Marriott on the Falls

Niagara Falls, Niagara

The hotel

If you’re wanting to get the best up-close experience of Niagara Falls, then that’s exactly what the Marriott on the Falls will give you. When we say close-up, this is the nearest place to stay to those three famed Falls — Horseshoe, American and Bridal Veil. If you want to get even closer, you’re in the perfect spot to head out on a boat on the waters. But you don’t have to if you don’t want to, as the hotel has an observation deck, a restaurant where you can eat and admire the views, and rooms where you can open the curtains each morning to the sight of the spectacular rushing waters.

We had the most wonderful view of the waterfalls from our room on the 28th floor (out of 31 or so). I'm not sure how good the view would be lower down - of course, getting a room on the 'city view' side is essentially pointless. We had the most wonderful view of the waterfalls from our room on the 28th floor (out of 31 or so). I'm not sure how good the view would be lower down - of course, getting a room on the 'city view' side is essentially pointless. The room was generally clean though a little worse for wear and there were a couple of Reese's Peanut Butter Cup wrappers by the window. Bed and sofas were comfortable. Jacuzzi tub was good. We didn't order room service as we didn't feel it was good value for money with all the taxes. Speaking of taxes - beware the hotel will try to charge you a 'Local Fee' and a 'Destination Amenity Fee', both of which you CAN ask to be removed as they are fees, not taxes; be really wary of these as the price really does add up. The same is true for anything purchased from the Starbucks in the lobby or the Milestones restaurant. My partner was watching the rugby World Cup final on one of the TVs in the lobby at 5.00 a.m. and was treated very rudely by a member of staff who demanded to see proof of his stay in the hotel, and when our room card was shown the member of staff simply walked off, no apologies offered. Overall worth it for the view, but probably wouldn't return. Read less

When we checked in we mentioned that it was our 40th wedding anniversary. We had been in our room for about an hour when there was a knock on the door. Standing there was a young lady holding a bottle of sparkling wine, two glasses, a plate of chocolate covered strawberries and a handmade 40th Anniversary card. Can you believe it! We were so touched that the staff would be so thoughtful. So There we sat in our beautiful room with our breathtaking view of the Falls sipping our wine and eating our strawberries. What a wonderful start to a great vacation. Read less

We had asked for a high room with a falls view. In our booking we had mentioned this was a special holiday celebrating our retirement. Check in was smooth and efficient and the room was exactly as we had requested with a magnificent view complete with two double beds. In the room was a bottle of wine and some chocolate treats as a gift. There were no faults with the room or the hotel and it was very clean and comfortable. The free pass for the bus around the town was a very useful addition to the hotel package. As regular travellers we highly recommend this hotel. Read less

Great hotel, everything was very good. We did not have a view room - $80 a night additional was more than we wanted to pay, as we are not in the room that much. Friends did have one though, on the 24th floor and the view was fantastic. However, each floor has a large window by the elevator, so we got our view of the falls from the 8th floor while… Read more

Friends did have one though, on the 24th floor and the view was fantastic. However, each floor has a large window by the elevator, so we got our view of the falls from the 8th floor while waiting for the elevator. It was still a very good view. Everything at this hotel was very good. We ate in the restaurant and all 7 of us were extremely pleased with our orders. Husband and I had pasta bowls and should have shared one -- they were huge! Also, do not miss the made to order omelets at breakfast - best I've had. We would never stay anywhere but this hotel if we're in the area. Read less
