The hotel

A veritable castle in the heart of the city, the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is an impeccable symbol of indulgence and pedigree. Offering the luxury and services of a world-class hotel, all guest rooms are beautifully furnished with every attention to detail observed. Facilities include a state-of-the-art health club, accessible 24-hours a day, with indoor heated swimming pool and saunas. Pilates and Yoga classes are available at the Sitka Studios or treat yourself to some well-deserved pampering at the Absolute Spa. There’s also some prime shopping in the lobby with designers stores selling plenty to tempt you! Although you’re close to plenty of restaurants and bars in the downtown area, the Fairmont’s very own Notch8 Restaurant & Bar is the ideal place to relax and watch the world pass by. Named after a train’s top speed, achieved only by the most skilled conductors, the restaurant pays homage to the hotel’s storied history and legacy as a luxury hotel along the Canadian Pacific railway. A traditional afternoon tea is also served here daily — for a special occasion, add a glass of champagne or, if the kids want to tag along, childish delights include Bubblegum Tea, fresh strawberries and cream and a giant chocolate chip cookie!

Great hotel with great location. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The hotel restaurant and bar had nice food and great service. Nice shops in the lobby and outside the hotel. It's across from the Art Museum, and it's a nice walk to Stanley Park and the bay. Negatives -- the pillows weren't the best (but I am finicky about pillows), the… Read more

It's across from the Art Museum, and it's a nice walk to Stanley Park and the bay. Negatives -- the pillows weren't the best (but I am finicky about pillows), the parking is not owned by the hotel and fees are paid to some other vendor, room A/C is substandard as it might be set on Economy or environmental mode, not the newest hotel and may need to be updated for carpets and tech. The Le Labo amenities were nice. I didn't hear the traffic or noise for a centrally located place. I am not sure how it compares to the Fairmont in Toronto. Read less

A short walk takes you to the wharf area as well Gastown, the historic part of the city. All staff are friendly, helpful and eager to make sure you have a good experience in the hotel. The reception staff are very easy to deal with. I stayed four nights and booked a Deluxe category room, which was well appointed and extremely comfortable. There is a sitting area with sofa, easy chair/ottoman, coffee table, desk and two side tables. There is tea/coffee service and a large flat-screen TV with BBC and CNN. Since this is a historic hotel (built in 1939) windows are regular size. Don’t expect the expansive window vistas found in contemporary hotels. Concierge services are excellent. You can buy your hop-on-hop-off bus ticket as well as tours. They will give you an excellent city map as well as any information needed during your stay. Be sure to stop and pet their beautiful resident Labrador Retrievers - Ella and Ellie. There are coffee shops and a fast, casual restaurant, the Bellagio Cafe, a few doors away. I would stay here again. Read less

In the middle of the city centre. Great location, a wealth of shopping, yet the waterfront is walking distance. I was stunned by this hotel. Wonderful public space. My room was exceptional- massive space, huge bed. Two windows overlooking the surrounding area. Fabulous walk in shower. The staff were so helpful & friendly.
