A short ferry ride whisks you away from the mainland bustle, making it a true escape. While the resort itself has everything you need, venturing to Phuket's mainland for restaurants and shops requires planning the ferry schedule. The Room: A special shoutout to the amazing ocean views! We spent countless hours relaxing on the private swimming pool , mesmerized by the turquoise waters. Service: The staff at Barcelo Coconut Island were all fantastic, but Milan truly went above and beyond. His friendly and helpful demeanor made our stay even more enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again! Read less

The service in the dinning establishments is great. The staff are very welcoming. However... if you are concerned with cleanliness of one's villa, as we are, then this is not the place for you. Every day our towels were removed and NOT replaced. But wait, there's more... We asked four times, twice using the hotel app, and twice over the phone for toilet paper. It took over 6 hours to get an extra roll. One should not have to beg for toilet paper and towels daily. By the end of our stay, we were hiding the towels so one wouldn't have to chase more down and stealing toilet paper from the communal toilets... Also, Phuket is very hot and not one of the dinning establishments is air-conditioned... so one is eating hot curry in a very hot environment. Also, the drinks are a joke. Seriously watered down. The only saving grace was that one can partake in takeaway, meaning we could squirrel it away to consume in the comfort of our AC villa. We will never return... Read less

We have just returned from two weeks on Coconut Island having had a fantastic all inclusive holiday. Lots of typical Thai charm mixed with luxury makes it an amazing location. Breakfast directly on the beach and then two fantastic restaurants to choose from for lunch and dinner - with a perfect mix of menu options and buffets throughout the week. Cocktails, beers and soft drinks are plentiful, the pools are lovely and warm and perfect places to relax in a tropical island environment. Lots of the fantastic staff looked after us wonderfully - from the lovely Nurreyah, Joy and Mau… through to glorious Minny and U-nut (the latter two we didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to, but you all really made our holiday one to remember and are all a credit to the resort). The only small critique is that the new LAKU beach club is great and adds an extra Mediterranean/Ibiza like vibe to the beachfront… but as it’s such a centre point of the resort, it could be incorporated more into the all inclusive offering. Overall Barcelo Coconut Island gets a HUGE recommend from us. Thank you to everyone from us at Villa 27! Read less

We had a wonderful time. The hotel is beautiful, the food is great, the facilities are amazing, and all the staff is friendly and warm. I will definitely be back soon. It is the perfect place to spend some quiet and peaceful time. The weather was great, guess that helped too.

I always try to leave an honest and balanced review…we stayed at resort fir 11 nights in March/April 2;-3 adults and a teenager! All in all this is an excellent choice for families or couples looking for some peace and quiet, away from the huddle and bustle of the mainland. The island itself is stunning and like staying in paradise. Please be aware though-you’ll need to catch a short 5 min speedboat or long boat over to the island. Hotel provides free boat crossings every hour but you have to book at least 2 hours in advance and so you’ll need to plan activities, trips accordingly. Also hotel uses 2 piers-one for high and one for low tides. This can be a bit confusing and requires a little bit of planning but again, we quickly got the hang of it and transfers are managed very efficiently by staff. Island Itself-beautiful! Very peaceful. Staff are amazing. Lots of local wildlife-we saw geckos, monitor lizards, giant land snails, frogs, cockroaches!!!! All part of the fun! Island is clean and well maintained. You can use paddle boards, canoes and mountain bikes free of charge. I would have liked more air conditioned communal areas especially reception as this was soooooo hot when waiting for trips etc! Villas-despite us only booking s one bedroom pool villa, we were thrilled to have been given a 2 bedroom Villa. So much more space! Villas are gorgeous. Lots of space and having our own decent sized pool was fab. Only criticism is that house keeping was very hit and miss. Some days we never saw them and had to contact reception for towels and toilet roll. Cleaning wasn’t of a high standard eg I’m sure our sink areas were not wiped down once during our stay. Also we encountered a number of maintenance issues such as bath leaking, ceiling leaking, air con leaking but issues are all resolved quickly and efficiently and amazing Villa made up for these problems. I’d have liked to see a microwave oven in the rooms. Food-we stayed B and B as wasn’t worth us going all inclusive. Food was lovely especially breakfast-such choice and all fresh fruits and veg. Room service menu was a godsend after a long day on a trip. Just remember though that they add 17% tax and service change into everything!!!!! Food and drink is expensive by Thai standards but reasonable compared to UK prices. Our soon lived off burgers and pizza as he isn’t a fan of spicy food. Swimming-resort has 3/4 pools. Swimming was possible in the sea but snorkelling was bad as very poor visibility and lots of muddy banks at low tide. Also lots of jellyfish but I think that’s pretty usual in Phuket and didn’t stop us enjoying ourselves! My son end. Got stung by jellyfish but lovely life guards applied a topical mixture to his wound and he was fine! Spa-i loved the spa at the resort. Comparatively, it was expensive but treatments were fantastic and staff there really look after you. I’d highly recommend! Be warned though…the traditional Thai massage was quite painful!!!! Staff-were amazing. Friendly, warm and professional. Nothing more to say! Trips-we used Viatour to book all our trips before we arrived. Hotel does offer trips but these seemed a lot more expensive but probably much more convenient as I believe boats depart from island. I heard lots of others talk about hiring a taxi long boat to take them to other islands. Hotel does offer a Sunday night market trip which was very reasonably priced and every day 11-2 you can go over to a neighbouring island which is very chilled. All in all this resort could be outstanding if housekeeping and maintenance of accommodation was improved. Still very good and we had a wonderful stay. Xxx Read less
