV with me, so problem solved. The unit has a great view of the pool, harbor, and sunset every night. And unless people were moving furniture overhead or the leaf blowers were going, it was a quiet unit. You couldn't hear much above you. The master bedroom has an exceptionally comfortable mattress. And plenty of hangars, which we appreciated. We used the laundry machines and dishwasher daily and they worked great. If you plan to hang at the pool and not get burned, you'll need to do that in the morning. By noon, shade at the pool is hard to find. The condo association only supplies three umbrellas for the pool for some reason. And the beach is pretty much non-existent. There is a small strip of sand with some beach loungers on it, but the beach is as wide as the loungers and that's it. However, being able to go next door to the Marriott for meals was great. Truly enjoyed the shrimp tacos there overlooking the pool and harbor. The Bimini Bait Shack is also nearby and has decent hamburgers and an old school Florida vibe. We found that this condo was an ideally situated location for visits to Sanibel and Captiva, Fort Myers, and even Naples wasn't too far away. We recommend the ResortPass app for day passes to other resorts, too. Overall, this was a good value and we enjoyed our stay here. The owner and the management were both very responsive. I hope these tips will help future visitors plan their trips well, too. Read less
