Viceroy Washington DC

The hotel

On the masculine side of sultry, this urban hangout’s dressed in macho greys, with muted jewel accents, monochrome detailing, and warming dashes of wood and distressed leather. It all fits in with the manly ‘cut and thrust’ of Washington DC and the Viceroy's neighbourhood, which they describe as ‘the IT zone’. Steps from 14th Street, the rooms still ooze spaciousness from their former life as apartments. After grabbing free tea or coffee downstairs each morning, you can walk to the White House and other DC delights. Guests staying in summertime can mix days sightseeing with days at the rooftop pool, before joining local crowds at its accompanying bar for creative cocktails and starlit views over the capital.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Modern and nice hotel with a great location in DC

Rooms are spacious, and get cleaned every day. There is always plenty of water for free, as well as free coffee cups - convenient for the morning espresso. Not giving 5 stars simply because the bar (which is an external provider) does not offer great options for breakfast. Restaurant (also an external provider) is a nice one, although prices are high, but so are in general in DC . Ps be aware that the city tax in DC is pretty high. Other than that, completely recommend this hotel - and this is a special thanks to Mike, a friendly and competent receptionist who has helped me out with all requests and solved all issues with a smile ready. Thank you Mike, you truly made a difference for my stay! Read less

We, a couple, stayed 4 nights at the Viceroy. Our standard room with 2 queen beds was spacious, spotlessly clean, had good beds, a hot walk-in shower, plenty of fluffy towels and was quiet since it was toward the back of the hotel, altho it looked out over the outdoor dining area with fire pits. We did hear some party noise late into the evening when there was an event there. What I didn't care for was the breakfast set-up which I'd describe as like a fast-casual restaurant. You ordered your items from the coffee shop after waiting in line to get served, got your coffee in paper cups and then could walk into the restaurant/bar and wait for a runner to bring your food. The food was made with good quality ingredients; some items were more carefully prepared than others. A hotel that bills itself as 4-1/2 stars should have waited service and coffee in ceramic cups with refills. The hotel staff was friendly and welcoming but not knowledgeable when we asked about nearby public transit options. They seemed to expect their guests to use rideshares everywhere. The hotel's location, near the 14th St corridor, is walking distance to good restaurants and on a bus route that goes to the National Mall, tho I had a long wait for a bus on a Sunday morning. I would not choose this hotel for a future visit. Read less

The second time we took both our children and booked a suite- it was sufficiently large enough to accommodate both a rollaway bed and portable cot. It was also great that there was a second bathroom in the lounge, meaning we weren't interrupted or woken during our sleep! We enjoyed a family movie on the huge King size bed and massive TV screen and the children both enjoyed their bath in the soaking tub. It was a perfect stay cation for our family and we enjoyed the Ramen house just around the block for lunch. Only suggestion is that the kids menu needs to be printed/made available on the room service menu. Read less

Did a day use stay (10am - 6pm) as I was in the area for a specific occasion and wanted a place to freshen up between events. Great accommodations. Enjoyed the Swanky decor and interactions with staff were very pleasant and helpful. Will definitely stay again in the future!
