My husband and I stayed at the Polynesian for 3 nights in the end of April with our son’s family, including a 3 and 6yo (their first visit). The timing of this visit was to celebrate our 50th anniversary. We honeymooned at the Poly in 1974. Unfortunately, Disney Magic seems to be gone now (it certainly was for me). No “welcome home”, no happy anniversary greeting (unless you count the greeting on the room tv screen) and most importantly, our room request to not be near construction was not met. Our reservation was made about 9 months ahead of time. Lots of time for me to imagine the beautiful “resort view” we would enjoy. Our rooms were in the Aotearoa building, which I knew to be closest to the construction; however, I was assured we weren’t on the construction side of the building. It turns out there is construction on both sides of the building. I certainly didn’t expect this “resort” view. Based on our view this resort is dirty, poorly kept, and noisy. Our view was of a dead or dying tree, path or roadway construction (directly outside our room) and included a truck crew using jack hammers. They charge more for water view, why not less for construction views? As for the positives… our room was nice with lots of space and storage and the bathroom and shower was great. We had a balcony, but considering the noise and view that was not enjoyable. The pool area and splash pad were fun for the kids; however the beach was over crowded in the evening for fireworks. All that to say, I sadly would not recommend staying at the Polynesian unless you can afford to upgrade yourself to a better than resort view. Read less

The Polynesian Resort at WDW has been on my bucket list for several years and after the remodel, it was time to take the grandkids. We booked two adjoining rooms and had 4 and 6 year old boys as part of our party. The rooms are exceptionally spacious and the storage areas are plentiful, particularly under bed suitcase storage. The check in process was quick, the grounds are very well maintained, and the rooms were well prepared and clean when we arrived. We were in a Water View level room, 2nd floor, Samoa Building. Excellent location as you are close to pools, beach, and the Great Ceremonial House with all the food and shops. Worth the upgrade price! Housekeeping was good. They missed our room once but came back immediately when we called and cleaned it. They will not clean or enter if you are in the room so keep that in mind for the afternoon nap period. Pools were clean and lifeguards were always present. Chairs were a little short sometimes but we were always able to find some to move together. Splash pad area for very young ones was an excellent addition. Front desk staff were very knowledgeable and able to help us with some Dining Plan issues and recommendations for a 2nd character meal for the grandkids. We never had difficulty locating a parking spot although they were sometimes a short walk of 200 yards. Overall, a great experience and worth the dollars. I occasionally see where guests expect a 5 star experience for the amount of money - it is not a 5 star experience - it is Disney! You are paying for the convenience, theming, and resort experience. Our only "complaint" (other than having to leave and go back to work!) was that the steamers in the room simply do not work as well as irons for pressing clothes. Read less

The hotel itself was fine and the room was recently renovated and clean. Can't beat the beautiful location close to the theme parks. However, the single greatest reason why we will NEVER stay here again is because of the fireworks and loud music blaring over the water every night. If you have young kids (which I've got to imagine is the majority of their hotel guests?), this is complete misery when the kids have bedtime around 8 PM-9 PM and can't sleep due to the noise torture. 10/10 in every way. Hotel is so fun, beautiful, clean, festive, well staffed with the most attentive people. I can’t say enough great things about this place. Smiles from ear to ear from the entire family. Book a theme park view to watch the fireworks and boat show every night. Can’t wait to come back soon.

The place has become so hypercommercialized the staff act like they're working a daycare or need to attend one. The original polynesian has been gutted out and replaced with what looks like bad 3d printing . It's anti social, it's depressing, it's a corporate monster , and there is nothing left of the architects work. The MANAGEMENT here is the absolute worst people I have seen even for Orlando...and that's pretty bad. It's as though they were obtained from incubators of clones. This rubs off on the traveller as it is so bad there is no way to avoid it...the staff are invasive and don't know their role anymore . A hotel like this is supposed to have staff that isn't seen but the staff act like it's theirs and run around in peoples personal space like annoying children... All the authentic south seas shops and dining have literally been removed. The original restaurant is now used as a housekeeping lounge and other employee space...... this building wasnt built for a bunch of mentally ill disney employees.... Read less
