The hotel

If its peace and serenity you want, you’ve come to the right place! Tucked away in a secluded location, the Jewel Paradise Cove is nothing short of idyllic. Strictly for adults only, it’s all inclusive too, not just meals, snacks and premium drinks but water sports galore as well — it really doesn't get much better than this. Hang on, yes it does, green fees at the 18-hole championship Runaway Bay Golf Club are also complimentary. So whether you’re an aficionado or a complete novice, get stuck in. When you’re not playing, relax at Radiant Spa, a sanctuary in every sense of the word. The fitness centre is also world-class, making this an ideal choice for those interested in health and beauty. Accommodation is another treat — all rooms are contemporary with state-of-the-art technology. If you’re on honeymoon, upgrade to a Junior Suite — you’ll enjoy personalised butler service if you do, helping to make your stay even more special. When it comes to dining, there are seven dining experiences to choose from, ranging from the laid-back, beach-side Aquamarina to the highly romantic Platinum, where you can feast on Caribbean delights. Enjoy a moonlit stroll after dinner perhaps or head to Bling! — a lively disco bar with tunes to keep you dancing until the early hours.

Our first time in Jamaica. The entire staff at the Jewel Cove Resort & Spa was spectacular, and the resort was exactly what my husband and I, and the other 3 couples with us had hoped it would be. This resort is intimate, has the feel of being on an island in the Tropics, is well maintained, and clean. Our reason for the group vacation was to celebrate the 30th wedding anniversary for us and two of the other couples. We were so pleased to receive the plate of chocolates sent from the management to recognize our anniversaries. We were in buildings 8 and 9. Our balconies overlooked the life size chess game, the waves crashing on the rocks, and the cluster of hammocks. We were very pleased to be in these buildings because of the views, the quietness, the proximity to the main pool, the proximity to the main dining room, the proximity to the beach, and to other services. We were not interested in playing tennis, which was far from our buildings. Our buildings were also close to a great sunset watching location - The Sunset Bar, located on the upper deck of the Italian Resturant. Pizza can be ordered from the Italian Restaurant and carried upstairs. We were not able to enjoy a ride on the Glass Bottom Boat because of the winds and waves. We did enjoy the evening entertainment after dinner, the piano bar, and this disco. A special heart felt Thank You to the management and the entire staff for continuing with business as usual during this time of the COVID-19 outbreak. It was obvious that staff was very aware of and adhering to precautions set by their Prime Minister. It was quite obvious that their primary concern was the safety and security of their guests at all times. Read less

I highly recommend Jewel Runaway Bay over Paradise Cove. Our first room overlooked a loud pool and was too basic. Had to upgrade for $400. All inclusive means alcohol is well quality only. Not impressed. Food was good. Beach too small. Litter on the beach. Of course guest who litter should be banned but have staff patrol and pick up and also tell… Read more

**Disclaimer: this trip was taken during the COVID-19 outbreak and may explain why the resort was the way it was** My mom and I stayed here for 7 days and 6 nights as an opportunity to get some rest and relaxation and to celebrate me passing my certification exam. Overall, the resort was good, but I’ve been to better. In short: Pros: Clean resort Not too big, everything within walking distance Staff is very friendly (greeted with cold towel and rum punch) Quiet, relaxing (possibly due to COVID-19, or lack of children) Food available practically all day (only 1 restaurant needs reservations) Drinks are strong Cons: WiFi can be spotty Dinner under the stars (a sit down meal) doesn’t accommodate for allergies/food intolerances (probably shouldn’t have it on a night with no other food options—other restaurants were closed) No advance notice about having dinner under stars/dinner on beach While we were there the resort was only at about 20% capacity, if that. The staff did a great job of making us feel comfortable and engaging us in activities (side note: I haven’t been to such a clean resort in a long time), but you could also see that if more guests were present it would definitely be a party spot. Ultimately, I would return here for another trip at a later date. Read less
