Mount Cinnamon

Grenada, Caribbean

The hotel

This little hamlet of hideaways creeps up the lush hillside from Grand Anse Beach, one of Grenada’s most sought-after shores. Subtle and sophisticated, its 31 villas and suites are capped with terracotta roofs and dressed in soothing beach chic décor – but each has a pop of ‘seaside sunshine’ in homage to your Caribbean setting (if your sea view isn’t enough). The chic pool follows suit, with wooden furniture in vibrant colours, while the beach brings calm with its rattan love seats, beachside spa treatments and yoga, complimentary non-motorised water sports, and Beach Cabana restaurant, serving barbecue lunches steps from the turquoise waters. Many villas have their own kitchen, but most head to Savvy’s for dinner anyway, where produce from Mount Cinnamon Resort & Beach Club’s garden and nearby plantations confirm its status as a leading eco-lodge.

Gorgeous room with a fantastic view over Grand Anse, St George’s and the mountains behind. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast that really sets you up for the day - make sure to try the local specials that change every morning. Location is very convenient for the airport, shops and the beautiful Morne Rouge beach.

The hotel is a short 15 minutes taxi ride from the airport and we were greeted by the manager Mark and his staff. We were offered cold flannels, the obligatory rum punch and a neck/shoulder massage, all of which were gratefully received. Staying in one of the new Cinnamon Suites we had a WOW moment when shown into the room with a wonderful view from the huge windows of the whole bay, right upto the capital of St George's. The room was just right, with a lovely balcony and came with a kettle, iron, fridge and a coffee machine. We had 7 lovely nights sleep on a really comfy bed. There is some building work going on at the hotel, creating some more rooms further up the hill and some work closer to the beach at an adjoining property. Although we could hear bangs etc. from time to time, both in the room and on the beach, it was minimal and did not impact our stay. We stayed on an all-inclusive basis, which seemed to be the exception rather than the norm, and therefore like everyone else we had to sign for all meals and drinks. I guess that is to give everyone the same experience which is fair enough. The food at Mount Cinnamon was excellent with the steak and catch of the day being particularly good. The menu stays the same, but there are plenty of choices and there is apparently the option to ask for other dishes if needed - we didn't feel the need. You can also order pizza for delivery to your room which is a nice touch if you want to just chill in your room. Breakfast and Dinner are served in the restaurant in the main building that also houses reception, with lunch and the Friday night BBQ taking place in the lovely beach cabana which is situated a 20 yards or so from the water's edge. Wifi across the property, both in the bedroom and around the beach was excellent. As has been mentioned in other reviews the hotel is on a hill but we had no problem walking to and from the Cinnamon Suites. We are in our late 50's and didn't resort to the complimentary golf cart ride, but might well have done had we been any further up. We felt we needed the exercise after the lovely food and cocktails. The staff are generally lovely, with a special mention to Josh on the bar - what a talented young man you have there, good banter too. Cathy-Anne was also particularly lovely in the restaurant, as were all her colleagues. We really did enjoy our stay at Mount Cinnamon and it ticked all of our boxes and plan to return in a couple of years. Read less

Just returned from a week in Grenada, I could not have asked for better. Mount Cinamon is perfect! The view is SPECTACULAR, the bed is like sleeping on a cloud and the beach is sublime. But what really makes this property stand out from the rest is the guest relations. From the moment you arrive Mark Kitchen, the director of the property, comes and greets you with some of his staff. As we prepared for departure we had the grounds keeper come and chat with us and bid us farewell. People sometimes wonder why certain properties/destinations are slightly more costly than others but until you experience it, you will only think price BUT once you spend some time here, you quickly understand that there are 2 kinds of properties in the industry... "cookie-cutter/same-same" where you are a number and then you have those properties that have "heart and soul". BRAVO to everyone who makes this place what it is. I have been working in the industry for over 14 years now and I have high standards and expectations. I have visited over 70 countries and stayed in some lovely places and the one thing I have noticed is you can have the most spectacular property but without amazing staff, it is just a building. Grenada has those amazing people everywhere, people are genuine and pretty happy and it shows. Pure Grenada the Spice of the Caribbean! Read less

We booked our holiday to Grenada having chosen Mount Cinnamon as the hotel we wanted to stay at based on the great reviews on TripAdvisor. It was a special holiday to celebrate my husband’s 50th and we returned home reluctantly, but very happy with our choice! When we arrived at Mount Cinnamon we were greeted by the GM, Mark Kitchen, with a very welcoming glass of rum punch! Mark provided us with an overview of the hotel and assured us that he and his team were there to make our holiday one to remember. He meant what he said! We were quickly checked in and off to our room - one of the newer Cinnamon Suites. When we opened the door to the Suite we both said ‘WOW’! The view across Grand Anse beach towards St George’s was amazing! The Suite was lovely - modern, bright and it had everything we needed for our stay. We arrived on a Friday so it was straight off to the beach Cabana for the weekly bonfire, entertainment and bbq supper! An amazing start to our 2 weeks at MC. The food was amazing - we had no complaints whatsoever! Great assortment at the breakfast buffet with a range of items cooked to order. We both loved the omelettes with a choice of fillings and the breakfast burrito. Lunch at the Cabana was also exceptional with a lovely variety - shrimp Alfredo and the blackened local catch of the day stood out for us. Dinner was also superb. Scallops with callaloo risotto; coconut chicken and a Grenadian chocolate trio for dessert!! We also booked the private dinner on the beach as a treat for my husband’s birthday. That was a very special evening and one we will remember very fondly. We met with the Executive Chef, Karim, a few days before the dinner and he created a menu for us based on our personal food choices. We had to leave the beach by 4pm on the day for them to prepare for the event and again another ‘WOW’ when we arrived down on the beach to find flowers strewn on the sand, lanterns and candles and a table for 2 at the waters edge. The lovely Cathy-Ann was our waitress for the evening and she was a true star! She took some lovely photos of us to remember our evening under the stars. As others have said, it’s the MC team that makes this hotel stand out. From the GM, Mark, to Carlene; Kevin; Michelle and the cleaning team; Amanda and the hospitality team; Cedric and the beach team and the guys that look after the grounds and maintenance. Everyone we came across during our stay introduced themselves and welcomed us to their island. It was lovely to meet some of them at the weekly manager’s cocktail party where they were recognised by Mark for their hard work in helping to make MC the wonderful hotel it is. The hotel is located at the quiet end of Grand Anse beach. It’s a gorgeous beach and it was about 10 steps from the sun lounger to the clear waters of the Caribbean Sea - which was like bath water. Local sellers come along and chat while trying to sell you anything from tea towels to baskets made from palm leaves! No issues if you didn’t want to buy. We enjoyed a full day excursion around the beautiful island - a must for first time visitors. Such a wonderful place with warm and welcoming locals who are very grateful for you coming to their island. We also did the full day catamaran trip on Shadowfax - visiting the underwater sculptures (amazing!) and sailing to the Atlantic side of the island which is also very beautiful. I have to say a special ‘thank you’ to a few of the MC team who stood out for us - Isha, Shekira, Cathy-Ann; Taurell, Amanda, Steffon, Nabs; Thyesha, Shanelle, Jade and Ashlynne. Nothing was ever too much trouble and they are so attentive to all the guests. Finally, the man with the deepest voice on the island who entertained us at the bar, Antonio, and his cheeky sidekick, Josh the cocktail maestro in the making! Such lovely guys! I guess I’m trying to say that we loved Mount Cinnamon and the island of Grenada! It was everything we hoped for and more and we will most certainly be back in the future. If you’re looking for a relaxed holiday in an unpretentious holiday location, choose Grenada and Mount Cinnamon - they won’t disappoint. Many thanks to Mark and the whole Mount Cinnamon team for making this a holiday to truly remember. Read less
