The hotel

A luxurious throwback to the colonial days when Mauritius’ sugar industry thrived. Rambling grounds, residential atmosphere, and bespoke furnishings create the feel of a Victorian sugar baron's mansion. The homely feel here doesn't mean you forgo resort treats though: there are lovely pools, water sports and exquisite dining and drinking spots, from the Asian Floating Market to the beachside Boathouse and Grill. The UNESCO World Heritage site at Le Morne Mountain provides a befitting backdrop to the resort with some of the world's best diving and kite-surfing only moments away. Days are best spent on the white sand beach, one of the island's best, with its iridescent lagoon.

I would like to say a very special thanks to Vince the F&B Manager, to Archie who acted as our Butler for the stay and Neavan who drove us from/to the airport, you couldn't meet a nicer guy. All of the restaurants at the resort are to a very high standard, the Indian restaurant specifically, is to Michelin Star class. We stayed in one of the beach suites which have a neo-colonial feel in the design. I have an engineering background so Architecture wouldn't necessarily be high on my radar, however It is obvious that the layout of the resort has been carefully crafted and fits well into the landscape. I sent a few photos home while at the resort and my son told me that I was "living in a postcard". The photos really don't do the resort justice. Fabulous place, can't wait for the opportunity to return. Read less

I was impressed by every corner of hotel premises, our room was very nice and luxury. Atmosphere was breathing in relax and 100% comfort. Private beach is very clean with food and drink service available. Breakfast and dining: We could choose from restarants Indya, Floating Market, Boathouse stake and grill, Le Manoir and Atsuko. Every food we got is very tasty and luxury in every of one. Stuff is very professional they can satisfy every your need or special food request. For example in Indya they had every desert with dairy products but girlfriend is alergic to lactose. Chef came personaly to offer her a special made food out of the menu. There is no problem with any of your request. Special thanks to our butler mr. Kanen who was taking care of our comfort entire stay. Every morning he visit us on breakfast, manage everything We asked for, book a dinner for us and give us recomendation for activities we can do nearby. He gave me whatsapp number and if I need something I just text or call him. In hotel I was not missing a thing, they threaring you as most valued person. Very nice and comfortable place to enjoy your vacation. I strongly recomend as JW Marriott is total, different from hotels I stayed before. Read less

Nevin was a lovely guy who was very informative about the Island and the hotel. One at the hotel, everyone of the staff we met were so courteous and helpful, in particular Vince (Food & Beverage Manager) and our lovely Butler Archie, you guys were brilliant and the food in Indya and the Floating Boat house was excellent. My husband, Stephen, did his stint with the guys in scuba diving training and I think he would have stayed there with them if allowed :-) Thanks again for a wonderful stay and again to Nevin for dropping us back to the airport.. The butler service is strange- mostly a person showing up at breakfast trying to sell extremly overpriced tours. There is a bit of confusion amongst the management although we hade amgreat help from Neha ar guest relations. Nice rooms and plenty of dining options. Although the prices are super high. Gordon Ramsay Steakhouse high! And the food is ok. No more. The beach is great, with a protective reaf making the water calm and safe. Its a public beach but super quit and almost no other guests. The beach team does a great job bringibg drinks and snacks. Big Kudos to Nicky for great service. Read less
