We came to Unico to celebrate my boyfriend’s 30th bday & had a total blast! The rooms were fab, everyone was so so kind & helpful. I have no negative things to say. I’m more of a beach girl & part of the beach is rocky so just walk down a little way, & it’s rock free! Food was great too. I would def come back!

We just got back from four nights at Unico. This was our second trip to Unico. We stayed in an ocean front room on the top (5th) floor, on the side without a pool. The room number was 1508. I think that area is the nicest in the hotel except for the suites, where we stayed on our first trip, and the ocean/beach views are everything you would hope. There are a few covid related changes of note: The swim up bars are closed. Not the end of the world, but generally they are a fun place to meet people. They do a good job delivering drinks to the side of the pool, so no issues there If you are the kind of person who likes to work out during your vacation, the gym needs to be reserved. Fine if you do it ahead of time, but I wasn't aware and the times left didn't work for me I gave our trip four stars. I'll start with what kept it from being five, and then go into what we loved The room service wait is the longest I've ever experienced. You cannot book room service any sooner than 90 minutes. That is a really long time to wait if you haven't planned ahead The spa is billed as having included services, and you only pay for the gratuity. While this is true technically, it feels disingenuous, as the gratuity charged is about what we would pay for some of the nicest spas in Austin. For example, the gratuity for a 90 minute deep tissue massage is $117, which would put you out $500 if it were full cost. To be fair, it is discounted compared to world class hotel spas That being said, we loved our trip and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Unico. What we loved: The resort is beautiful. The decor is simple and elegant Our room was beautiful and comfortable. It has an excellent ocean view. The balcony was definitely private enough to have a bath while listening to the waves on the beach The landscaping is amazing. As a plant nerd, I appreciated how well it was kept. The giant plumerias made me resent the occasional freezes we have at home that keep us from planting them The food is really good. I highly recommend "Cueva Siete" which is local Mexican food. The sushi is also high quality, especially considering it's all you can eat. Really really enjoyed the dining experiences The drink selection is wide and of high quality. There are plenty of top shelf liquor options, and the house wine selections are nice. We drank a lot of prosecco, rose, bombay sapphire, and of course tequila and mezcal Everybody was friendly. I've read some reviews about people getting harassed about buying into the time share. We did not have that experience in the slightest. If you're not interested, make that clear. Tell them you will never ever buy a timeshare. We didn't get a single question about it after the initial offer at check-in Our concierge gave us a number to text in case we needed anything. He was prompt and friendly when we did have a few special requests The beach is beautiful. I've heard reviews complaining about the seaweed. There is no avoiding it if you're there during a bloom, which is most likely April through July. They clean the beach regularly, but there's no keeping up with it in full bloom. We were there with a decent amount in the water and the beach was still beautiful and enjoyable I hope this helps you understand the hotel. I definitely recommend it and hope you have a great stay if you choose it! Read less

Since this trip was my daughter’s first adults only all inclusive, I wanted to make sure she had the best experience and she did. If you are looking for a very relaxing place, great food and attentive customer service, this is the place for you. Every Unico team members were very helpful and made sure you have the best experience while you are on vacation. From an efficient check in/check out, Alex who was our local host, Carlos & Ulysis at the pool, Beatriz and Torres who took care of our food & drinks by the pool, everyone at the restaurants and of course the housekeeping team who always have our room ready and comfortable- were all the people who made our vacation memorable. I cannot think anything for the team to improve other than continue doing what they are doing. Read less

Look at the end of the day it’s still an all inclusive so there was something very “pre-fab” about it. Feels like a nice cruise ship. If that’s your thing, it’s a good way to go. Look at the end of the day it’s still an all inclusive so there was something very “pre-fab” about it. Feels like a nice cruise ship. If that’s your thing, it’s a good way to go. Food all looked good and it did taste good but also tasted very not good for you (again like cruise ship food- so tasty but so gross). Staff was nice but tipping is 100% expected and it greatly impacts the level of surface you receive. Not the fault of the employees who I’m sure rely on tips, but I’d rather they received decent salaries from the owner (Hard Rock, hello) rather than putting that responsibility on the guests. Made it a battle every morning to tip the pool guy early enough to reserve a good spot. Room was decorated very nicely. Outdoor tub was fun but not very private. View was ok, mostly of the grounds with some ocean in the distance. It rained and there was a lot of flooding around the resort, needs better drainage. Had a weird experience at the spa, didn’t know we were supposed to arrive early so we arrived perfectly on time and got yelled at for not getting there sooner- said our massages would be cut short depending how long it took us to get changed. Incredibly uncomfortable and unprofessional. Service throughout was hit or miss. Almost none of the other guests were wearing masks. As liberal New Yorkers we felt in the minority. Still met some nice people and had good poolside chats but overall we wouldn’t go back. Also the beach is teeny and rocky, definitely a pool hotel. They are very generous with letting the alcohol flow hence the extra star. Feel like we were drunk for 5 days straight.. not much else to do but eat drink and swim. Could have used more outdoor activities especially with covid. We were too uncomfortable to partake in indoor events, like Casino night. Read less

At the Cancun Airport waiting for return flight to the US. My wife and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. This was an exceptional experience. It was more than a vacation. It was paradise. I want to recognize our local host, Neftali. Amazing young man who took very good care of us. He handled our restaurant reservations and re-reservations since we changed our mind a couple of times. He also took care of our cabana rental, laundry service, and anything we needed! Even hand delivered our COVID test results to us! I also want to recognize Daniel. He is a waiter at Mura House. Excellent service. He's the reason we switched to eating at the Mura House a second time! The room was amazing. Ocean front is so great. We slept with the balcony doors open two nights and the sound of the waves was intoxicating. We were treated so well by all the staff. We wish we would have spent more time at the "quiet pool". Not that the other pools were bad but we enjoyed the extra quiet. Pool staff was great. Charle took great care of us. Keeping drinks in our hands. The resort was great and we'd probably go back without the excellent service but Neftali, Daniel, and Charle sealed the deal for us. We are starting to plan our return trip to the paradise that is Unico 20 87. Read less
