Disney's Art of Animation Resort

Walt Disney World, Orlando

The hotel

Disney's Art of Animation Resort pays homage to four Disney and Disney.Pixar films: The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo and Cars. Boasting nearly 2,000 rooms altogether, the sea-inspired Little Mermaid section of the hotel sleeps up to four people. In the other three sections, there are Family Suites easily sleeping up to six people. All are relevantly themed promising a magical experience for young and old alike. They also boast a great range of amenities with fully-equipped kitchens in the suites an added bonus should the midnight munchies strike! Outside are four courtyards, each devoted to one of the films with larger than life characters smiling down at you everywhere you look. King Triton is a definite highlight, towering 35 foot into the air and very impressive indeed. The main swimming pool is a great meeting place with sun terraces and loungers galore. There’s also a pool bar to order snacks and perhaps a cocktail or two. For a more relaxing ambience, head to one of the quieter pools, just as lovely but with less hustle and bustle! A themed food court makes dining fun, serving family favourites for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I had heard great things about Art of Animation going into this trip, but was left sadly disappointed. I can see the appeal for a very select group of people - folks who need significantly more space than the average Disney hotel - but don't understand the appeal outside of that. I had heard great things about Art of Animation going into this trip, but was left sadly disappointed. I can see the appeal for a very select group of people - folks who need significantly more space than the average Disney hotel - but don't understand the appeal outside of that. We were automatically upgraded to a suite from a standard room, which was a nice surprise, but the room was dated and cheap looking. It seemed like Disney spent all the money tiling the (lovely) bathroom and then went thrift shopping for the rest. Art of Animation has interior hallways, which is unique among non-deluxe hotels at Disney, but they're dimly lit and musky, adding to the cheap feel. You can get a much nicer room at Pop Century for less, or at Coronado for a bit more, so I'd go with one of those over Art of Animation unless you need the space. Read less

We are Disney FL annual pass holders and typically stay in our RV at Disney's Fort Wilderness. We took a short weekend trip and decided to stay at Disney's Art of Animation instead of camping for the weekend. We stayed in the Radiator Springs section in a family suite and ventured out to check out the hotel amenities. When we returned to our room a few hours later luggage belonging to other guests was inside our suite. I called and they said they would come and retrieve the luggage it took over an hour so we again ventured out, long story. More luggage in our room upon our second return that did not belong to us! I called the front desk...again. Eventually the luggage was retrieved and I noticed a guest survey letter in our room which asked if we would respond while on site to any issues so Disney could address. Within 3-5 minutes of submitting an online response to our luggage issue I received a call from management and a knock at the door. Disney went above and beyond to make us happy and correct the situation while we were still on site. Response and corrective measure was amazing and very much appreciated. Read less

The plus to Art of Animation is the family suites. It was nice to have so much room (3 beds) with two bathrooms. We stayed in a Nemo suite and could not figure out if the interior was worn or just cheaply done. I think some of the other theme rooms may be more appealing. Staff was nice and the place has a lively feel. You definitely pay for the… Read more

No complaints or issues at all. The kids really enjoyed the different themed areas. We walked through all. Nemo, Little Mermaid, Lion King, and Cars. On site quick service restaurant, Landscape of Flavors had good selection of breakfast options.
