The hotel

This little hamlet of hideaways creeps up the lush hillside from Grand Anse Beach, one of Grenada’s most sought-after shores. Subtle and sophisticated, its 37 luxurious villas and suites are capped with terracotta roofs and dressed in soothing beach chic décor – but each has a pop of ‘seaside sunshine’ in homage to your Caribbean setting (if your stunning sea view isn’t enough). The chic pool follows suit, with wooden furniture in vibrant colours, while the beach brings calm with its rattan love seats, beachside spa treatments and yoga, complimentary non-motorised water sports, and Beach Cabana restaurant, serving grilled lunches steps from the turquoise waters. Many villas have their own kitchen, but most head to Savvy’s for dinner anyway, where produce from Mount Cinnamon Hotel & Beach Club’s garden and nearby plantations confirm its status as a leading eco-lodge.

Quite a hilly walk up to our room so be prepared. Breakfast buffet a bit limited but an excellent choice from the menu plus a good egg station. We ate dinner at the hotel a couple of nights and it was good but there are also plenty of places to eat out: Sails/Dexters/La Luna/Aquarium were all good and 60 degrees west on Grand Anse is really good for lunch just avoid the cruise ship days as it gets busy at that end of the beach. We went hiking to the waterfalls and did an afternoon catamaran cruise - both were great fun. Grenada is authentic Carribean unlike Barbados and much more to do than St Lucia/Antigua. Read less

It would be remiss if I were to let the year end without writing this review about beautiful Mount Cinnamon Resort in Grenada. My husband and I vacationed at Mt. Cinnamon to celebrate our 44th anniversary back in late August. We had reservations at another resort but, disappointed with the accommodation, decided to look for another place to stay. We booked at Mt. Cinnamon Resort and it did not disappoint. From the moment we entered the property, we were treated as special and valued guests. The resort is set in the beautiful hills that overlook Grand Anse Beach with views “to die for.” The views of the ocean, shoreline, and surrounding hills, from the suite, were breathtaking and simply stunning. For me, it was instant therapy! In addition, the room was a calming oasis, immaculate with a modern island flair that was so inviting. We loved everything about the room, including the large modern bathroom, chic living area, and lovely veranda. Let’s talk about the grounds! I have stayed at resorts with beautiful grounds, throughout the Caribbean, but Mount Cinnamon was the “crème de la crème.” The gardens, throughout the property, are beautiful, laden with vibrant colors of flowers and greenery, a variety of plants, trees and shrubs creating a lush, inviting, and therapeutic atmosphere. The Beach – Grand Anse beach is awesome! Often voted as one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, if not the world, it offers two miles of uninterrupted powder-white sand, shady coconut and sea-grape trees, and inviting turquoise waters. The Staff: Again, I have visited several Caribbean Island resorts and loved the staff, but at Mount Cinnamon, I give the staff “rave” reviews! They are simply outstanding! We were treated like special family. Rohan at the reception desk was kind, friendly and extremely professional. He made us feel so welcome. Garrett, the front desk manager, is one of the best in the business. My husband became ill a couple days after arriving and Garrett and his staff took such good care of us. Thank you so much Diannethea, general manager; Christel and Rondell reception and front desk committee; Tahira, reservation specialist; Jennifer, Ashlyn and Isha, breakfast hostesses; and Afaro, resort driver. Truly, you exceeded all our expectations! Thank you so much for making our stay at Mount Cinnamon one of the best vacations ever! Can’t wait to come back! Blessings! Read less

We booked a last minute trip to Grenada to celebrate my wife's birthday and decided to stay at Mount Cinnamon from October 27 to November 3, 2023. From the time we arrived to the moment we left we were treated more as friends than guests. Grenadians are generally quite friendly but the Hotel's staff was outstanding. We will always remember the great chats we had with the well-travelled Masha who is not only a terrific conversationalist and storyteller, but is also blessed with a dazzling smile and infectious laugh. Shauna also deserves to be mentioned for providing us with excellent customer service. Everyone, without exception, was friendly and when we asked for something it was never a problem - we were lacking a bar of soap and while we said we were willing to wait until the following day, it arrived at our room with Shauna within 5 minutes! In terms of amenities, our room (Cinnamon Suite - CS 13) was spectacular with a large balcony from where we enjoyed an awe-inspiring view of Grand Anse Beach and St. George. Mount Cinnamon's location is perfect because we could walk to the grocery store, the Spice Market and other restaurants. We could even get to all these places by walking along the beach! The Hotel is probably 1970's but our room appeared to have been recently renovated with a nice, clear picture smart TV. Things are pretty up-to-date in terms of technology as we were given a cellphone to contact the lobby, a cab via WhatsApp, and so one. In our room, they included 2 British-style adapters which we could use with our North American plugs. The hotel is situated on a hillside which is a bit steep but affords outstanding views; those who prefer not to walk uphill to their suite can always take one of the ever-present hotel shuttles to their room from the lobby as well as the beach. The Hotel grounds are lush with mature trees and flowering bushes and the beautiful vegetation continues to the beach, delighting the senses along the walk from the Hotel to the beach (approximately 200 meters). Every time we arrived at the beach there were always fresh towels available as well as loungers and umbrellas. One could also conveniently get cocktails or other beverages at the beach restaurant during the day (charged to your room). The Hotel and its beach location are at the end of Grand Anse Beach so it's quite private and quiet. If you want action, simply walk down the beach towards the Spice Market and you can mix with the friendly local population (see my review of Umbrella's restaurant). In conclusion, while Aruba claims to be "one happy island," Grenada is at least twice as friendly and happy, in our opinion. We very much intend to return and could not give it a higher commendation. I've included a photo of the bay taken from our balcony as well as pics of the hotel and the beach. Enjoy! Read less

I would give this 5 stars but they dropped the ball on our 6th day. The beach is the best on the island. They had complimentary hobie cats that we took out each day for a sail. The gentleman rigged it up each day and helped us push off. He was so friendly and helpful! The breakfast each morning was fantastic. Each day they had a different fresh juice and different baked items. It had anything you could want. Very nice to not have to go anywhere first thing in the morning. The Nespresso machine in the room was also a nice touch. Savvy’s restaurant was good, reasonably priced and handy. I would highly recommend this resort. Read less

The hotel offers complimentary shuttles, but we enjoyed the hike up and down each day! The food was excellent (we had the fresh catch most days for both lunch and dinner) and staff was very friendly. We went fishing one day and the hotel chef even cooked the fish we caught for us! Shauna organized all of our off-site excursions and taxi pickups (the ATV tour and full day island tour were my favorite). We also had a lot included with the special we chose when booking (a private dinner on the beach, couple's massage, photoshoot, and sunset cruise). Everything was perfect and we can't wait to come back! Read less
