Hotel is in town, good news but overly priced. It needs an update and the notation of a happy hour consists of plastic cups from the desk clerk. The overall feel is not what we were anticipating from the reviews. Please look elsewhere.

This jewel is tucked away in the center of Santa Barbara. Parking is underground or street parking. Gold's Gym is next door. The bus station is but a block away to see Santa Barbara as a resident. Doorman open the entrance at the sight of any guest. Food is 5 star. Ralphs is kiddy corner. Rooms are one of a kind. One feels old Santa Barbara immediately. Tasteful lobby, well lite. Staff 5 star, almost tripping over you to please. Read less

The photos of the rooms are accurate. The hotel is nice, but I read the reviews of people paying $600+/night, and I would definitely not do that for this hotel. It's a perfectly nice hotel but it is not at that level of luxury. As a lot of other reviews mention, the beds are very high. I mentioned this to the staff at checkout and they said I… Read more
The photos of the rooms are accurate. The hotel is nice, but I read the reviews of people paying $600+/night, and I would definitely not do that for this hotel. It's a perfectly nice hotel but it is not at that level of luxury. As a lot of other reviews mention, the beds are very high. I mentioned this to the staff at checkout and they said I could have asked for a stepstool. I highly recommend you do this if you are 5'4" or shorter. It was really hard to get onto the bed. My room had a tub and shower, but note they were two separate entities. No easy way to shave your legs in the shower, which was kinda dark (as opposed to the well lit bathroom) and had a rain showerhead which isn't great to really rinse thick hair. Room service was available and delicious. The location is convenient and extremely walkable, but if you envision yourself wanting to spend more time near the water and/or The Funk Zone, I recommend you look at the hotels down there as it is a bit of a hike to get there. State Street heading towards the water has a lot of closed storefronts and is basically an outdoor mall, with stores like Men's Wearhouse, etc. Santa Barbara used to have a shuttle going that direction but discontinued it due to covid and isn't bringing it back. State St. is closed to auto traffic, so there are many streateries along the way. State St heading in the other direction is slightly nicer and there are some very good restaurants that way. The Public Market is very close by and has delicious ice cream. Read less

Just spent three nights at the Kimpton Canary and here are the pros and cons: Cons: -Spent over $1700 for a three night stay over the holiday weekend. Though the third party site did mention room selection would be placed upon checking in I was placed on the lowest floor with double beds.... -Vanity mirror light, restroom TV, restroom light and room lamps were all malfunctioning throughout our stay. Was not a big deal since we were there to enjoy the outdoors but whoever passed the room did not do a sufficient job... -No canvas bag nor bath robes provided. -Charged $35-$40 daily facility fees when I already paid them through my booking via third party. The Front Desk stated they would make the necessary adjustments after I showed them my receipt/email from the third party site. I am waiting for my final incidentals to be released to make sure I was not charged otherwise I will be asking for the GM to contact me and expecting corrections to be done ASAP. Pros: -Simple and plain the staff made the whole trip worth it! From the rooftop F&B staff, the Front Desk staff who checked us in and last but not least the awesome bellmen who were wonderful to talk to while we left and returned back to the hotel every single day (huge shoutouts to Austin, Adrian and Luke for assisting us every step of the way). The hotel could not have hired a better team to take care of their guests especially at a time when hiring is so difficult to do for various industries especially in hospitality.... -Super Dog friendly. Boom. Read less

On this particular visit, I stayed for four days and we couldn't get near the pool at any point during my visit because there were so many people there who held chairs with their belongings even though they were in the pool or eating at a table. Other than that our visit was good, the staff was helpful and friendly, and the facility is beautifully decorated. The location can't be beat as you can walk downtown, to the harbor and the funk zone. Read less
