Canopy by Hilton Austin Downtown

Great 5-nights at Canopy Hilton Austin on 6th. Our first time as a family visiting Austin and this hotel experience was excellent! The hotel is literally right in the middle of the bars and restaurants that line 6th yet, during the day, the neighborhood was quiet and not crowded. At night, it gets wild and we specifically asked for a courtyard room on the opposite side of the hotel, not over 6th. This was a wise decision and we didn’t have any street noise at all. The room was perfect for 3 people. We asked for a roll-away bed and it fit perfectly in the modern, clean, spacious King room we were in. I’m a Diamond member and Hilton takes care of Diamond’s. The daily room service and food credit was great and we used it for Topo Chico and snacks from the lobby! They also have coffee, tea, and delicious cookies for guests and the lobby is really cool with a pool table and big area for lounging! A highlight of the hotel is the service. I want to give a huge shout out to Otelia! She is sooo positive and customer-service oriented. She helped us plan outings and recommended various things to do and places to eat. Highlights included: Sunset Kayaking and Bat Watching on the Colorado River; Terry Black’s barbecue; Sunday Gospel Brunch at Stubbs Barbecue; Torchys and Las Trancas for Tacos; Antone’s for live music; Thrifting by UT and South Congress Avenue; Buying Allen’s & Lucchese Cowboy Boots on South Congress; visiting Fredericksburg; climbing up the steps to Mount Bonnell; touring the State Capitol; and seeing the Solar Eclipse! Thank you Otelia for being so helpful and such a treasure! Thank you Hilton! You provide awesome lodging and service all over the world. This is a perfectly located hotel for anyone visiting Austin! The staff are wonderful. The experience was not. The afternoon we checked in our room was ready a little early which was a nice surprise. The "Bites and Sips" 5-6 hadn't commenced by 5:15 and we needed to leave for an event...so that perk wasn't available to us. We paid $16 for late check out (confirmed at check in) but returned to the hotel around 1 our day of departure and our keys were deactivated. No elevator or room access. Only one person assigned to the check in desk so we had to wait awhile to get access to retrieve our bags from the room. Not calamitous, but certainly upper management could staff enough people to handle things. The room was squeaky clean and comfortable. Read less

I returned to Canopy, and it was a 5-star experience this year. The majority of the credit goes to the staff! The Canopy is in a great location downtown, but it is the extraordinary and friendly service by the staff who make you feel so welcome and feel like family. They are ready to step forward and meet your every need! Special shout outs go to Otelia and Rachel at the Front Desk. Rachel responded quickly to my texts before arrival to make sure everything was in proper order, and she was at the desk to welcome us with a cheerful greeting. Otelia, again this year, also outdid herself! I met her last year, and she was one of the main reasons I booked the Canopy again for this visit. She is just exceptional and is a credit to the Hilton chain. A better employee than Otelia, I believe, would be hard to find. The happy hour champagne welcome starting at 3pm is also a nice touch. The rooms are specious and very clean. I chose a room on the back side this time as the music from the bars on 6th street are pretty loud (until 2am on the weekends) per my last experience. Although there is a bar on the back side, it was not as loud or disruptive. The Canopy provides ear plugs and a white noise machine, but we did not need them on this stay. When I return to Austin, I will choose this Canopy location again. It is just perfect, which makes for an enjoyable stay. Hats off to the entire Canopy crew. Read less

Fernando and Otelia are amazing. Fernando’s welcome was exceptional, we felt like old friends, at the very least. Otelia’s farewell was fantastic as well, so sweet. I could have conversed with either of them for days, probably. As for the property, it was a great experience. All was very aesthetically pleasing. I appreciated the security of needing your key for every floor. Our room was really nice, the huge balcony had a great view of 6th. Read less
