Now the dust has settled after our wedding last month, we thought we would give feed back on our stay. Well I don’t know where to begin other than saying the whole holiday and wedding experience was nothing short of amazing. I have stayed in many luxury hotels but I can honestly say this is the first time I have ever stayed anywhere where the brochure doesn’t do the resort justice. Everything about the Banyan Tree was perfect making you feel like you were living in Paradise. We stayed in the Royal Villa 206 and although expensive it was truly amazing particularly the outside decking areas and the private pool. The Villa offered complete privacy and stunning views across the ocean, something that you dream of but don’t really think exists. The staff could not do enough for us during our stay, every member of staff working in the hotel went that extra length to make our stay truly memorable. A special mention must be given to David and Stephanie who organised our wedding from the venue to flowers to special in Villa dining experiences, they were superb and on hand for us the whole of our stay. The quiet and relaxing retreat was perfect for our wedding, a far cry from those holidays where two wedding a day are occurring on the beach. We would not hesitate for one second in returning to this paradise of peaceful tranquility. Read less

We booked to stay at Banyan Tree for our wedding in April this year. We felt like we were in paradise from the minute we arrived at the resort. We were greeted by Mohammed who looked after us throughout our stay and made our visit a holiday of a life time. The staff at Banyan Tree couldn’t do enough to help us. We were given welcome drinks and breakfast while we waited for our room to be sorted. Sparkling wine is even served at breakfast. The views from around the resort are stunning and breakfast is served with views of the sea and sounds of the waves crashing. All the villas are surrounded by trees with their own pools. We were lucky to be upgraded to the Royal Banyan villa (thank you Mohammed!) which made our stay even more special and luxurious. The villa had an infinity pool and jacuzzi over looking the whole bay. Perfect for our wedding photos! We would highly recommend it! During out stay we had a couples massage amongst the trees, overlooking the sea. It was truly relaxing and the best massage I have ever had. It ended with a selection of teas and fresh fruit. Before arriving at the resort I had regular communication with the resort staff to arrange special touches to our visit. We had a private BBQ by our pool one evening. The food was delicious and there was so much of it we had to save dessert for the following day. I also arranged to have champagne, flowers and candles in our room. Every night we looked forward to the decorations and gifts left on our bed. The staff were super friendly! The resort was fully booked during our stay but it never felt busy or overcrowded. We will definitely be back again. Thank you to all the staff who made us feel so welcome. Read less

Gusts should check the air conditioning. It seems cold during the day, but at night you will probably need to use the fan as you are likely to feel too warm as the air conditioning system is no longer efficient. Unless you want to pay 150 rupees for a bottle of water in the restaurant, ask to be served the hotel's water which is pure and FREE.

Everything about Banyan Tree was perfect--the view, the pools straight out of a fairy tale, the rooms, the service, the plantation-like main house. The cocktails were delicious, made only with real fruit and alcohol, not sugared up. The Thai restaurant Saffron was hidden in a marsh, a location I had never experienced before, and was perfect from beginning to end. The food was incredibly flavorful and the service was perfect. Our one recommendation for improvement was the main restaurant's buffet nights, which were not that good, cost $100 a person, and did not allow you to just order from the menu. After one mistaken night of that, we just ate elsewhere, so it was fine--we would absolutely come back in a heartbeat!!!! Read less
