Disney's Art of Animation Resort

Walt Disney World, Orlando

The hotel

Disney's Art of Animation Resort pays homage to four Disney and Disney.Pixar films: The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo and Cars. Boasting nearly 2,000 rooms altogether, the sea-inspired Little Mermaid section of the hotel sleeps up to four people. In the other three sections, there are Family Suites easily sleeping up to six people. All are relevantly themed promising a magical experience for young and old alike. They also boast a great range of amenities with fully-equipped kitchens in the suites an added bonus should the midnight munchies strike! Outside are four courtyards, each devoted to one of the films with larger than life characters smiling down at you everywhere you look. King Triton is a definite highlight, towering 35 foot into the air and very impressive indeed. The main swimming pool is a great meeting place with sun terraces and loungers galore. There’s also a pool bar to order snacks and perhaps a cocktail or two. For a more relaxing ambience, head to one of the quieter pools, just as lovely but with less hustle and bustle! A themed food court makes dining fun, serving family favourites for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Perfect for anyone with young children but overdoing it on the plastic front

Excellent and clean hotel. Very welcoming staff. Only drawback 1. the overuse of plastic - please Disney think of the planet we don't need all that plastic and 2. can there be a waiting area with comfy seats and not backless benches. Apart from that the rooms re fabulous with the best beds ever! If the hotel was greener then it would merit a 5… Read more

Very large full hotel but it never felt packed. The reception is best service I have ever had in any hotel. I love the way the staff come and great you and twice we went the manager of the hotel was there and was helping us and chatting to us, it really felt like they wanted to help you and make sure you had a good stay. A big hotel immaculate grounds and communal area, several pools with lifeguards all the time. The room were spotless, and nicely decorated, the beds were a bit small, there was limited storage space for a family and I really didnt like the curtain across the bathroom area however we were never in the room so it really didnt matter. The restaurant staff were all helpful, the food if you ate in there was the same every day but what we had was good. The pricing was confusing there was some deals and it was sometimes cheaper to buy more than less but it wasnt clear and I dont think the staff understood it because we bought exactly the same breakfast every day and the price was different between 26 and 32 dollars every day depending on who was on the till. The bar staff were rude. I understand they probably get a lower wage and work on tips but their attitude was not one you wanted to tip. One night my husband heard one barman telling another not to serve him as he didn't tip so if we had a drink in the evening we would just get it from the restaurant as there was no pressure to give someone with a bad attitude 4 dollars for putting 2 bottles on the bar. The skyliner right outside the hotel is great for getting to epcot and hollywood studios, there were regular buses for the other parks which were good to get from the hotel but not good to come back waiting up to 40 minutes for a bus to come back at busy times. On the whole the hotel was excellent I would go back there if I went back to disney again Read less

We will definitely be back to Art of Animation! Our favorite employee, by far, was Tori! She was interactive and most of all my son loved the drawing class with Tori. This facility is so bright and cheery and such a great place for families! ** PLEASE NOTE! You will wait in line for your transportation to and from parks, and you will also have other locations your transportation will need to drop off at. It’s about 20mins in one direction. Plan accordingly** We stayed at the CARS section of the resort. My son just simply loved it! Next time we may stay on the Little Mermaid side for my daughter. The bright colors are just awesome. The food plan and options at the cafeteria are so great! If you come to the end of your trip, and you have food plan options left, grab some snacks for the plane or car ride home in the cafeteria (rice crispy treats etc) We will be back! And we hope to schedule one whole down day at your resort to enjoy the facilities even more! If you are there celebrating an anniversary, birthday, new pregnancy, new baby, ANYTHING! Be sure to tell the front desk! They will gift you ❤️ Read less

We enjoyed several meals at the Landscape of Flavors. The kid’s meals were a really great deal that includes a drink and two sides. The room was great for the six of us. We ate breakfast in the room before heading to the parks. The room did have paper plates, paper bowls, and plastic utensils. There was also a coffee maker that brewed one cup of coffee at a time. We used the Skyliner twice to come back from a Hollywood Studios. Very convenient and quick. Hoping Disney got the bugs out of the system. Our only complaint with our stay would be that we could not get into our room until after 4PM even though check in time was 3PM. This was extremely frustrating since we just drove from PA and wanted access to our room and at a rate of $572 for the first night we should have had access sooner. Read less

We have stayed here before but I just wanted to acknowledge the staff here who helped us and corrected problems we had. First we had just flew in after working the previous night. Tired and hungry we went to our room then my sister went to the food court for some vittles. She returned w a pizza box and inside was a pizza just dough and cheese. Really. Then we realized she was charged for a 6 person family meal. Not happy to say the least. I got on the phone to speak a a manager. Within 15 min a new pizza and family meal was delivered to us. The next day I went back to The food court and all charges were removed. We also realized that we were getting older and the hips are not what they once were. The beds were really high and the toilets really low. At a loss for what to do i called guest services and explained our dilemma. Some phone calls back and forth and they arranged a more appropriate room for us. We packed our things and they were moved to the new room while we enjoyed the parks . We returned 1.5 weeks later to stay at the French quarter and arrangements had been made for an Ada room for us. I've learned if ur polite and let the resort know ur need most times people will go out of there way to help thanks again to all the castmembers Read less
