The hotel

The Landings’ signature cocktail sums up this deliciously decadent hotel, ‘Sweet Euphoria’. An all villa-suite resort, it delivers unforgettable moments like kicking off your shoes and sinking your feet into the sand at Callaloo Beach Bar & Grill — just one of its many dining options — or soaking up views of its private marina or Rodney Bay as you stretch out on your suite’s terrace. You can spend days letting the world drift by as you relax in its four pools, two hot tubs, sweeping sandy beach, and luxury spa and fitness club, or you can ramp up the energy levels with the range of water sports on offer. Little guests have not been forgotten either — they can create memories of picnic trips to Pigeon Island, sand sculpting, and fishing by the bay at their kids’ club or splash around in the kid's pool. Just remember, Rodney Bay Village is only 10 minutes’ drive away if you can bear to tear yourself from The Landings’ luxury.

I have very mixed feelings about this ‘hotel’. On paper it’s nice. The apartment was huge with impressive furnishings and fabulous air conditioning. The pools in the complex were nice and felt clean. But overall the whole experience felt mediocre at best. And it was a very long way to travel for something so disappointing. It didn’t start well: the ‘sit down check in’, which I think was supposed to feel relaxed and executive, took place in the main lobby which wasn’t air conditioned. And there appeared to be a complication that the person who had been allocated to show us to our accommodation wasn’t actually available to show us to our accommodation. It all seemed to take a long time to get sorted and get to our room by which time we were tired, hot and bothered, and I’d gathered my first dozen mosquito bites before I could unpack my Deet. Adding to this frustration, we arrived on a Sunday so only one restaurant was open, and as we didn’t have a table reserved we needed to wait a while to be seated and served. We had booked All Inclusive, but it was the most disappointing All Inclusive I’ve ever experienced and weirdly complicated trying to understand what was / wasn’t included. Sparkling water wasn’t included and was an extra $10+ dollars per bottle. And it felt like a bit of a battle to get soft drinks for the fridge in the accommodation; something that is a given in other All Inclusive places I’ve stayed. I brought my parents here as a birthday and anniversary celebration and paid extra for a private pool. Unfortunately this was in full sight of the main restaurant and it felt uncomfortable. I could go on. The whole ‘hotel’ had an odd feel to it and, with the exception of a handful, it felt like staff were mostly disinterested in being there. In hindsight I wonder if the odd feel might have been because each apartment is individually owned: some owners live there, and only some choose to rent out as part of the hotel. So it’s a mix of residents and holiday makers, though I can’t put my finger on exactly why this would make such a difference. On a more positive note, the offerings from the coffee shop were better than expected and ended up being my main source for breakfast and lunch. When reviewing a hotel I usually consider whether I’d recommended the place to family and friends, and for The Landings the answer is ‘no’. If anyone I knew was thinking of going there, I’d actively discourage it. Though maybe our experience wasn’t representative of the whole so recommend checking other reviews for other opinions. Just got back from a wonderful time at the Landings resort. Our 3 bedroom villa with plunge pool was very spacious (all bedrooms with en-suites), clean and well equipped. Villa was cleaned immaculately daily. We enjoyed having our morning coffee on the balcony, admiring the beautiful view of the marina. We didn't do all inclusive as we wanted to experience local restaurants and the Friday Night Street Party, which was fun. However, the breakfast buffet catered well for all the family and a few nights we cooked meals in the villa. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Concierge team were helpful. The resort grounds were well maintained with stunning beach views. We enjoyed the entertainment that was put on especially the fire breathing and dancing. Downside is that the resort is not within walking distance to the main tourist areas or shops (eg Rodney Bay Marina), therefore we had to take taxis everywhere which was expensive. It would be great if the resort could lay on a shuttle bus service throughout the day to nearby locations for their guests. Also it would have been helpful to have a Welcome Pack in our room to provide information on resort amenities as we had to keep asking the staff what was available. Overall we loved our stay at the Landings resort and were very sad to leave. Read less

The Butler service is poor to non existent. They performed none of the services detailed in the literature provided by the hotel. Example, Butler offered to bring us a drink when the bar opened, we are still waiting and we have been home for 2 days ( lol). Just one example of many. “The Landings Experience” is walking around on a cold tile floor because while they provide robes, they do not provide slippers. Is this luxury or an elevated experience? Just crazy for the cost. No tables or towels readily available at the pools. These are basic amenities and are absent at the resort. Choose another property for the cost. This would be a different review if the price was half to a third of the cost. You will have better luck at a typical Hilton or Marriott. Read less

Wonderful place. Family friendly but there weren't kids running all around. So good for relaxing with the family. After we worked through an AC issue that lasted 2.5 days (READ BELOW), our family of 6 adults plus an infant really enjoyed our stay at The Landings. Our units were a 3-bedroom beachfront and a 2-bedroom beachfront. Both were clean, spacious with spectacular views. Our booking came with butler service, which I highly recommend! Our butlers, Ophelia, Maverick, and Pero, were all extremely attentive and doting on us. Ophelia was our primary butler and she was absolutely amazing. On the flip side, there were two things that disappointed us: (1) Dining choices: We got the all-inclusive and were disappointed with the number of choices for dinner. Dinner has two options (one being buffet) or room service. That being said, The Palms (for the days when it was open) was fabulous and we went there twice. We had room service several times and that actually was pretty good (order from The Beach Club or The Callaloo if possible!) And we were disappointed that the drink options were cheap wine and liquor as this is a 5-star resort. But I would still recommend going with the all inclusive if you do want to drink as the prices for food and drinks are insanely inflated. (2) AC issues We got two units, and the 3 bedroom beachfront 3rd floor unit was absolutely stunning. HOWEVER, when we arrived on a Thursday, the air conditioning wasn't working. The blowers were barely going and all three bedrooms and the living room were between (82-86F / 28-30C). We notified them immediately and their staff was very nice but the problem didn't go away despite them sending various maintenance people over. It seems they were trying to do a major stall, giving us excuses like "it's the third floor and those units struggle more" (our response: do other tourists really put up with 82-86F?) or after a late evening temp check they said "it seems to be cooler than last time we checked" (our response: it's 8PM, the sun has gone down and it's still 82 inside). Unfortunately they didn't have anything to move us to until Sunday. But they did move us then, and we were really able to start enjoying the vacation. I pushed for some kind of compensation for our troubles and at checkout (after reminding them that we had spoken of it earlier) and was given some token credit which we applied to spa charges. So that was helpful, but we would have far preferred to have had a working unit. I came to learn that the units are all individually owned and The Landing manages them and facilitates the rentals. So perhaps their hands were tied with major expenses. I don't know. I'll say that through all this the staff was VERY nice and professional. My recommendation is to call prior to putting down your final payment and confirm that any unit they would put you in will have a working AC. Bottom line: Had we not had the AC issues, I would have given them 5 stars. Read less
