Marriott on the Falls

Niagara Falls, Niagara

The hotel

Well it doesn’t come more aptly named than this! The superb Marriott Gateway on the Falls really does serve as the ‘gateway’ to all of Niagara and, having undergone a recent multi-million dollar renovation, it’s as awesome inside as the view is outside! Choose between a City View Room or a Falls View Room — both are very comfortable indeed with modern amenities and plenty of space. If you haven’t got a Falls View Room, no worries, you can see it from just about every other window, including the Milestones Fallsview Restaurant, where you can feast your eyes as well as your stomach! The restaurant features one of the best views around and dining at night is even more of a treat courtesy of the nightly Falls Illuminations and the periodic fireworks. Other amenities include an indoor pool to splash about in, a whirlpool, an expansive fitness centre and the fallsview terrace and observation deck. What’s also worth shouting about is the complimentary breakfast served to guests on the Mezzanine level — a great way to kick-start what is guaranteed to be a great day.

I see why this hotel was voted number one! The minute we stepped into the room we were overwhelmed by the spectacular views of the falls. Our room was at the end of the hall, this affording us a position right where the water breaks over the Canadian Falls. It didn’t get any better than this! Our room was at the end of the hall, this affording us a position right where the water breaks over the Canadian Falls. It didn’t get any better than this! The room was very spacious, a great seating area for watching the fireworks every night, and the staff was extremely accommodating. Definitely our “go to place” when we come back. O Canada 🇨🇦, eh! Check in: Came at around 4:30 pm to check in and was told our room was still not ready even though on the booking it said check in time was at 3:00 pm. Was not impressed given the price we were paying. They should have more housekeeping staff at peak season. After checking on their computers again, they found a room and gave it to us. Was not impressed given the price we were paying. They should have more housekeeping staff at peak season. After checking on their computers again, they found a room and gave it to us. That whole experience left a not so good first impression with us. Room: The room was very spacious and clean. Beds were comfortable and the couch area with the table is very useful. Only downside is there isn't enough lights... the rooms were very dark and we couldn't find a switch at the entrance to turn out the lights in the room. had to walk all the way to the nightstand and the couch to turn on the lights and even then it was still too dark. Location: Located at the end of the row of hotels in a quieter area but still very accessible both by walking or by WEGO bus. Hotel provides us with 2 bus tickets as part of the resort fee so that was useful. Driving and parking is convenient as well. Lobby Bar: We came when they were about to close but they still offered to give us the 2 complimentary drinks. That was very nice of them. Read less

Seems to be a typical hotel and not not what I had expected from Marriott properties. Hot water was scalding hot and unsafe for small children, no safe in the room for personal items and the mysterious "Resort Fee" in the final billing. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

This was our first trip to Niagara Falls and we were only staying one night so we researched and chose our hotel very carefully. We decided to pay a bit extra for a room overlooking the magnificent falls and I have to say we were not disappointed with our choice. We were on the 27th floor with the most amazing view. The hotel is so well designed and the view simply takes your breath away. The room was modern and the interior was perfect in the calmest and simplest of ways. The bed was so comfy. Staff were lovely and let us check out a couple of hours late. I really didn’t want to leave! Ignore those leaving negative reviews some people expect the earth! Read less

Floor to ceiling windows looking over the Falls, what more can you ask for? We have never been to the Falls before, so this hotel was a must for us to experience it the best way. TIP: it cost us $40.00 to park here, FYI. Right out front is a bus stop to take you to the Falls, TIP: free bus passes at the hotel, and a free drink in their bar. I… Read more
