We enjoyed so much our stay in the Westin, it was the perfect vacation from the first second that we arrived at the hotel. The hotel is very clean, perfectly well maintained and beautiful. But the best about the hotel is its staff, wonderful people that work hard to make the guests feel comfortable and happy, and not just in the professional and polite kind of way but truly kind. We want to especially thank Anoop who has taken care of anything we needed, very knowledgable and kind. Also Yaaseen and Didier as well as Rajeev have done a wonderful job, they have an important role, face to the customer and a lot of touch points with customers as concierges. They are great people, thank you for everything you did for us especially for Noah. So much patience and dedication to your work. House keeping was very good, Devianee cleaned our room very very good. We had a lot of toys from our child laying around and she really worked her way through this mess, grateful for her help. The staff in the restaurant was very good as well - especially Jeffrey, Shivani, Saidi and Keshav - thank you. Jeremy at the beach grill was also very kind and always ready for a joke with our son Noah. And last but not least the Children’s Club - a great place with awesome staff, all of them have been extremely kind and really good with children, our son fell in love with Azor, we would have loved taking her home with us! We forgot some people - but to be honest the whole team was great and made an important contribution to turning our vacation into a wonderful time. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE: the quality of the food at the buffet. This was not worth 5 stars, maybe even not as it should be in a 4 star hotel. The food selection was too limited, a lot of the food was not warm enough. Apart from the freshly prepared stuff - mainly pasta and the grill - we hardly enjoyed the food from the buffet. This really needs improvement. But all in all: 5 stars for the Westin, we loved it and have great memories from our stay there. Read less

The Westin has more of a corporate feel to it and does not really cater for fun beach activities. Read less

We were originally going to the Le Meriden Ils Maurice, which is a Marriott too, but were moved and upgraded a * due to renovation work. Brilliant we thought! However, the Westin, although 5*, rea really did the meet the grade. Beautiful surroundings, gardens, but quite a narrow small beach adult area. The main buffet was very limited in choice, salads and fruit were hardly any considering the tropical island. You had to reserve at the 4 restaurants, here again, limited menus and they mixed up our days and time reservations too. Drinks from the main bar were not allowed in the restaurant! You had to buy again. The most critical part was that a glass of water /caraf, usually complimentary to 5* dining, was charged and served with the plastic bottle left on the table!! This I complained about as definitely not 5*,and we then had complimentary water at dinner for the rest of our 10 night stay. I am teetotal. Staff were very friendly and helpful, although quite slow to fix shower head etc, but house keeping fine. Noticed the towel 'swan', on the last morning, ie trying for a higher tip! We chose the area for the Scuba diving, so perfect location for that importantly. It was facing west, sunsets nice etc. Very nice overall, forget to mention the 15+ feral tabby cats!!!, so had to close the patio doors at night, a real shame as there was a a lovely night breeze. For a Marriott 5*, having stayed at comparable hotels, not really up to standard. Just the finer details were off. Probably chose another west coast hotel if revisited Mauritius. Sorry Westin but not impressed. Read less
