The hotel

This little hamlet of hideaways creeps up the lush hillside from Grand Anse Beach, one of Grenada’s most sought-after shores. Subtle and sophisticated, its 27 villas and suites are capped with terracotta roofs and dressed in soothing beach chic décor – but each has a pop of ‘seaside sunshine’ in homage to your Caribbean setting (if your sea view isn’t enough). The chic pool follows suit, with neon furniture in electric lime, tangerine, and blue, while the beach brings calm with its rattan love seats, beachside spa treatments and yoga, complimentary non-motorised water sports, and Beach Cabana restaurant, serving barbecue lunches steps from the turquoise waters. Many villas have their own kitchen, but most head to Savvy’s for dinner anyway, where produce from Mount Cinnamon Resort & Beach Club’s garden and nearby plantations confirm its status as a leading eco-lodge.

The hotel's beach with cabana and water sports is a short walk down through the hotel's well-kept gardens. All meals excellent. The villa had full facilities for cooking and laundry, which we didn't use but some long stay winter visitors were self catering, and it suits that ideally too. Locals friendly and not pushy. Ideal location, both on Grande And beach, close to St George capital, and 10 minutes taxi from airport but no noise form it. Highly recommend. Read less

Grenada was generally the friendliest Caribbean island that we have been to, when out and about and lost in the hills no end of people helped. I write many reviews and don't generally leave negative ones but I feel I need to point out a couple of things some of which are beyond the control of the hotel but some of which are. On arrival after a near 3 hr delay, (the flight) we were somewhat disappointed with the reception we received, straight to the filling in forms and no offer of even a glass of water until we asked, not what I would have expected. We stayed in the Cinnamon suites and the views are superb, the room was 5 star spacious plenty of seating, coffee machine fridge and balcony. The pool area is very small we did not see a single person in there in the week we were there, but then why would you with such a beautiful beach. Mount Cinnamon is at the more exclusive end of the beach. The resort is set over an extensive area 10 minute min walk to the beach from our apartment the closest to the beach. Yes there is a buggy that can take you down if you can get hold of reception. The rooms do not have a landline but instead a mobile which is very modern if you can get it to work, we have i phones so it was not the technology just the phone! We took it to reception a few times but still had no luck. With a husband with mobile issues I then had to walk to reception and back frequently to arrange transportation. I feel landlines would be a great benefit to the resort. Breakfast area was lovely, though there is a road directly below the terrace which was noisy during our stay mainly due to the hotel being built next door, yes up the hill but still next door. The cooked breakfast was great but the buffet lacking in fruits/variation you would expect in a resort like this even though small, service was slow. If you are a vegetarian be sure to speak with mangement/chef before dining in the evening as there is only one option and the staff we spoke to did not seem to think there would be any alternatives. We dined all over and this was one of the most expensive for what it offers. The gardens are beautiful and all of the staff work very hard to maintain them. The beach location is idyllic the cocktails great but again mixed staff and slow, yes I know we were in the Caribbean but they were the slowest on the island.I attended the yoga which was very relaxing. Taxi's are fairly easy to get though reserve in advance as they can take a while to arrive if waiting at reception. On the whole a beautiful resort very carefully looked after in a lovely location, the let down for us was the lack of staff hence slow service and lack of communication in lots of areas. I pre requested soya milk a few times before arriving, it was not there on arrival or at breakfast though they went out for some which I received later that day. I left feeling a bit inconvenienced if i'm honest. Top marks though to the friendly security men who would take us to the beach in the evenings and stand guard, as the beach cabana is only open on a Friday. For this reason alone we would not go back as we like to sit with our feet in the sand in the evening with a cocktail, that is after all why we went there! Read less

This was our third visit to Mount Cinnamon, so that speaks for itself. We have visited a lot of different Caribbean islands and Grenada is one of our top choices to visit. We would rank Mount Cinnamon as one of the best places that we have stayed, if not the best. Near the end of our stay, I overheard another guess say "I can't see how anyone could say that they didn't enjoy themselves here." Anyone posting a bad review on this place is probably just a complainer or they had something happen that is totally out of the normal experience that one is likely to have here. For point of reference, we are in our early 60's so unless you have serious knee problems or other physical limitations, don't be concerned about the walk up and down the hill from the beach. And the elevation gives the rooms a great view. We stayed in a 1 BR Hacienda suite with a full kitchen, 2 full baths and a washer and dryer. It was equipped with everything you need. A minor maintenance issue was corrected promptly. While this is not a new property (other than the Cinnamon Suites section), maintenance seems to be good on the units and they have a real Caribbean vibe. What we appreciate the most here is the great service of basically all the employees. This is a small resort where they get to know you by name and nearly all of the staff seems genuinely friendly and eager to make your stay enjoyable. I'd give an extra shout out to Shauna, Judy, Petri-Anne, Tahira, Waddell and Skakeem, but our experience with all the staff was very good. The Manager Mark and Business Manager Kevin are also friendly and visible all over the resort. The location on the end of Grand Anse Beach is arguably the best section of the beach and the beach area is not overcrowded like some resorts. They have paddle boards, kayaks, Hobie Cats and other activities all included. Food is, of course, up to personal preference, but we especially enjoyed the breakfast (included in room price) and the Savvy's Beach Grill. They focus on locally sourced where possible, which we appreciate. The Beach Grill is only open for lunch other than Friday nights, when they have a Beach BBQ with live music. This is a fun night so be sure to do that. There is a well equipped IGA grocery store about a 10 minute walk away, if you need to pick up a few items or are cooking some meals yourself. This is billed as a smoke-free property, although we did occasionally find ourselves downwind of smokers around the beach area, and moved around to avoid that. Grenada is a very scenic island and there are some interesting things to do. For visits to the land attractions, I highly recommend you book with Ashton's Taxi and Tours. He is a great guy, knows the island well, and can customize your tour to see whatever you like. The desk at the resort will also call him for you. We have used him each of our visits. He also provides transportation to and from the airport. The locals are quite friendly and the island feels safer than most Caribbean destinations, but remember that you are in another country, so always exercise some caution. Read less
