Disney's Contemporary Resort

Walt Disney World, Orlando

The hotel

The closest hotel to the Magic Kingdom Park is the height of retro, '70s cool. The monorail enters the lobby through a 'curtain' of air to drop off and pick up. The stylish, gourmet 15th-floor California Grill restaurant offers incredible bird's-eye views over the Magic Kingdom Park. Meet your favourite characters in Chef Mickey's Restaurant, while tired parents can revive themselves in the cocktail lounge. There's a big swimming pool, tennis courts and even water-skiing on the lake.

Walking distance to magic kingdom. Nice, modern hotel with great service. The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are large...though the oversized double sinks are unnecessary and would have been nice to have more counter space. A great place to stay for a Disney vacation.

We stayed in the Garden Wing. The walk to the buses was the longest of all the rooms available but still not bad. There is an elevator right inside the entrance door closest to the main tower and across from it the stairwell. The corridor is not very wide and several times we had to wait for people to get the elevator before we could get in the building or out of the stairwell. The elevator is quite slow so consider taking the stairs if you can. The property was clean and the room was nice. Read less

We went in September for a four night stay. Originally booked the Garden Wing Deluxe Room and was lucky to be upgraded to a one-bedroom suite in the Garden Wing area. This was quite the shock and greatly appreciated. The room was clean, there were extra towels placed in the bathroom and we felt completely safe as every cast member we saw had on masks and some had on face shields. We were so happy with our vacation, we booked another trip to WDW and selected the Contemporary Hotel for our home away from home. We dined or ordered food for take away at California Grill, The Wave, Chef Mickey's, Contempo Cafe, and The Sand Bar. We have ADR for California Grill and Chef Mickey's on our return trip as well. We will be excited to have Contemporary Grounds reopened. The extra K-cups in the room hit the spot, but we did miss Contemporary Grounds. At all times we felt safe as people were social distanced and wore masks. If not, the cast members made sure people were aware of it. Well worth staying at the Contemporary for the location to MK, the dining options, the Monorail, the comfort of the room and the dedicated cast members . Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Warning: Prepare for zero service while stay at this "resort". Much better to stay at budget hotel outside of Disney

Where to start. How about : 1) No changing of sheets, towels, toiletries regardless of length of stay. Use COVID safety as an excuse, when anyone who's travelled at budget hotels in 2020 (E.g. Hampton Inn, etc.) knows this is an excuse to cut costs. 2) Only close to Magic Kingdom. Every other park and Disney Spring is far away, with long bus… Read more

Every other park and Disney Spring is far away, with long bus lines and wait times. 3) If you get the South towers, you room is easily a 10 min walk to the lobby where the bus stops, restaurants or any other amenities are. At the end, its a complete waste of money for what's being charged - Highly recommend staying at a hotel or Air BnB outside of Disney and just renting a car instead. Much much cheaper and convenient. Image of the Tripadvisor rating bad experience in this hotel ... don't come here

Dec 7, 2020 N775OGjavierg

I would never return to the hotel the service is bad, I arrived on Friday and for more than 4 days in a row I had to make my bed and call every day for the garbage to be picked up, the pretext for this is because of the covid, even so it is not acceptable for the price they charge for the bad service they offer
