Mount Cinnamon

Grenada, Caribbean

The hotel

This little hamlet of hideaways creeps up the lush hillside from Grand Anse Beach, one of Grenada’s most sought-after shores. Subtle and sophisticated, its 31 villas and suites are capped with terracotta roofs and dressed in soothing beach chic décor – but each has a pop of ‘seaside sunshine’ in homage to your Caribbean setting (if your sea view isn’t enough). The chic pool follows suit, with wooden furniture in vibrant colours, while the beach brings calm with its rattan love seats, beachside spa treatments and yoga, complimentary non-motorised water sports, and Beach Cabana restaurant, serving barbecue lunches steps from the turquoise waters. Many villas have their own kitchen, but most head to Savvy’s for dinner anyway, where produce from Mount Cinnamon Resort & Beach Club’s garden and nearby plantations confirm its status as a leading eco-lodge.

Mount Cinnamon is a beautiful, boutique resort on pristine gardens in the hillside and has a beach cabana on Grand Anse where you can see St. George's from across the bay. The team/staff at Mount Cinnamon are the warmest, friendliest, most accommodating and just the nicest folks. The resort and facilities were excellent but it's all of the staff, whether it was front desk, dining room, sports, spa, housekeeping, transportation, management, everyone, that made my trip the most wonderful experience. I traveled solo but I was made to feel that I was part of the Mount Cinnamon family, I was greeted by name when my taxi pulled up to the resort, everyone made me feel like we've been friends forever. A nice perk that helped me not feel so alone was that the front desk team gave me a cell phone so that when I went anywhere or needed anything, I would have access to them at all times, so when I went to St. George's, when I was finishing my dinner in town I called Reception and they sent a driver to pick me up within 10 minutes. I stayed in a Cabana Suite, it was beautiful. As soon as I walked in the door, the outside wall was all glass, I had the most amazing view of the gardens, Grand Anse Beach and could see St. George's in the distance. The room was bright and cheery, temperature very comfortable. I always have issues with hotel beds because of back issues and never get a good night's sleep because of pillows, but this was not the case at Mount Cinnamon. The bed was so comfortable as were the pillows, I was well rested. Each night I came "home" to turn down service and cookies on my night stand. My room also had a SmartTV, mini-fridge, coffee maker with supplies, I didn't need for anything. The resort also has many suites with full kitchens and all cooking and eating supplies (pots and pans, plates, silverware, etc.). I did peak in when they were being cleaned, they are beautifully decorated, also bright and cheery, these suites are up the hill. Don't worry about having to walk, the Mount Cinnamon staff will give you a ride in their golf-like carts. Lots to do in my opinion. They have a lovely swimming pool with a water fountain, they're on the beach, they provide use of non-motorized water sports but you can still access motorized water sports if you want, they have a volleyball net, tennis courts, lawn chess, croquet, they will arrange for tours/sightseeing, nice neighborhood to go for a walk (BBC beach is a nice walk up the street), they will provide recommendations and arrange for dining reservations, and the spa services were unbelievable (I treated myself to 2 treatments, she's fantastic). There isn't anything they won't do for you. I feel that the resort did a great job at managing the COVID quarantine and curfew regulations. Each time you walk into the lobby you must use the hand sanitizer machine that also takes your temperature, and is logged for contact tracing. After my COVID test at the airport upon arrival, the lab notified Mount Cinnamon and they let me know that I've been cleared to go into the public. They also had the lab come to the resort to give me my COVID test prior to my return flight to the USA so I wouldn't have to seek out a location, and once they were provided the results, they made sure I had the necessary paperwork for my flight. While I was there the island was under curfew. The resort would alternate which restaurant was open each evening so this way our view and menu options would be different each evening. They even had theme nights during curfew which made it fun. On the weekend when the island was in lock-down, it was rib night, and they were delicious. On the following Friday night when curfew started for the weekend, it was Caribbean night with a bonfire and s'mores, all the sides are the same you just choose your protein. It's lobster season so I had the grilled lobster, it was beyond amazing. Chef grilled the lobster perfectly, it was so juicy and tender, it was amazing and my favorite meal of the week. I had great dining experiences every day, never had the same meal twice and everything was delicious. I traveled solo and I thought Mount Cinnamon was perfect for me. But I also met alot of other guests, whether they were couples, honeymooners, families, I think Mount Cinnamon is a great fit for all traveler/group types as they were so accommodating to everyone and there's a room style to fit everyone's needs. I will definitely be traveling to Mount Cinnamon again, I loved it that much, but it's the staff that take it to the highest level. Read less

If I had to describe our time at Mount Cinnamon in one word I would say ‘Amazing’’ a place where you arrive as a guest and leave as family. Let me start from the beginning. We had an awful experience at the airport and arrived at Mount Cinnamon to a mini cocktail reception hosted by Kevin, (the attentive Manager) and the delightful Carlene, (the Assistant Manager). I was travelling in a family group of 20 and immediately our woes disappeared. The restaurant was kept open and we were served beautiful dishes with locally sourced ingredients that looked like they were straight from the Masterchef kitchen. After dinner we were escorted to our villas and rooms by the lovely Terrell who quickly learnt the names of all in our group. Myself and my fiancé stayed in a two bedroomed villa which was stunning with views to die for. The villa was spacious and had everything we needed. It was well appointed with beautiful finishes which definitely had a boutique and modern feel. Our room had a four-poster bed, a large wrap around balcony which included a day bed, a dining area and a BBQ area and a washer and dryer. We had vast amounts of wardrobe space which was a lovely surprise We couldn’t fault a thing. From our first morning and throughout our 21 day stay Kevin and Carlene would pop to the restaurant at breakfast and speak with our family and other guests asking how we were enjoying our stay, checking if we needed anything and offering assistance when it was needed. Our family had the all-inclusive package which included fruit, pastries and cakes followed by a full breakfast of your choice. The lovely team including Amanda, Jade, Stefan, Carthyba and Ashlynn attended to our every need. I mentioned I loved cocoa tea and the lovely Ashlynn made some for me every time she was on duty. If you can persuade Jade to sing for you breakfast time you will be in for a treat and the air would be filled with her beautiful voice. The reception team Samantha and Shauna were always happy to assist with calling cabs to arranging additional services when they were requested and were always pleasant no matter how many times they had to ferry us up and down the resort in the golf buggies and were always happy to answer our questions. Mount Cinnamon is in the most beautiful setting and has the most beautiful tropical garden leading on to a gorgeous beach setting and I was lucky enough to get married there. If you are looking for a wedding venue in the Caribbean look no further take my word Mount Cinnamon is the perfect venue and your special day will be overseen by the visionary Carlene. From the moment we had contact with Carlene she assured us that despite planning our wedding from abroad everything would be in place on the day. The day after we arrived Carlene arranged for me to meet with the chef, the bar manager, and the cake/pastry chef to ensure all my wishes were understood. Carlene listened to how our dream day would look and made it happen. She arranged the flowers, the 3 course menu, cake, the priest, a soloist, a band and she didn’t bat an eyelid when I made last minute changes 2 days before the ceremony. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she remained calm throughout the day making sure the bridal party were attended to. I can only describe our day as magical, thank you to Carlene for your professionalism, your care and for giving us exactly what we asked for and for your attention to detail. The rest of our stay was amazing, days at the beach and the Cabana where we had lovely lunches and dinners, bonfire nights and the entertainment was fabulous. Mount Cinnamon had a great entertainment schedule and we danced many a night away Every day Sedrick would ensure that our family had the perfect setting on the beach.. We arrived at Mount Cinnamon as guests and when we left, we felt like family. Special thanks to all the Mount Cinnamon team for the love, the laughter and for making us feel so welcome and for making our stay so memorable. All the staff were so friendly and everything about the resort was amazing I cannot express how lucky you would be to stay here. I would like to say a special ‘thank you’ to everyone for going over and beyond and for exceeding our expectations. Kevin, Carlene, the superhero Amanda who went and collected our young people when they stranded, Jade, Stefan, Christopher, Ashlynn, Samantha, Kathy Ann, Shauna, Terrell, Kemon (always with a smile), Kimron, the housekeeping staff, chefs and kitchen staff, bar staff… we will return and will not hesitate to recommend the hotel even with those with mobility issues as the golf buggy service ensures that all enjoy their experience. My family and I have just spent an INCREDIBLE 2 weeks at Mount Cinnamon in Grenada. Cannot rave enough about the fantastic staff and gorgeous villa - not to mention unbeatable position right on Grand Anse. The 3-bedroom villa was very well appointed, housekeeping was exceptional - the children got very use to the good night cookies that were dropped in each night! The breakfast was also to a very high standard, French toast, full English and pancakes a typical favourite on our table - along with the fresh fruit and juice. By far the best part of Mount Cinnamon is the beach cabana which is positioned right on the beach. It really is the perfect spot. We made use of the hobbie cat, small float (used to take our 3 year out to the man made and natural reefs right in front of the hotel - featured a glass bottom viewing hole so he could see all the action - of which there was plenty!), sand toys, beach volley ball net, lawn sports and of course the swimming pool which was great for a sand free activity. The tennis court and gym both looked incredible but we didn't get around to using. A family highlight was the Friday evening bonfire. We had our dinner at the cabana for 6pm and by 7pm the bonfire was being lit. Kids got to toast marshmallows and Sedrick was brilliant at helping them all create yummy s'mores. Location-wise the hotel is walking distance to a large shopping centre, plus an incredible sushi restaurant called Carib Sushi (husband is a sushi addict and says its the best he has had!). Covid-wise we felt very safe and could see the staff had implemented procedures for all - but that didn't impact our enjoyment at all. The only problem we have now is explaining to our children why we can't live at Mount Cinnamon... !! Special mention to Kevin (manager, he really went out of his way to ensure our stay was nothing short of exceptional), Samantha (front desk, so sweet and considerate), Jade and Ashlin (our breakfast serves each morning, always greeting us with smiles and getting good at knowing what we wanted before we ordered!), Sedrick (beach cabana and s’mores master, helped with anything we needed down on the beach), Lincoln (groundsman, our 3-year old adored him as Lincoln interacted with him so nicely and would make a fuss of him) and of course Deslyn and Janice (hard working cooks who did an amazing job with the food every day). The room, the beach cabana, cocktails and service in general were all as good as we had before. As many have said, the view from the new Cinnamon Suites is world class. What worked less well was the room service breakfasts. We consistently ordered something to be ready as early as possible so I could be ready to dive. The breakfast was ordered for 7 and came between 7.20 and 7.55am and once we gave up and walked down. If what we were asking was too hard given staff shift times, they should have said. Read less

Just back from a 10 day stay at Mount Cinnamon. From the first welcome, carried out by the manager Kevin, right though to the last farewell, was friendly and efficient. Nothing was ever too much, from ordering cabs and trips, recommending local restaurants, right through to organising a Covid 19 test. The site is rather hilly but a series of electric buggies are always on hand to whisk you to you accommodation, or up from the beach bar. The food was excellent and a mixture of European and local. Despite being a party of 10 covering three generation with an age range from 74 down to 6 we all found something to amuse us. Might not be next year but we wil be returning. Read less
