NOTE: this is a PARTY resort. IF quiet, peaceful, calm is what you are looking for, this is NOT the place for you. Breathless is known for its active party scene. Yes there are some areas of the resort that are more relaxed. But over all I would consider this a party party party resort. Themed pool party everyday with a live DJ, people dancing, people singing and people enjoying people having a good time. The staff gets involved and keeps the crowd engaged. Good energy at the pool parties.
I found our king bed ocean view room to be modern, spacious and clean. I found all of the restaurants to above average with the quality of food. I have been to over 20 resorts and I never expect the food to be the most amazing food I have ever had, It's resort food and it has to please people from all over the world, so I don't review the food as my main focus. I found the staff here to be exceptionally mature and kind. Staff is constantly picking up dishes, cups, towels, sweeping, mopping, wiping down tables and so on. The staff takes great pride in the appearance of the resort. There was even a young man in the night club moping up spilt drinks off the dance floor and keeping the floor dry. Excellent excellent staff. The middle pool is large and has lots of different kinds of seating. Very spacious, easy activities in the pool and music that is easy listening.
My thumbs down would be to the size of the beach its self. It is a short/smaller beach. The water is rather rocky and it is very hard to find a swimmable spot. There are chairs and umbrellas on the beach but I found that most people were using the pools rather than the beach. Night club was fun but we noted that each night was the same music. Show Stoppers was not open while we were there. The evening entertainment was nice however I felt it could have been a bit more engaging and entertaining. Stay away from the "vacation package" people. They are very convincing but misleading. We were told that the presentation is next door and is 90 minutes. However, you have to take a cab to a resort 15 mins away and we were there for 4 hours. We were taken to Secrets, this was a very beautiful property and everyone there was exceptionally kind. But when it came to the sales, finance pitch it got a big aggressive. We were asked how we would like to make a 30k down deposit and we never once said we were interested. The pressure to purchase and make a finical decision at the moment was a bit overwhelming. So when we said NO for the 10th time, we were finally shown the exit. So be cautions if you decide to entertain the vacation package for free items at the resort. There is no place to walk to off the resort. So if you are looking to walk to small shops, restaurants or site seeing, nothing walkable from the resort. Stay away from cabs/taxis. The prices are beyond ridiculous. Use UBER, the prices are good and your price is locked in. No tricks or surprises at the end of your ride. And the US Uber app works in Mexico with no problems. I used it several times!!
This is my second time to a Breathless Property. I have stayed at Breathless in the DR and had a fabulous stay. That property was bigger and had a little more to offer. Overall I was pleased with my 8 day stay. I would return and I would recommend to friends looking for an active party resort. I also always felt safe, very little traffic on the beach from other resorts passing through and people selling merchandise.
Remember, this is a PARTY resort! I laugh when I read reviews that say this resort was too loud ..... YEAH it's suppose to be! So book and enjoy !
