I wanted to love this hotel but there were a few things lacking. First, the good: It has a beautiful California Chic look , very hip vibe. The lobby bar is always somewhat happening and location on Sunset is great. Outdoor spaces are beautifully decorated. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was nice albeit dark. The bad: I was sort of greeted on arrival and directed to the elevator to take me down to the check in area, I felt a hotel of this calibre should have someone at the door all the time and an escort to check in or at least an offer of taking your bags. The hallways are dark and room numbers are not the easiest to read. This hotel is big on sustainability so room maintenance is done every other day. I thought since they were all about sustainability they would have water fountains around the hotel to fill water bottles, they did not. There are no drawers in the room, and the nightstand was at a strange angle so everything slid off. Also, the nightstand was metal so my MagSafe charger was stuck to it. This was not a terrible hotel by any means, I just feel there are service issues. This is a Virtuoso property so I feel they need to take a big step up in service. I would consider returning as it was a good location and definitely not a terrible place to stay. Read less

We went to LA for one night for a concert at the Hollywood Bowl and decided to splurge on this hotel. We booked through rewards on our credit card. When we got there, the hotel charged us for the room. I explained that we had booked using rewards and they said it would all work out. That night we get back to the hotel around midnight and there is construction outside. Jackhammering started at 1:30 and went until about 4:00am. Then all night long anytime anyone enters or leaves their room, the door slams and the room shook. Not what I expected from this caliber hotel. Check before you go if there is construction and ask for a room on the other side. Then at check out I asked for a copy of the bill so I could have it in case there were issues with the credit card. They could not provide one! I got one bill that didn't match anything- for valet and breakfast but the amount was completely wrong. They said I would get one emailed. Never did. I had to follow up with my credit card when I got back who called and said you are correct you should not have been charged- they called the hotel and were told we would be refunded the cost of the room but their were additional charges that would need to be paid. Said they would send a copy. of that. Two days later still waiting on a copy of the bill and refund on my credit card.. Not exactly the stress free stay we were hoping for. On the positive side- the use of the house car to take us to the concert was a very nice feature. Read less

It’s comfortable, relaxing, peaceful and checks all the boxes of the nicest hotels. (The beds are so comfy) The theme continues from the lobby, to the rooms to the superb spa- get the hot stone massage and red carpet facial. The hotel staff goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is fantastic and they couldn’t be any nicer or more professional- they really care! Whether you are lounging in the lobby bar- the upstairs bar- at the pool with a great view of LA- or any of the amazing food options- you won’t be disappointed. The only complaint is that you have to leave! Read less

I've stayed at the 1 Hotel several times; it's my go-to in West Hollywood. I love the natural vibe of the hotel—there are plants of all kinds everywhere and the garden courtyard is lovely. The hotel itself smells amazing—it has a signature scent that is not unlike Le Labo Santal. The central location (on Sunset at the top of La Cienega) is conevnient. There are plenty of restaurants (Tesse, Night + Market, Sushi Park, etc.) within walking distance. But the 1 Kitchen is also pretty great, as are Harriet's Rooftop and Juniper Lounge, where you should definitely grab a cocktail. The rooms aren't huge, but they're clean and modern, and have everything you need. Sometimes the hotel can get a little loud, but I've never had an issue that prevented me from getting a good night's rest. Especially after a zzz-inducing massage at the Bamford Spa. The 1 is a wonderful WeHo oasis for adults—but not really suitable for families with young kids. Sometimes folks don't get the memo on this—but fortunately, most of the time they do. Read less
