Disney's Pop Century Resort

Walt Disney World, Orlando

The hotel

A fantastic family favourite, there is plenty to delight every member of the clan at this lively resort. The memorabilia, crazes and catchphrases that defined the 20th Century are everywhere you look - from jukeboxes, bowling pins and 8-track tapes to laptops, mobile phones and VCRs. The giant Rubik's Cube® is something to look out for, as well as huge models of Disney characters from the different eras. Baloo and Mowgli from The Jungle Book (in the 1960s section) are our favourites. Each building is a larger than life 'time capsule' of POP culture, featuring slogans encouraging you to 'boogie on down' or 'have a nice day' - not exactly hard to do! In the food hall, the kids can enjoy their favourite food, whilst mum and dad will appreciate a cocktail at the pool bar. When you're not exploring the theme parks using the complimentary Disney Transport, head to the 60s-themed Hippy Dippy feature pool and let the kids splash for hours in the pop-jet water fountain. To ensure you don't waste a minute of your holiday, bags can be dropped off at reception even before your accommodation is ready. They will be delivered to your room later, leaving you and the kids with nothing to do but start having fun straight away!

I’ve stayed at Pop Century a couple of times, and I have nothing but positive things to say about my experiences! Guest rooms were recently renovated and look great! I’ve never had issues with cleanliness here. Disney allows up to 4 adults per room, but I feel this would be too crowded for most. One room is perfect for couples and small families, though. Pop Century buses do not stop at other hotels en route to the parks. This is surprisingly rare in Disney, and, in my opinion, a big perk for PC! The resort is also within walking distance of the Art of Animation resort, so I once used their return buses when the Pop Century return line was super long. I’m looking forward to trying out the Skyliner once it opens, too! The food court is open until midnight and should have options to please anyone in your group. Art of Animation’s food court is also worth a walk across the lake, especially if you’re looking for more unique options. Pop Century is my favorite of the Disney value hotels. I’m sure we’ll be back again - hopefully soon! Read less

Recent renovations has certainly improved Pop Century resort from the last time I stayed there 4 years ago. Definitely enough space for couples but might be a little challenging for families. Overall, the room was clean and thoughtful touches everywhere in the room. Will definitely recommend and stay again.

I will start off by saying that the renovations at Pop Century are great! Everything looks clean and up to date which is a biggie for myself. The bathroom was nice and clean and I didn't get a "dirty, gross" feeling when I was in the room - so thank you Pop Century! Now moving on to some of the faults with Pop. First, we were traveling with our 14 month daughter so we needed a pack n' play. We called Disney and requested this two months before our vacation, so when we arrived and there was no pack n' play we were a little confused. We called the front desk and said someone would drop it off within the hour. We left for the park and got back to our room around 7:30 (literally my daughters exact bedtime) and there was still NO pack n' play! We again, called the front desk with a cranky baby in the background and they said they would expedite it and have it dropped off in 15 minutes or less. Well a half our later we called again and the front desk woman said "an employee knocked for a couple minutes and nobody answered and you also had the do not disturb sign on your door." Say what?!?! There absolutely was no "do not disturb" sign on our door. Finally at 9:00 pm our pack n' play arrived. It was a mess, and needless to say we were very frustrated with POP. The second issue that we had is that there really was not ample space for our belongings. We felt like hoarders because everything was thrown everywhere because we had no space. One little tiny dresser where the drawers do not pull out that far is not ample space. It felt chaotic walking into our room at the end of the night and that is the last thing you want to feel at the end of the day. Overall, our stay was fine - it was a place to sleep, but we probably would have spent more relaxing time in the room if there was space for us and our belongings. It was disappointing how POP handled the pack n' play situation when there should have never even been a situation to begin with. For paying all the money that we did to make our Disney trip happen, I would expect a little bit more attentiveness and better customer service. Read less

During our 5 day stay on two different days we were napping (between 3-4pm). Housekeeping loudly banged on our door 3 times with ~5 second pause in between knocks in a row. Before I could get out of bed and answer the door, they had already opened the door and started to come into our room. They were performing a “safety” check. They did the same to my nieces’ room next door who are 18 years and younger. Granted they had a joining room with their parents on other side, the MALE housekeeper came into their room saying he was performing a “safety check” and checking light bulbs, etc. without asking if there was an adult in the room. This was VERY DISTURBING. “Magic” Express/ Bell Services On the day of our departure, we were told to be out front and wait on the benches 15 minutes prior to our 4:05pm departure. It had rained all day. Even though it was a covered area and it wasn’t raining currently, the benches were all wet. We asked if they could wipe down the benches to dry them off but were ignored. There were 3 bellman standing around doing nothing. When our resort departure time came and went, I asked the bellman if they have an ETA for the bus and was told “Don’t worry it will be here. You won’t be late for your flight.” They didn’t offer to contact the bus driver. I asked if I could borrow a towel to dry off the bench and they handed me the towel instead of drying it off themselves. Clearly the “magic” stops after you check out and they can’t get any money from me. The room was what you’d expect from a value resort. We only ate breakfast there but that was good. The housekeeping staff were always friendly. It’s a shame our visit had to end with Bell Services being so rude and unwilling to help. For the reasons above, I won’t be staying at this hotel again. A convenient, value hotel on Disney property ( a little upgrade from the All Stars hotels) Really fun to see the toys of our childhood! The rooms have been updated and all the disney transportaion system is available. There is an excellent cafateria-style food place on-site.)
