Disney's Contemporary Resort

Walt Disney World, Orlando

The hotel

The closest hotel to the Magic Kingdom Park is the height of retro, '70s cool. The monorail enters the lobby through a 'curtain' of air to drop off and pick up. The stylish, gourmet 15th-floor California Grill restaurant offers incredible bird's-eye views over the Magic Kingdom Park. Meet your favourite characters in Chef Mickey's Restaurant, while tired parents can revive themselves in the cocktail lounge. There's a big swimming pool, tennis courts and even water-skiing on the lake.

We ended up with a beautiful view of the water and a huge room that was larger than the regular rooms. We loved them. The hotel is old but it was spotless. Housekeeping does a wonderful job and we couldn't have been happier with the rooms we were assigned. The first floor is great if you have children so you don't have to deal with the elevator. Also, the convenience is was great. You can actually walk to Magic Kingdom or take the monorail. The Contempo Cafe was good too...never too crowded and meal service was quick. We were at Disney 4 years ago and stayed at the Art of Animation resort. The cafe there is a zoo. This was my 4th trip to Disneyworld and the Contemporary so far is my favorite resort. I highly recommend it. Read less

I am currently staying at the hotel, I reported a leak in the bathroom and I was told they would send someone to fix it right away. It si incredible you get this at one of “deluxe” hotel in Walt Disney World and the only person who said was sorry was the mantinance guy. Read less

This has been a bucket list resort- when you leave the Magic Kingdom you think I want to stay there one day. BEFORE YOU BOOK PRO: The view is as close as you can get to MK without actually being in the park. The Contempo Cafe has been great for a quick meal. Cons: SERVICE IS MISSING / TRANSPORTATION IS HORRIBLE. Out of three night stay so far as I’m still here I have experience two major monorail outages that have affected many people and no one at the resort seems to mind. If you have bad knees do not book this resort. On top of monorail going down they are also doing work around the escalators that no one said anything about. When you get off the monorail they send you down an old musty emergency exit they have not even bothered to paint or clean. If you think you are going to take the elevator down without a scooter they will let you know it is for scooters and strollers. Due to weather the resort monorail was not running so when we got off at TCC first the workers acted like they knew nothing about what the monorail driver had just said then on our own we found where a bus would pick us up. For three resorts they was running two busses and it was closing time. Took over an hour to get back. Then the person working the lobby told me to be sure and fill out the survey after my trip. THANKS BUS service to other parks have been thirty minute waits every time. You can see the expected arrival time on Mydisneyexperience app but then you watch the time change later and later. I’m just surprised how this is a “Deluxe” resort other than the location. Compared to the other monorail resorts this one is the dirtiest by far and pools are by far the worst. They are small and loud at both but who can blame the kids they are crowded. I have had a good time but not due to anyone else but my families. I do not recommend this hotel unless you want the view. This is THE restore to stay at for close proximity to Magic Kingdom. It was super easy for us to walk to with our 1.5 year old son. They have a great splash pad near the pool that we thoroughly enjoyed, as well. They have a great splash pad near the pool that we thoroughly enjoyed, as well. We were able to dine at Chef Mickey's for breakfast they day we left, which I also highly recommend (bring your appetite!). The room was clean and modern and we could see the Electric Water Parade every night. If you're looking for the cartoon-y, character type place for kids, this is not it, but there are plenty of things to off-set that. The monorail runs through the main building, which is so convenient and fun to watch! The grounds were beautiful and immaculate. Great gift shops and restaurants kept us from barely leaving the property other than to visit the parks! Read less

The room was large and spacious and the bathroom was huge! In typical Disney fashion, the staff was attentive and very friendly. Our room was clean and well appointed for 4 guests without having to ask (plenty of towels, toiletries and coffee!). The proximity to the Magic Kingdom is invaluable. On our last night it was so crowded on the monorail that we opted to walk back. Took less than 10 minutes and the walk was beautiful. Loved our stay. We will definitely be back! Read less
