I wouldn't stay here again, it's the most overrated place. We decided we wanted to have a couple of really nice nights in Santa Barbara. There was no pool access and no access to the rooftop bar or any other bar. No restaurant. Strange thing was, they actually had a wedding party on the rooftop while we were there, but as a guest, you could not use it. I spoke to the bride and groom the next day and they said they were devastated by how bad their experience was. Breakfast was limited in a basement room. They advertise a happy hour, when we asked where it was, we were told, "Oh we have a bottle of wine here behind the reception, we can pour you a glass!!!" A wholly disappointing experience for a huge price tag. Our room was small and quite dark. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Nice location - Hotel with character

If your expecting a modern hotel this is not for you as it is a character hotel. Mexican styles, 4 poster bed, traditional bathrooms some may say dated but this is the character of the location. The pool deck was being refurbished but the pool was done during our stay and looks great. Valet staff friendly as were the reception team and this… Read more

This hotel is a wreck… We were looking forward to our stay based on many good reviews (?) and the rooftop patio and pool which is so prominent on their website… Well, the pool and roof top are closed… along with the restaurant… 2 key features… but even if they were available… we would not have stayed here… The hotel is dark, dreary, dirty and very… Read more

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Kimpton, what’s up?

Apr 7, 2022 Venture68324410561

Not worthy of the Kimpton brand: overpriced, average aging rooms and noisy major construction eliminates pool deck, restaurant and most of the lobby. No free wi-fi, or place to hang towels. Pluses: bed comfy and staff nice. But we won’t be back.

Kimpton's are great for dogs and this one had very nice staff, which is why I give them more stars. There is also a great dog park that isn't that far if you drive up the coast a few minutes (10?). It would be nice if there was a safe place with grass so they could relieve themselves. The closest place was dangerous at night. The decor is nice,… Read more

It would be nice if there was a safe place with grass so they could relieve themselves. The closest place was dangerous at night. The decor is nice, but it is in poor condition. They do need to clean much more than they do. Valet attendants were excellent, as was the person at the checkin/out desk. Aside from the dinginess, I had called several times prior to my visit to ask for a room with a balcony. It was one of the things that mattered most. That and access to the rooftop, but that was closed. I had a room with a small couch, but I would rather have had the room I had been requesting. Aside from those things, the staff made up for the last time I stayed there (I had decided to give it another try). It's a great spot if you want to be directly downtown near many restaurants. It's all in walking distance. Read less
