Construction - Beware! Now the good news is they are finally renovating the rooms that so need to be updated. The bad is they didn’t tell us during booking, the email sent welcoming us, or during check in. I’m sure the hotel will be beautiful in a year but now it’s loud and outdated.

First the good: We were on the 11th floor overlooking the pool and lake, with an excellent view of the tourist areas in the distance. In fact, we could see fireworks from the Magic Kingdom! I had never used mobile check-in before and it was a nice feature. I checked in and said we'd be there in about 2 hours. Then our plans changed and I opened the app to change the check-in time, but the hotel already sent a message saying the room was ready and I could click the "mobile key" button to get into the room! However, while having a "mobile key" on the phone is a great idea, it doesn't open the gate to get in and out of the parking lot- even one of the ladies at the front desk said they're not that advanced. Since we were here during the week, the restaurant was almost deserted, which meant it was easy to get food at the buffet. I easily got an omelet and waffles to-order from their chef's station. There was no whipped cream topping for the waffles, but I asked the chef for some and he brought it to the table, which was excellent service. They also have pre-made scrambled eggs in a heated pan. This might be from a complaint I made the last time we were here, years ago: the restaurant was so busy on a Sunday morning, with so many people in line for eggs and waffles, that it probably took 20 minutes to place an order! The bad: They charge a $40 "resort fee" per day for: Internet connection, even though we have our own cell phones; shuttle service to the theme parks, even though we have our own car; inflatable pool rental, which should really be part of the room rate. AND they charge a $30 per day fee for self-parking. But I'm sure they do this for two reasons: 1) All the other hotels do it, so it's a "standard". 2) It lets them advertise a lower room rate, such as "it's only $200 a night", when in reality, it's $270 after the resort fee and parking. Why don't they be different from everyone else and advertise the room at $260 (for example) and say the rate is all-inclusive. Or better yet, say "free parking" and "no resort fee". I would think that would get a lot more customers than the industry-standard bait-and-switch of advertising a low rate and then adding fees. But to be fair, the airline industry plays this pricing game also. The room key wouldn't open the gate to get in and out of the parking lot. The lady at the front desk reset the key, but it still wouldn't open the gate the next time we went out. Though I think this is a "known issue": I would try the key a few times, then press the button for assistance, then the gate would open without anyone saying anything. Or I'd press the button, someone would say hello, I'd say the gate isn't opening, and then the gate would open, again without anyone saying anything. This seems like they know there's a problem and the employee simply lets the guest go through when they call. Yet in all the times we went in and out, there was only one time when someone bothered to ask for our name and room number: as we were leaving the parking lot after checking out! You'd think for $30 per car per night, they could fix the gate so it opens with a room key without needing to call for help. To compare pricing, when we went to Universal Studios, they "only" charge $27 per day for parking. I still think the breakfast buffet is way over-priced at $30 per person. But like dining at the theme parks, there's very little choice when it comes to breakfast food. And if they charge $18 for a waffle entree or $15 for an omelet entree, plus another $2.50 or $3.00 for orange juice, I might as well spend $30 and get small portions of everything. Read less

It has a huge lazy river with multiple different pools attached to the river. Floating in the lazy river is like a never ending labyrinth of pristine pool, palm tress and relaxation. The poolside service is also great, each chair has a flag and when you put it up an attendant is with you right away. The lobby at this hotel is also breathtaking, with lavish fountains and skylight. This is a perfect resort for a getaway and we highly recommend. Read less

The resort had superb grounds, rooms, conference spaces, and meals, as well as restaurant options both in the Marriott and the adjacent Ritz-Carlton. The meals fit my pescatarian diet well, and gluten- and dairy-free options were provided for each meal.
