We came for our anniversary and had an Estancia Suite. We had a wonderful relaxing time, ate some great food, and had several (many, many) awesome cocktails. Service was fantastic. We spent much of our time at the quiet pool. So relaxing! Shout out to Alfri the pool concierge. He was there every day to help with our umbrellas and towels. He came by regularly to reposition the umbrella to keep up with the moving sun. The pool waiters were all great but Oliver and Araceli were extra helpful and attentive. We had Adriano for our room host. He checked on us often and was very helpful setting up dinner reservations, booking a tour, setting up a spa visit, and taking care of us all week. Check in was easy but they handed us off to a vacation club sales person. We begged off and went to lunch while they readied our room and we never managed to get back with him. Our first room was in building 7. Beautiful view but partially obstructed by the concrete balcony wall. The A/C drain was leaking into the bathroom so they moved us to a room in building 8 . Maintenance was very responsive to another A/C problem (door interlock wasn't working) in our new room. We had an awesome view of the quiet pool, jungle, and ocean. The mini-bar had water, soft drinks, and beer. They carried Pepsi products which we do not care for. We ate room service for breakfast a couple times and really liked it. Use the app to order and get your tray picked up. You can schedule ahead. Housekeeping was very attentive. We never lacked for anything during our stay. The bars were top notch. They have some wonderful cocktails and we especially liked the Jade (the welcome drink) and Balum (a tequila punch). Call your liquor for even better drinks! Each restaurant had specialty drinks to match the cuisine. We ate at each of the specialty restaurants. Each was unique and had good variety. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be Cueva Siete. You can't go wrong with the bone marrow or the duck tacos as appetizers. The filet was so tender. Don't miss out on the Mexican Coffee to finish off the meal. 20.87 would be a close second. They had a menu change mid-week and selection was great on both menus. Their steaks and seafood were all good. The grounds are more garden than jungle but we still saw several Iguana and a Coati. They had a falconer on site and had a couple of Harris's hawks that they used to help keep black birds and grackles at bay. The hawks were really beautiful and fun to watch fly. We were able to get in the ocean most days. Seaweed was not bad at all. There is a lot of coral so wear water shoes. Other guests saw some rays but we never saw any. A couple of guests reported seeing turtles hatch in the evening. Watch out for the beach vendors. They immediately hit us up to sell us drugs on our 1st trip to the beach. Overall a great relaxing all adult vacation. It's a bit of a drive from the airport but well worth it. Read less

We’ve experienced luxury resorts, but none compare to the experience at UNICO. The beach was beautiful, the food was wonderful (were typically not impressed by all inclusive food), our swim up was so convenient, and the service was out of this world. Pool and beach service was the best we’ve ever experienced, they constantly checked on/served us at our beach chairs and swim up. We especially loved Victor Mejia in the pool bar restaurant, we had him 3 days in a row and he made our experience wonderful every time! We can’t wait to be back home at UNICO! Read less

My husband and I came to Unico for our honeymoon after a very stressful time planning a wedding during the pandemic. This was my first time out of the country and my husband had only been to Cancun once before. The Unico absolutely blew my expectations out of the water. The drinks and food were amazing. My personal favorite was the Italian restaurant and we ordered many appetizers and a few entrees. My favorite drink to order was the refreshing Jade cocktail, and I always requested to add vodka. The room service options were great and the food was delicious and always delivered within 40-60 minutes. Our favorite pool at the resort is the “quiet pool”. The other pools are much larger and beautiful, but have black stone at the bottom and tend to be extremely hot. The Quiet Pool was cooler and has a swim up bar, although it was closed due to COVID. I cannot say enough about the service we received throughout a trip. Our personal favorites were Oliver and Najaida. Oliver was our server at the pool every day we were there. He is quick, friendly, and makes great recommendations. Najaida was our server the first night and you can tell she truly loves her job. She made so many amazing recommendations and was a pleasure to talk to. She is such a hard worker and we sought her out multiple other nights because she was so great. We hope to come back to this amazing resort soon. Read less

Unico is a beautiful all inclusive with amazing food and great service in general. The COVID measures are taken seriously and the capacity is low enough that social distancing can be practiced by guests without any discomfort. We were there for four nights. I would start with some constructive feedback for the resort. The staff at the Italian restaurant definitely needs some retraining. I am not sure if it is because the Italian i our appetizer order in, I was reprimanded by our waitress - "No, you cannot order appetizers first, this will disturb the entire restaurant, tell me what you want to drink 1st." Ok this was the 1st time I ever hear putting an apps order in will disturb the flow of a restaurant. After 10 minutes she deemed it finally time to take our food order, she once again reprimanded us for ordering 4 entrees which we saw another couple did. She tried to stopped us from doing so and when unsuccessful she tried to get her supervisor involved. She went to her supervisor with our order in hand and made a big show of pointing us out. It felt like she hated us from the moment we sat there in her section. I do not believe she is a people person and suitable for her current position. We also had an unpleasant experience with one of the excursion vendors who took us out on a luxury sailing and snorkeling tour with 3 feet waves. Do not go if you are not someone who can swim 30 mins in a rough turbulent sea and do not get seasick easily. I would write more on the vendor's tripadvisor page but hope the hotel will reconsider recommending this vendor. Hopefully the hotel will consider replacing some of the broken tiles around the quiet pool. Besides the above isolated incidents, Unico is really an amazing resort. The food is very high quality and the wait staff go above and beyond to make you happy. My favorite restaurant was the Italian restaurant and on our 1st night there we were fortunate to meet Nicolas who were more than happy to suggest the mussels and grouper to me. They were my favorite dishes of the night. Their house made fettuccine is on par with pasta I had in New York. The Mexican restaurant is a showcase of regional mexican cuisine. The waiter hustled to get us our food and service was the fastest out of all the restaurant. The shrimp appetizer and coffee made our night. Mura House blew our minds with the variety of food available and we had a great time. Lunch at 2087 was one of my favorite meals of the day. All the ceviches and entrees were delicious and freshly made. Pool food was my guilty pleasure - the pizza was so good and this is coming from a New Yorker!! I love the numerous pools around the resort and how attentive the waiters and attendants are. Best time ever! We spent hours just chilling in the pool. The spa and beauty saloon is another highlight of the resort. Massages are amazing and so is the nail service. I actually love their gym too. I look forward to visiting Unico again with its hardworking staff. Special mentions to some hardworking staff - Cony at 2087 restaurant who made us feel at home everyday and Oscar at the pool who always wanted to fill our hands with a drink. Also housekeeping was amazing. Whomever turned down Room 3502 on Sept 18th needs to be praised and their practice shld be the template for all turndowns in future!! Read less

My wife and I spent our honeymoon at UNICO 20 87 last week at it was amazing!! I have been to many all-inclusive resorts and this was definitely at the top of the list. Friendly and attentive staff, amazing accommodations, great food, gorgeous property! Since capacity was reduced due to Covid, I enjoyed it even more because there were less people which for us was a plus. I did miss out on certain things like the swim up bar and buffet as they were closed to limit large groups, but that was no fault to the hotel. My only complaint would be the long wait time for room service as it took over an hour for dessert to get delivered for a late night snack, and it was cold when it arrived. I also booked the Ocean Front room, but the view of the ocean from my room was blocked by palm trees since it was on the second floor. The balcony was more private than the others however, so it was okay. We would certainly return to this property again. Read less
