Disney's Contemporary Resort

Walt Disney World, Orlando

The hotel

The closest hotel to the Magic Kingdom Park is the height of retro, '70s cool. The monorail enters the lobby through a 'curtain' of air to drop off and pick up. The stylish, gourmet 15th-floor California Grill restaurant offers incredible bird's-eye views over the Magic Kingdom Park. Meet your favourite characters in Chef Mickey's Restaurant, while tired parents can revive themselves in the cocktail lounge. There's a big swimming pool, tennis courts and even water-skiing on the lake.

We have stayed in garden wing and it was great! Lower cost than the tower but the same size room. Beautiful view of the lake and very quiet at night. Easy walk to Magic Kingdom and we used the monorail to get around to Epcot.

I treated my granddaughter Sandra to a one week vacation in Orlando's Disneyworld this past July. I had not been since my children were small and wanted to see for myself what Disneyworld had turned into in all these years. I wasn't disappointed. From the pickup at the airport our magical trip began. My granddaughter, having been there many times over the years was my guide. The Contemporary hotel was great. There were plenty of restaurants to choose from and we had breakfast with Mickey, took many pictures and made many memories together. The resort offers everything you need and I was impressed with the security at the pool. I counted 12 lifeguards at the ready when we went. That is impressive. Safety if key to the resort. The cleaning staff were top notch and everyone at the hotel was so very pleasant and couldn't do enough to enhance our experience. I'd certainly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again on a future visit. Read less

Beautiful clean hotel within walking distance of the magic Kingdom. HOWEVER Impossible to sleep! 7:30am mind blowing loud Disney music from Chef Mickey’s. Almost $1,000 a night with no sleep! Absolutely ridiculous!

We stayed here for a family vacation 10/19 through 10/24. We didn’t get the text that our room was ready, even though they said they sent it. The room to our surprise was not in the main building that the monorail goes through. I didn’t realize that the garden view was a smaller building out back. Not a huge deal, but not what I expected for the price I paid. It wasn’t clear to me when booking that we wouldn’t be in the main bldg. We were still able to walk to MK and obviously had access to all amenities available in the main bldg. The room still felt small despite being a bit larger than a value resort room. The only downside was sort of low ceilings and a Frosted glass door on the bathroom door. the glass door is only a problem due to having to turn the light on in the middle of the night or when getting ready early in the morning and having to worry about not waking others. we ran out of hot water one evening for some weird reason, and I declined having someone come to look at it due to bell services not knowing If maintenance would have to come in the room or not. I had already taken one a few hrs before so I went easy on my workout And just took another shower the next day. As usual, staff at the resort were very nice. Having only stayed at value resorts before this trip, I was surprised at the handful of little inconveniences that cropped up at the Contemporary resort. Main benefit of this resort is a 5-10 min walk to magic kingdom, instead of busses or other transportation. Read less

We stayed here about seven (7) years ago and it was amazing. This trip has been horrible. The first night we got here we did not have hot water. So, after a day of traveling, no hot showers. We did not receive housekeeping services for two (2) days. We saw the housekeepers at the next room, we left for over an hour just so they could clean, and came home to a dirty room. I had to call and complain. They offered me a paltry $100 credit. The mini refrigerator didn’t work but at some point we got tired of complaining. The restaurants offer crappy service at astronomical prices. We had a reservation at California Grill and weren’t seated until 20 minutes after our reservation - we arrived on time. It took them over an hour and a half to bring food for a party of five (5). We ate at the Contemporary Cafe - which is supposed to be quick service - and again we waited over an hour for our food. After all you pay for Disney it seems reasonable to expect good service but it was some of the worst service I’ve ever received. Even the people at the front desk were not friendly. You can do so much better than the Contemporary Hotel. Stay somewhere else or you will be horribly disappointed. Read less
