Nusa Dua Beach Hotel and Spa

Nusa Dua, Indonesia

The hotel

Living up to its ‘authentically Bali’ mantra, Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa feels like a reincarnated Balinese palace. Every element’s lavish, with its three exquisite tree-fringed pools, sumptuous spa, gym, and seven bars and restaurants all adding to the fantastical feel. But nothing’s quite as regal as its grounds, where tropical greenery spills over balconies, tumbles through gardens, and comes to rest on the pure white sands of its beach. The effect’s a serene setting for garden tours, coconut leaf weaving, and traditional dance classes – and for Gecko Club’s child-focused island experiences. Inside its nine hectares, a dramatic temple-like structure splits to reveal an elaborate lily pond festooned with water features; Balinese guest rooms (including Butler-served Club rooms) divulge garden, pool, or beach scenes; and the incredible bamboo web of its double-decked brasserie opens up to hypnotic Indian Ocean views.

We came to this hotel today (4th July 2021) at 11:45am. We spoke with a female manager with a Japanese flag on her dress. Maybe the management of the hotel can check the CCTV of what happened. It could help them improve their staff. We came to enquire about the hotel prices for 1 month stay. To see if they could make us a small discount for longer stay. We arrived at the hotel from the beach and went to the reception. To our surprise the hotel was entirely empty. Not one guest on the beach or inside the hotel. We thought that was strange because the other hotels around have guests. It's the holiday season. We wondered why nobody choose this hotel at all. When we arrived at the reception, we were literally attacked by the manager. "What are you doing here? How did you enter? Where are you staying?" . This is a rude way to speak to potential clients. We did not even wait that she tells us how much it would cost us. And we left right away. No way we would stay one month in a place that treat people like this. We went back to the beach and as we arrived we noticed something even more surprising. On the beach, there was 3 employees of the hotel (they had the hotel logo on their shirt), who were making holes in the sand. I went to see why they were making holes. They were burying plastic rubbish under the sand (plastic bags, plastic bottles, etc...). We thought of the manager that was rude with us. It was probably her that gave the order to those employees to burry plastic rubbish under the sand. We thought that it was the most barbaric thing that we had seen in a while and we understood why the hotel is absolutely empty. Because 90% of people staying in those hotels are Indonesians right now, they know not to stay there. This hotel is a tourist trap. Rich locals know not to go there. If I were the owner of this hotel, I would really consider checking this hotel manager behavior. The hotel is probably losing tons of money because of her. Especially during covid. Read less

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Not competitive. Not worth

May 15, 2021 frao_lim Jakarta

As returning customer, we are sad to say that this hotel is not competitive anymore. Compared to the hotels in this area, this hotel has the least open restaurant, only 1 and serves no pork. Least occupancy rate so most of the facilities are closed. Staffs are friendly, maybe the management team is not fit. Not sure.
