Tivoli Lodge

Vail, Colorado

Virgin rating

The hotel

Combining modern architecture with the feel of a mountain lodge, the Tivoli is a firm favourite with skiers. Warm in atmosphere with great service from attentive staff, it also enjoys unobstructed views of the Vail’s Golden Peak ski area. Guest rooms are spacious and impeccably-appointed with the finest linens and large soaking tubs – much appreciated after a busy day on the mountain! There are also two hot tubs to stake your place in, both with mountain views, the perfect way to relax and unwind. Breakfast is a delight at the Tivoli, complete with an omelette station and house specialities such as French toast and buttermilk biscuits. Come sundown, there’s the Brown Hound Lounge with overstuffed chairs, leather sofas and towering views of the mountain. A wonderful place for a spot of après-ski, try a signature Indini cocktail, inspired by former mascot Indy, the chocolate Labrador for whom the name is lounged – yep, you guessed it, it has a chocolate theme!

Great service and delicious cocktails. The location is perfect. It is very close to the gondola one. The only problem is the parking is too small

Nice quiet room on the top floor. All of the employees were friendly and made you feel welcome. A nice touch for Vail - far more of a family atmosphere/approach than other hotels. Easy access (walking) to Gondie #1 and Vail Village. Highly recommend.

Nice facility and solid housekeeping but it's the staff that makes a fine hotel and the front desk staff was unsmiling, curt and borderline rude throughout my stay. Nice facility and solid housekeeping but it's the staff that makes a fine hotel and the front desk staff was unsmiling, curt and borderline rude throughout my stay. They like to sit in the back room and there's no bell at the front desk to summon them, so there's always a stand-and-wait time at the front desk. I felt like I was ruining their day by checking in. I got so tired of their curt, down attitudes that I checked out a day early on my prepaid reservation. From here it looks like short staffing and definitely inadequate training in gracious hospitality. Staff is probably also tired since I stayed there April 2024, the very end of the winter ski season. But this is the kind of hotel experience that keeps AirBnB and VRBO in business--your stay will never be ruined by unfriendly staff when there is no staff--and I certainly won't be going back to this hotel. You can't beat the location! Being in Vail village and right next to the Gondola was fantastic. The staff is very friendly and the dog that lives at the hotel was super sweet. What could have been improved upon is the bellmen experience and amenities. My husband and I loaded/unloaded our car while the bellmen watched. This would not have been an issue except for the fact that the ramp leading to the door was blocked off due to rain/snow runoff from the roof. So we had to carry everything up the front stairs to load on a cart. Not a great way to start a vacation with a strained back! Also, many of the amenities in our room didn't work like the gas fireplace, bathtub drain stopper and bathroom fan. Read less

The room was dirty old and full of black mold, other guests trash and hair and pubic hair and we couldn’t brush our teeth The front desk manager offered to compensate 2 breakfast vouchers and change air filter but would not move us or compensate I have extreme allergies. I was sick the rest of the trip had to sleep on floor in bathroom with blankets and pilllows to close doors . We had a 3 hour private lesson yesterday and a 1462 lesson today where the instructor had to come get my son out of bed I wasn’t going to complain but Oscar is the most condescending front manager but another guest was screaming and I finally found the owners Kara own site I showed photos explained and then we were downgraded to a room with no fireplace and no balcony that is just as in need of not only cleaning but repair Read less
