Difficult to get into Hollywood (12 miles0 - 1 hour driving in an Uber. Not alot to do but walk and eat here. Hotel needs a decent gym and an upgrade - a bit 1980's for us.

This is a really beautiful hotel with modern, spacious rooms and really comfortable beds. They have a balcony and view of the ocean or marina. There is plenty to do and see in this area and the hotel has an outdoor pool and hot tub. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere with an excellent menu. I loved the sunsets and the enchanting sounds of the seals. The best thing however about this hotel is the customer service. I stayed at the hotel before and after an all night flight to Tahiti. I was greeted with a warm and friendly receptionist Chelsea Walsh, and she was able to arrange a late checkout for me the next day. When I arrived in my room I noticed that the lock on my suitcase had been cut off by a random security check between Canada and the USA. A hard tie had been put on that I was unable to remove. She arranged for someone to come to my room to cut it off, but I was worried about continuing my trip without a lock on my bag. We discussed local options to purchsase a new one, but there were none. Then she suggested Amazon. She found a lock and purchased it on her phone, and then because I was leaving the next day, she had it sent to her home. She handed it to me the next morning. There were two locks in the package and they were the kind that security can open and close without cutting the lock. I had not heard of them. I thought that Chelsea went above and beyond to help me and with a friendly and caring attitude. To be away from your home and country and to receive this level of care I think is very special. Thank you Chelsea and all the staff at the Portofino Hotel who made my stay exceptional. Margaret Read less

Lackluster everything for the money. Why no queen sized beds? Why no morning coffee mon-Friday? Why such small cramped rooms?
