Our recent 2 week stay at Calabash was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived we were looked after beautifully. The staff were attentive , thoughtful cheerful welcoming in every thing they did. Clearly everyone who works there takes great pride in what they do and nothing was too much trouble. The food at the more formal Rhodes restaurant and at the Beach Bar was delicious. Every meal we had was presented beautifully and a daily chefs special allowed a good variety of dishes to choose from. We didn’t have a single bad meal. George and AJ made delicious cocktails every day The beach front setting is so peaceful and relaxing with more than enough sun loungers beach side as well as around the pool. The gym was very well equipped and being able to book a slot in advance allowed you to visit when you wanted to. The hotel more than lives up to its reputation as the best in The Caribbean. We could not have chosen a more perfect setting to celebrate our special anniversary. I can’t name all the staff personally as they were all so very very good. Thankyou to them all. Read less

We had to wait a long time to revisit but everything was as we remember .Managed to stay three weeks ( a little bonus for having stayed away so long) and for 10 days our daughter was with us- having spent so many holidays here when she was much younger. As soon as we arrived, we received the usual Calabash warm welcome and that friendliness from everyone at Calabash never faltered from start to finish. So lovely to recognise so many staff who have been there years , some as long as we have been visiting - nearly thirty years and some second generation staff as well which says a lot about the hotel. Our room. - de luxe suite was excellent , well equipped and positioned and kept so spotless by the lovely housekeeping team. We always love the cocktails and canapes , the start to a lovely evening and thanks to Michael , George, SherLyn and the irrepressible Morissa who always kept an eye out for when we returned from the gym, we had something to look forward to. The gym, incidentally, is one of the best equipped of the many gyms we have experienced throughout the world , spacious and very well equipped with sensible booking requirements for covid protection. The Rhodes Restaurant is still a masterclass of what a great restaurant should be. The ambience is special, the menu is excellent , especially with the daily specials ( possibly something the Beach Club could also do for lunch ) and the service is very professional and yet lightly informal at the same time. A very strong professional team led by Michael and SherLyn with George who always seems to know what you want to drink before you do! The Beach Club restaurant is equally good , the setting is great and again service is very good under the leadership of Desi Ann well supported by her excellent staff . Clearly getting more popular for breakfast and possibly needs to open a little earlier as guests seem to like eating early , especially if they are diving or going to yoga or going out. Two or three times we asked for alternative dishes at lunch and the seafood pasta was delicious. The beach bar is still such a lovely hub and thanks to Leslie Ann and AJ for looking after us so well at the beach and the bar. A very professional team at reception , never ceasing to smile and always ready to help. Not forgetting the garden , maintenance , beach teams who were always smiling and keeping the grounds and resort in excellent condition , although I did miss the golf putting course which I think got " flooded out" but hope might be reinstated sometime. Yoga was excellent and the food classes were fun and informative. Scubatech continue to provide some great dives and snorkelling together with the various watersports available. Even managed to fit in spa treatments which were most enjoyable. We were lucky that entertainment was re-appearing after the earlier curfews and we had enjoyable evenings at the Rhodes Restaurant and particularly three nights of the steel band who were excellent. Difficult these days to review without commenting on covid precautions . The hotel dealt with them all very professionally , advising before arrival of precautions and it was good to see that most, but not all, guests followed the mask wearing advice and hand sanitisation was available throughout. We also liked the chefs circulating occasionally as it is important that they should gain feedback - almost certainly mainly compliments! For us what makes Calabash so enjoyable and one of the best hotels we stay at ( and why they win so many awards ) is the attention to detail and professionalism of ALL the staff , coupled with the renowned Grenadian friendliness. We can't wait to see you all again next May. Read less

Calabash deserves every superlative that has appeared on Trip Advisor. As mature people who have lived and travelled all over the world I have to say that Calabash is probably the best we have known. Why? I think it is simply because of every member of staff. Totally professional yet highly personal service from everyone. They are a credit to their training and to the hotel. If you add beautifully appointed suites, lovely gardens and a delightfully shady, sandy beach, food of the highest quality both at the Beach Club and the Rhodes restaurant then it all becomes perfect. We were lucky enough to stay at Calabash for five nights in the beginning of November 2021 to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary. I don't even know how I can summarize how much we loved this trip - from start to finish (and after a stressful time getting our COVID PCR trips), this was such a relaxing, perfect experience through and through.. to the point that we didn't even end up leaving the resort for the entirety of our stay! Despite traveling during COVID, we felt so safe being at Calabash, and they handled our Rapid test coordination so we could head back to the US. Staff all wore masks and guests were asked to as well when interacting with the team and not sitting to eat/drink, which everyone seemed to comply with. The room/grounds: We stayed in a pool suite, which was beautifully appointed. Each suite is named after a different flower and all have gorgeous views of the perfectly kept grounds. Our suite featured a separate living/sleeping area and then had a huge back patio with a plunge pool, outdoor shower, and tub. The bed was an absolute dream, we both said we slept the best we have in years, and having the pool space was also really nice to relax in. Each room also features a balcony/porch space, and we spent a ton of time outside taking in the grounds and sky views. We opted in for the All Inclusive option, so had access to everything in our minibar, so it was great to have that outdoor space to enjoy a glass of wine (or few) during sunset. The team: Honestly, the amazing people who work at Calabash are why we'll come back. The resort is STUNNING, the food incredible, and beach is wonderful, but it's so rare to have a team of such caliber that's the perfect mix of fun and professionalism. From the Beach Club/Beach Bar where we were fortunate to meet Leslieann, AJ, and George who kept the wonderful conversations and drinks flowing, to Desiann, Kaydell, Miguel, and Kenrick who provided exemplary service throughout our breakfast/lunch experiences, to Michael who celebrated 30 years at Calabash - and knew who we were before we could introduce ourselves.. we were blown away by the people we met. We were also so grateful for Morissa who made us laugh while still remaining so polished and professional, and Sherlyn who provided such wonderful dinner service. We are so grateful to you all! The concierge team was our first point of contact, as I got into pre-trip Type-A prep and asked (too many) questions via email. They were always polite despite me being a bit over the top and coordinated so much for us in advance and gave insight into what we could expect. Shari, Chenelle, Regan, Sheena, Shante, and Serena - THANK YOU! Not only did they get us settled so perfectly, but during the trip I experienced an awful allergic reaction that resulted in welts all over my neck/chest (this started before we got to Calabash, not a result of anything there) -- the team had someone going into town and they stopped at a pharmacy on the way to pick me up Cortisone cream. Talk about above and beyond!!! The food/drinks: I am going to be dreaming about the food we had during our time at Calabash until we get back. I cannot speak more highly about the quality of the food, the gorgeous presentations, the specials, the options. Everything we had was absolutely incredible, and we ate breakfast/lunch/and dinner at The Beach Club/Rhodes each night during our stay. The views from each restaurant are absolutely stunning. This is where the all-inclusive package basically paid for itself, because with so many options it was really nice to explore the menu so openly and try a bit of everything each day. Seriously, those grilled fish tacos at the Beach Club, the panini, the beetroot and goat cheese bruschetta, and coconut shrimp... this is going to be my workout motivation to get to the next trip! Rhodes is also impeccable, with rotating specials each day and a menu that had the best fish I've ever eaten. Chef Castillo, hugest props to you and the team for such amazing talent! The drinks are also wonderful, with even the house wine being delicious. The amenities: -The beach itself is the hugest draw. My husband and I have stayed at other places where you have to wake up early to fight for a spot at the beach, but Calabash allows you to relax and know that you'll be able to head to the beach at any point and get a spot that works for you perfectly. My husband always stays in the shade and I'm a sun worshipper, and we were easily able to find that balance each day where we both got exactly what we needed to sit and read. -The yoga class offered by the hotel was the best class I've ever taken, and I've been practicing for 15 years. It was my husband's first ever class and he now wants to try to do a class once a week. Such a wonderful session that left us feeling great spiritually and physically. -The cooking demo offered by Chef Castillo was so much fun - I'd never think I could make ceviche, but will definitely be adding it to my cooking resume! -The spa is also WONDERFUL - I had an amazing facial with Rosemarie, and my husband had a massage with her as well and came back so happy and recharged. The prices were incredibly reasonable given the provided service too! Truly - thank you to everyone at Calabash for making our fifth wedding anniversary so special. The DeCosmo's cannot wait to come back and see you all again! Read less

Can a hotel be described as magical? Well, Calabash is quite possibly the most magical luxury experience one could ask for. My wife and I chose this location for our honeymoon and we could not be happier with that decision. On countless occasions during our weeklong stay, we looked at each other in disbelief over how this destination exceeded our expectations. There’s a reason we saw only 5-star reviews before coming here and we are leaving a 5 star review ourselves. First and foremost, we have to compliment the staff. From the emails and phone calls before arriving, to the driver that picked us up at the airport, the front desk staff, the cleaning staff, the waitstaff, the bartenders, the yoga instructor, the spa, even the people taking care of the grounds, everyone wanted us to have an enjoyable experience and we felt so taken care of. Over the course of the week, we got to know our servers and bar staff by name and they were incredible. No ask was too big or too small and they made it so easy. The attention to detail was impeccable and it is probably the main reason we plan to return. Breakfast on our balcony or at the Beach Club was a luxury to start the day. The private beach never felt crowded. We loved receiving fresh fruit juice while lounging on the beach. The water temperature is perfect (we traveled in October) and the trees on the beach offer plenty of shade if you want it. The view of the boats in the bay with a perfect backdrop of colorful sunsets makes this location paradise. Lunch at the Beach Club is literally right on the beach. There isn’t a bad view in the house and everything we ate was delicious. We had afternoon tea every day and as avid tea drinkers I have to say, the tea was very high quality. Our favorite meals were dinners at the Rhodes Restaurant. We could have had food delivered to our suite but again, the service is just so incredible that we ate in the restaurant every evening. Walking in and starting with a drink (George always took care of us and made great recommendations) before sitting in a picturesque open air restaurant was something we looked forward to every night. We arrived at various times depending on whether we spent more time at the pool that evening and there was always a table ready for us. The menu has certain items every evening and Chef Specials that rotate every night. We never got bored of the food. We especially enjoyed every soup option, but there are really some excellent appetizers and entrees to try, all of which were well-executed. And don’t forget dessert. Grenada is the Island of Spice, and the house-made nutmeg ice cream is such a treat (along with the caramel ice cream, fruit sorbets, chocolate tarts, basil cake, and more). Speaking of Grenada, we have to complement the Covid safety precautions required to enter the country. As of early September 2021, the government has required that all non-residents over 16 years old be fully vaccinated, provide evidence of a negative Covid test, and quarantine/take a test upon arrival. As soon as we arrived at the airport, we had our health authorization forms and negative Covid test forms checked, immediately followed by our Covid tests, administered by the Grenadian Health Ministry. We quarantined at the resort (which didn’t hinder us from taking advantage of all of their amenities) before getting our negative results within about 24 hours. The hotel also worked with our schedule to have Covid tests arranged before we left (required to fly back to the US) so we didn’t have to think about it. It gave us peace of mind to know that Grenada/Calabash had such clear protocols in place, which helped with any anxieties about traveling we otherwise might have had. The staff was also great about wearing masks themselves. Covid aside, Grenada is a beautiful island. After we got our negative test results we were able to hire a private tour guide, Simon, with Hidden Treasures Hikes, to take us on a hike and drive us through the island. Sure, come for the beaches, but don’t forget the mountains! The landscape is stunning and the vegetation is lush. We hiked to two of the Seven Sisters waterfalls and we can’t wait to go back and discover more of the rainforest. Not to mention the local roti (street food) we had, which was delicious! We also did some snorkeling and checked out the underwater sculpture garden. Lot of fun to swim with colorful fish and see something so unique. It was really a challenge though to decide if we wanted to explore the island more or just relax at Calabash. That’s how you know this place is special. You can fall in love with the country while you’re here or you can just relax at the resort and let all your worries melt away. We stayed in a Westview Suite on the second floor. There doesn’t seem to be a bad suite/view in the resort. We opted for this suite so we could have a little extra spending cash for the excursions we went on and spa treatments/etc. The suite was plenty spacious with a nice shower and two zoned AC units that kept our room nice and cool when we needed to escape the heat. As one of the hotel staff members told us, the only predictable thing about the weather is that it’s unpredictable. There were umbrellas in our suite for us to use, and they came in handy for a bit of rain and a few brief downpours, but the rain never hindered our experience. It’s a Caribbean island, it’s going to rain at some point (especially during the time of year we went), but we had more good weather than bad. Our only complaint is that we had to leave! We met other guests who have come to Calabash multiple times. This was our first trip here and it will definitely not be our last. We can’t wait to visit Grenada again and to experience such a magical luxury boutique resort. Thank you again to all of the staff at Calabash! Till we meet again!! - E and T Read less
