The hotel

As the Mauritian drinks cart rolls up to serve you cooling cocktails, while you sink your feet into the white sands of Belle Mare beach after a dip in its turquoise lagoon, you’ll know you’ve arrived in paradise. In fact, it’s so jaw-droppingly gorgeous here, they’ve now reserved Sunrise Attitude exclusively for grownups. As much as you could spend every waking moment on the beach, there’s plenty more fun in store – whether you want to linger at the seaside with snorkelling and scuba diving on offer, or you prefer swimming in one of the two swimming pools instead. However, it’s the authentic touches that really make this Adults Only retreat unforgettable, from the island-inspired treatments at Spa Poz to once-in-a-lifetime cultural Otentik experiences like dining with islanders in their homes, and learning to make Mauritian curries with their local chef.

Where is it

At Belle Mare, on the eastern coast of Mauritius, just 50 metres across the road from the beach. Transfer time from Mauritius International Airport: Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Please note that if taking a seat in coach this may be longer depending on how many hotel stops are en route.

Hotel information

153 rooms and villas. All rooms have air-conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi access, telephone, mini bar*, tea/coffee making facilities, safe, and hairdryer. Couple Rooms are located on the ground or first floor with a furnished terrace or balcony and 1 double bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

All Inclusive option includes: Breakfast at The Market. Lunch at The Social House, The Market, Taba-J, or Papaya, Dinner at The Social House, The Market, or Kot Nou. A selection of local beverages including water, beer, tea, coffee, soft drinks, house wine, and locally manufactured alcohols and spirits. A selection of drinks and snacks at The Bulk Shop corner in Laboutik from 8:00am-11:00pm. Afternoon tea from 4:00-5:00pm (self service: pastries at Taba-J and local goodies near the main pool). Local snacks served with evening drinks. Picnic baskets for guests going out on daytime excursions. Optional breakfast, lunch and dinner in one of the other Attitude hotels (this offer is applicable to a selection of restaurants upon availability, 48h prior booking. Transfer not included). 20% discount on the first massage for bookings between 9:00am-2:00pm (minimum 5 night stay required). All activities unless otherwise stated. 

Couple Partial Sea View Rooms are located on the first and second floors with balcony and 1 double bed (twin beds on request), sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Couple Swim Up Rooms are located on the ground floor and have direct access to a dedicated lap pool from a terrace, featuring 1 double bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Villas have a garden including a yard and private pool, and 1 double bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults

Social House Restaurant and Bar (International and local cuisine, open for lunch and dinner, with tapas style menu in the evening and regular live music). The Market (buffet restaurant open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with live cooking stations and international cuisine). Kot Nou (signature restaurant serving Mauritian cuisine, open for dinner 6 days a week upon reservation). Taba-J (street food beach hut serving local cuisine). Papaya (main pool bar, open for drinks throughout the day and light bites at lunch). Bar 31. Teabaz (tea bar). Beach service available. 

Evening entertainment includes live shows (daily) and a DJ (4 times a week).

The resort is really nice, the staff is lovely. There's really good food and variety. All day there's activities so no time to get bored, CoCo and Chris are amazing. The barmans are really nice and give us a lot of different cocktails and shots to try. There's live music also in the nights.

My husband and I honeymooned at the Sunrise a few days ago, from 10 to 13 May - what a delightful experience! The service was excellent; all staff members were kind, polite, caring and helpful. From the moment we arrived from our wedding at 3 am till we left a few days later, we were treated like Royalty! Lunch at the Market on day 1 was delicious but more importantly convivial, thanks to our super waitress, whom we were happy to see again the next day at the Taba J and the following one at the Social House. We were offered a romantic dinner as a wedding present on Sunday night and our waiter was just awesome, making the whole experience another amazing one! Breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea at the Social House and Taba J were equally great, thanks to all staff members present that weekend, who were very caring and eager to please! (Chana purris on request was a winner for my husband, who loves them and hadn't had some for a very long time.) Unfortunately we can't list everyone's name, but we'd like to extend our warm thanks to the whole team for such a delightful stay! Sunrise attitude hotel was an amazing experience for our honeymoon. From the moment we arrived we were given cold towels and a cold drink after a long journey. Our bags were taken to a safe storage room as we were too early to check in and we were taken to breakfast where we were greeted by Vicky. He gave us tips and information about the hotel which was a great welcome. We asked if we could access our bags to change out of our travel clothes and the bags were brought to a special shower room where we were able to freshen up and change. We went for a drink and were told that our room was ready several hours before it was expected! The room was great and we loved that it didn't feel too clinical and 'hotel-like'. It had a balcony overlooking the garden and you could see the ocean through the trees (it was a garden view room). A couple of days in, we found a gecko in our room which managed to get into the bed one night (don't leave the windows open!!) We spoke to Emmanuel at reception and he insisted we moved rooms and offered to show us a new room so we could make a decision. Upon moving room, it was a beautiful upgrade which was more modern than the previous room. Emmanuel gave us his number and checked in with us each day after the room change to ensure everything was great. On arrival, we were also told that the hotel wanted to give us a special honeymoon meal and were asked to choose our menu. Sebastien was a fantastic waiter during this meal and the food was exceptional. He catered to all our needs and even took photographs for us so we could remember the evening. The hotel had plenty to do - pool, checkers, games, entertainment. The social house was more of a 'club' experience, with DJs, karaoke and rum tasting on various nights while The Market was more chilled with entertainment being singers, steel drummers and dancers. It was nice to be able to choose. The main thing we loved about this hotel is that it did not feel busy! Even at capacity, there were sun loungers free on the beach or by the pools and you never had to queue to get a drink. Staff would bring drinks to you at the pool and remembered your order. Our flights home were later in the day and Emmanuel gave us late check out to enable us to shower and feel fresh for our long flight home which really topped off the experience!
