Disney's Pop Century Resort

Walt Disney World, Orlando

The hotel

A fantastic family favourite, there is plenty to delight every member of the clan at this lively resort. The memorabilia, crazes and catchphrases that defined the 20th Century are everywhere you look - from jukeboxes, bowling pins and 8-track tapes to laptops, mobile phones and VCRs. The giant Rubik's Cube® is something to look out for, as well as huge models of Disney characters from the different eras. Baloo and Mowgli from The Jungle Book (in the 1960s section) are our favourites. Each building is a larger than life 'time capsule' of POP culture, featuring slogans encouraging you to 'boogie on down' or 'have a nice day' - not exactly hard to do! In the food hall, the kids can enjoy their favourite food, whilst mum and dad will appreciate a cocktail at the pool bar. When you're not exploring the theme parks using the complimentary Disney Transport, head to the 60s-themed Hippy Dippy feature pool and let the kids splash for hours in the pop-jet water fountain. To ensure you don't waste a minute of your holiday, bags can be dropped off at reception even before your accommodation is ready. They will be delivered to your room later, leaving you and the kids with nothing to do but start having fun straight away!

My wife and I are Disney-aholics. We have been annual passholders for some 10+ years. So with that, it hurts to say, but Pop Century, along with All Star, are run of the mill motels. The grounds and pools and amenities are typical Disney well manicured and maintained, the staff is fabulous as usual, but the rooms are just not what you pay for. The beds are hard and uncomfortable, with one being a murphy bed thats even worse. They worst part of the rooms are that the walls seem paper thin and when someone from another room flushes the toilet it sounds so loud you think its yours. We literally have to close the door to the toilet/shower, and then the door to the sink area to be able to sleep. I had previously stayed and All Star Movies and hoped that these had better construction (even thought they are EXACTLY alike) but unfortunately that was not the case. I would not choose this resort again unless I absolutely had no where else to go. We were there to save ourselves some time and not have to get up as early for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon. But being local, we will not stay there again as we could not sleep there anyways. Read less

We have stayed at Pop Century several times before and mostly enjoyed our stays. We are big fans of the room remodel. All the storage and USB plugs are simply a game changer. However, on our last stay before this one at Pop Century in April of 2018 we ended up checking out early and moving resorts. The new beds were just way too hard and neither of us could sleep. We had the same experience the previous December, but thought it was us. My husband had an ankle injury that trip and needed more room to spread out and we just didn't sleep well we thought because we were in separate beds. In April, we realized it was the beds so we moved to Coronado Springs. We love Coronado Springs as well, but we were quite sad to be saying goodbye to Pop Century for what we thought was the last time. It had always been such a great value for us that we hated to give it up. We joined DVC this year, but did not buy enough point to cover all the trips we wanted to take in 2019. I was very excited about the Skyliner and after consulting the budget realized Pop Century was our best chance to make a Fall trip happen. We thought we could just go to Walmart and buy a mattress topper if the mattresses were still a problem. We stayed 10/15/2019-10/26/2019. We did online check-in and our room was assigned as we were on the Magical Express. We had requested a lake view room for a view of the Skyliner, but we were given room 9244 2nd floor room in the 80's section building 9. I love the 80's so we were just going to roll with it. We had gone to pick up a rental car and do a bit of shopping at Target so when we returned to the resort we bypassed the front desk and went straight to our room where the Magic Band worked great, but the room was NOT turned over for a new guest. All the previous occupants belonging were gone, but the iron was out and there was a pink hanger in the dresser. I immediately closed the door and we schlepped all our purchases with us to the front desk. I told the cast member at the beginning of the line the problem and she got the attention of another cast member who came and got us so we wouldn't be waiting in the line. We were reassigned to room 9152 on the 1st floor of building 9 again. Still no lake view and this room had a very un-lovely view of a small service area where they would park carts of linens and golf carts. However, the room wasn't too far from the parking lot to the rental or from the bus stops and Everything Pop so we did not request a new assignment. Side note: I am a super light sleeper and we knew that if we could hear the golf carts from the room we would need to move because we like to nap and I would not be able to sleep with the noise. Despite my concerns the noise was a non-issue. We never heard any noise while in the room, except when mousekeeping was cleaning the adjacent rooms and that was almost always done before we returned for nap time. The room was clean and served us perfectly. Another side note: We had had a similar experience at AKL Kidani this last May where our assigned room had been cleaned but not turned over for a new guest (opened soaps, no toiletries set out, and a razor on the ledge of the bathtub). On that occasion, however, the manager had to contact us about our luggage that had not been sent from Coronado Springs and when I told him of the room situation he credited our room $70 for breakfast the next morning. I never heard from a manager at Pop Century. All the castmember said was that this almost never happend. Except it had happened to us two trips in a row. We were very happy to discover that our previous issues with the beds had probably been because they were so new. We noticed the mattress were noticeably less firm and we slept just fine. The Skyliner is my new favorite mode of Disney transportation. It is so quick and you always have a seat. We did have one USB plug behind the nightstand that did not work, but we rearranged a few things and I completely forgot to call maintenance about it. We really only ever ate breakfast at the resort and it did the job just fine. I love the Mickey Waffles, but it was a struggle to get any crispy bacon though the cast members tried. And Everything Pop has some great selections in the shop. We usually did not have to wait too long for a bus except on one occasion after the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party where we watched 3 of most the other buses come and go until finally one bus showed up, but the queue was now filling 2 holding areas and a little bit later a second bus arrived. There were a few buses where we had to stand (I will not keep a seat while a mother tries to hold her child in her arms while standing). We were fairly pleased with the buses on this trip. Overall, we had a great stay and are super pleased to have Pop Century Resort back as our top Value resort choice. Read less

Plenty of storage and a real plus was being able to store the suitcases underneath the bed. The food court had plenty of options to suit everybody. We found there was always plenty of parking spaces available. We would highly recommend Pop Century and cannot wait to return one day. Read less

We were told we could get 1 room, just to find out later we couldnt, then when we settled in, the first room was actually available. Next, our luggage took almost 1.30 hours to arrive, and that was when we had to go get it ourselves after they promise to deliver it. We had a manager who dealt with the issues, which turned these negatives back up. NOW the positives. Room was recently renovated and the concept and design is beautiful. The room was very spacious. The hotel has access to the skyliner, which is a short gondala ride to epcot and other parks. Would I recommend this hotel? Honestly? Yes. It was priced well compared to other resorts and the location wise is really good too. There has been other reviews about how this looked more like a motel, but it earns its 5/5 from Me. Read less
