Boston Park Plaza

Boston, USA

The hotel

As synonymous with Boston as the eponymous tea party and cream pie, Boston Park Plaza has been a landmark on the city’s hotel circuit since it opened 90 years ago. Reinterpreted for the 21st century traveller with a $100 million mega-makeover, it now adds contemporary décor and mod-cons to its timeless elegance. And you’re in good company, with all bar two US Presidents staying here since it opened. It’s easy to see why, with a top-drawer location near Boston Common. Of course, they wouldn’t all have experienced today’s attractions, which include a mammoth 20,000 SF Health Club, the nightly cocktail hour (well 5 hours) in the Library, and the New England inspired dining of its Off the Common restaurant, with Boston’s signature lobster rolls a menu favourite.

This is with regards to one night stay at this hotel with booking.con. I had booked one night for my husband who checked out the next day at 12.00 pm. At 5.00 pm I get a credit card transaction saying this hotel has charged GBP 350 on my card taking my card details from booking.com without any authorization from anyone. As I am based in Dubai imagine my shock of being charged such a big amount. I immediately made overseas call to the hotel asking why they did this. They said that the guest has checked in for a week which was completely untrue without checking their facts. When I asked to talk to the manger the lady at the reception kept telling me that the manager in charge has gone for lunch. Also they cannot call me back because they cannot call overseas. I again called them the second once again the lady reception said manager is busy with guests after which I got frustrated finally they reversed the amount . The manner in which they handled the situation was very unprofessional and I will never stay in this hotel again. For those who want to stay please make sure that they do not deduct amount without your consent Read less

My wife and I had a CONFIRMED reservation but, upon arriving at the hotel, were turned away by the rude front desk employee. He advised, despite the fact we had a confirmed registration and email proof of such, he would not give us a room because he considered us "non-essential" ref the COVID rules. We explained there were hundreds of potentially violent protests going on just outside the hotel door and if he didn't honor our CONFIRMED reservation, we would be on foot out in the street with all of our baggage and nowhere to stay. He didn't care and made sure we knew we were NOT welcome to stay in the hotel lobby. Keep in mind, we were not 2 homeless people, we were 2 professionals traveling through the city trying to get back home. The COVID rules clearly state that being stranded with nowhere else to go is an exception to the rule. There was absolutely no reason for us to be denied a room!! The uncaring attitude and willingness to put two travelers in harms way by the Park Plaza Hotel was shocking and completely unprofessional. Fortunately, the Luxor Hotel down the street (much nicer) welcomed us with open arms. Read less

Lovely hotel in one of the hotspots in Boston, Copley. Not too far from Newbury St, two block away from the Boston public garden and easy access to the green line (Arlington train station). Older Boston building, but sleek modern interior; especially the lobby and the bar are swanky. Starbucks in the hotel- which is super convenient in the earlier mornings if the complimentary keurig coffee is not enough for you. Phenomenal service! During our stay the man at the desk was super helpful. I think his name was Jacky, hats off to him. Whether it be navigating the city to getting essentials at the hotel he was professional and extremely helpful. I came during an off season so the prices were affordable, at least in comparison to the airbnbs in Boston with their ridiculous cleaning fees which can cost more than the daily rate. Boston Park Plaza does have a 30 something amenities fee though. The rooms are renovated. What I like most about the rooms, besides the impeccable cleanliness and classic furniture is their google chrome cast for their TV's! This is the first time I have ever been in a hotel that has this amenity. You have the option to be unplugged and tap into your Netflix or HBO on your smart phone, tablet or laptop. I would recommend all my friends to stay here if they were visiting Boston. Read less

I am so impressed with my stay here and had excellent service from beginning to end! I was looking for a last minute room because I was asked to cover a shift as a healthcare worker during COVID-19. From the beginning, I was kindly greeted by someone at the front desk named Jacky. He was extremely professional and personable. In addition, he provided excellent customer service throughout my entire stay. I asked him many questions and requests due to the new COVID rules, and yet he was very patient with me. The room was spacious and they provided all of the things I needed for a comfortable stay. Robes and slippers are available upon request. Most importantly, the room was very clean throughout. What was extremely unique about their rooms is that there is free Chromecast, which gave me the ability to sync my iPad to the TV easily without a cord. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family if you’re looking for a convenient location within the heart of Boston! Read less
