We had a really enjoyable stay here, the staff were great there were a good mix of restaurants and bars. The only downside were the rooms were a little outdated although the bathrooms looked newly decorated. The pool wasn’t heated so it was far too cold for us and the baby to swim. Overall a great stay. They were very accommodating for our little baby and provided a baby bath and a cot. Read less

We've just returned from a glorious 10 night stay at the Westin Turtle Bay in Mauritius. Our daughters (aged 7 and 9) cried when we left (and I shed a quiet tear under my sunglasses). The location & scenery are breathtaking - gigantic Banyan Tree just by reception, epic sunsets, the interiors are stylish yet understated, beautiful views, massive swimming pool which the girls' loved - they didn't use the kids club as they made a load of friends around the pool so we didn't really see them much anyway - though the kids club itself looks great and the staff were lovely. There's also an adult pool which is beautiful. We arrived to one of the worst storms the island has seen and despite the rain (torrential is too gentle a word) the staff laughed through it all and helped us navigate through the puddles/rivers to get to our room! The food is sensational with a choice of 4 restaurants plus the buffet in the main house which was always fantastic. We upgraded to all-inclusive when we arrived which was much cheaper than doing it here from the UK. Staff around the pool (and everywhere) were so friendly and a massive shout out has to go to lovely Kevin who kept us topped up with poolside rum on a daily basis! My husband went out on a few dives and we took a family trip to snorkel with turtles which was epic - all arranged at the hotel boat house. Also took a day trip around the island which was fantastic. Staff can't do enough for you. Excellent spa too. People moan about the service, you've just got to click onto Mauritian time, your wine will eventually come - and a gentle nudge, wink and a smile always works wonders. Or just order 2! Our last day arrived and we had a late flight - not only did they let us stay in our room until 6pm but also offered us a free lunch and drinks. Blown away. You won't be disappointed and will leave feeling happier than you ever thought possible. Now time to book some flights and head back out. One of the loveliest places we've ever stayed - and we're not "resort" people. But this doesn't feel like a "resort" - it's small enough to feel authentic - you get to know the staff and leave as friends. Thank you to everyone, we had a wonderful time and you've made memories for this little family of 4 that we will cherish forever. Sam xx Read less

The staff were exceptional. We went for the half board once we got to the resort. Buffet is perfect for each of our different tastes. Lounge was nice and relaxing and good for a few bites and drinks. Low tide or high tide the sand and snorkeling did not disappoint for younger kids. Thank you Jameel and team for a wonderful stay! Read less

TLDR: 4-5 star reviews say it all. 5 star resort in a remote section of Balacava Mauritius. The property is expansive, lots of amenities available to Titanium Elite guests, majority of staff encountered is welcoming. Restaurants on site are pretty good. Highly recommend a rental to the explore island. Here begins a wall of text with some local recommendations. Originally I was between Le Meridien because of the Nirvana section for adults only but couldn’t guarantee the room on points and I believe you get more value at the Westin. I used my 7N cert package that was an upgrade/downgrade mess during the merger. 7N is a great amount of time, you could probably do more honestly. Prior to arriving the front office supervisor, Deepty was incredibly helpful with answering all my questions by email. I would recommend this rental company: Wonder Island Tours Ltd: Balwan Ramdour was the manager at the time. It’s a little suspicious returning the vehicle because you meet a random person at the airport. All was good. They had competitive rates and easy to work with. The dive shop: Scuba Pro, which is also outstanding, referred me to them. Once you get to the hotel, check-in is done in the large lounge area over tea. The layout and amenities is explained, you also have the opportunity to meet with the concierge or an event planner if you would like to arrange a special occasion. After 22h of flying it felt like a lengthy process but it wasn’t bad. The Westin Turtle has 200+ rooms, each villa has one Jr Suite, unsure on Ocean Suites. They employ an army of staff members to offer 5 star service and keep the resort well tuned. I didn’t take anyone’s name in particular and I imagine it can feel a bit like a thankless job at times. I would like to formally recognize the entire team and thank everyone for above and beyond service during our stay. The WTR thanked me for my loyalty with a Jr Suite upgrade in building 300. It was ready shortly after arrival and was transported there via go-cart with our luggage. The room is larger than my city apartment with double balcony’s overlooking the general pool and restaurant area. It closes at 6p and never seemed too loud with kids. Entrance way has a mini bar section before opening into the bedroom with open bathroom separated by an open wall. The room includes a few extra toiletries. The room and bed is incredibly comfortable and the AC/fan worked great during hot days or cool sleeping. The heavenly beds are what you would expect from a Westin. There are no ice machines and buckets need to be requested through the express line. The first request never made it but the rest did. We did a mix of Go Green and house keeping during the 7N stay. The staff is thorough, taking over an hour to clean the jr suite. We found house keeping and turn down service entered our room with the please do not disturb sign present which was concerning for us. The club lounge is adjacent to reception and offers breakfast, tea time and dinner snacks with drinks. Drinks are 5:30-7p and snacks end at 7:30p. Decent options but wouldn’t substituted for dinner every night. Club lounge staff are excellent and he makes great cappachinos. The gym is above the spa and open 24h. It’s quite open with several treadmills lining the window and equipment on the side. Not a lot of nautilus type machines, plenty of free weights and a personal trainer if you chose to pay. It’s busy before breakfast and dinner. Towels were well stocked in the evening but not first thing in the morning. Water cooler is also available. The spa is a little pricey offering 50/80 min industry appointments. I went for the Ancient Tribal deep tissue massage with Thai technique and my wife did the Signature which was a 30 min neck, shoulders, and back. She also did a 30min rosemary back scrub. The sauna, steam room and whirl pool are open to all guests I believe and worth visiting for an hour. Both of us enjoyed our time at the spa. The platinum breakfast amenity is an absolute must. Egg station, fruit bar, cold meat and cheese section, fresh crepes and waffles plus tons more tradition breakfast items. The selection is vast and delicious. It compares well if not better to other Westin buffets we have been too We ate at the Beach Grill, sampling the fish and chips and what was supposed to be lamb skewer turned into lamb cutlets. It was pretty good but would skip for other options. Lunch at Mystique was also good. I tried the 3 course lunch menu. No complaints. Dinner at Kagan was a real treat. It lives up to the hype. Tikka starter, lamb in sauce, chicken breast with cream, yogurt salad and saffron rice. All very good but wasn’t the best my wife has had. Drink selection was fun, the gin dirty martini was great. Off property, we highly recommend Sauterelle and La Fangourin. The reviews speak to the quality. The boat house offers a few complimentary activities other requires a fee: glass boat and kayaking are fun. They have a dive shop but never responded to my inquire so I went with Pro Dive Maurius, 25 min drive and was very happy I did. The actual beach you can lounge on is small and well maintained. Maybe 20 sun chairs and a hammock. Ocean is shallow and a little rocky. Didn’t find it swimmable but others were snorkeling. The next section up is the adult only infinity pool with more lounge chairs. Bring your own drinks and enjoy the area. All in, great resort and value for Cat 5. Concerned about the on/off peak prices. Whether you spend your whole time, partial or none at the resort I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. If we ever make it back, it’ll have to be for longer! My husband and two boys, 4 and 1 stayed for 5 nights HB. The location is beautiful and hotel is quite stylish, however customer service is very poor and does not meet a 4 star level. There was a large family staying who were very rude to guests and staff alike. In fact they caused the fire alarm to be set off 2 nights in a row at 11pm and 4am which woke and upset our kids and ruined our sleep. We complained on the 2nd occasion that such guests should not be allowed to stay and were met with the response that they were not able to do anything. The absolute gem of a find was the kids club! This was the only highlight for us. All of the staff were very kind, energetic and genuinely wanted to ensure my son and all kids had a great time. Special thank you to Laura and Patricia, Aydin had a great time with you all, thanks for making his stay memorable. Read less
