Not really any bang for your buck. On a weekday, the standard King room is $350/night and that seems relatively reasonable for a hotel of this calibre. Not really any bang for your buck. On a weekday, the standard King room is $350/night and that seems relatively reasonable for a hotel of this calibre. However, weekend rates are almost doubled and we paid nearly $700 for a 1-night stay (that's Ritz territory). Regretfully, this hotel does not hold up to that kind of price. While the location is top-notch (super walkable downtown), the room was doing little to justify its $700/night price tag. Bed was big and comfortable, but furnishings, fixtures, bathroom and mostly everything was outdated and showing significant signs of wear and tear. While the circa-1999 TV in the bathroom was an intriguing artifact from the last millennium, it did not distract from the fact that the bathroom is in a desperate need of a remodel. Unless you teleported to the hotel or possess the ability to fly, you will pay an extra $36/night for parking. Alternatively, you can battle it out for metered street parking and drag your luggage to your luxury 4-star hotel. Overall, if you want to be as central as possible and explore SB on foot, this is a good choice if you can snag a weekday rate and plan to spend most of the day out and about. Just don't expect serious luxury. Read less

My wife and I stayed at the wonderful Kimpton Canary a few months ago. I thoroughly enjoyed the staff, room, pool, jacuzzi, wine hour and valet. Additionally, the Kimpton is well located just off state street near shopping and restaurants. We can't wait to return.

We were in the Presidio neighborhood which has a lot of the “high end” spots for food, drinks and shopping but we walked to the “Funk Zone” area on the south end of State St every night. You can borrow the bikes for free if you don’t want to walk, which is nice. They have a large rooftop deck with pool and jacuzzi and the sunsets up there are very nice. We were also pleasantly surprised with how nice the bed was, super comfy! I would definitely stay here again. Read less

We used our free IHG anniversary night to stay at this lovely property. Seamless valet ($20 if you have a hybrid), warm and friendly check in by Madison, who gave us an option of a couple different rooms, beautiful room on the fifth floor with a Juliet balcony facing the street (#511), pretty rooftop pool area and large separate terrace. Co-vid protocols followed, with all staff wearing masks, limits on the number of people on rooftop, and hand sanitizer available at numerous stations throughout the hotel. The hotel is a block from the shops and restaurants on State Street. Eric and Edwin at the front desk responded quickly to any requests. Really nice staff all the way around. Only issues were noise transference from adjoining room (we felt like we could have participated in the next door guest’s speaker phone conversation), the mattress or topper probably was ready for replacement in our room (a bit saggy), and bath towels could be plusher. Also it would be nice if you could buy something other than a ($9!) bag of chips with the $10 welcome gift provided to IHG reward members (i.e., typically overpriced hotel snacks). Next time I’ll opt for points. Complaints aside, we loved the hotel and had a wonderful time. Read less

Start with the positives: the staff were lovely and helpful and they were doing what they could during a pandemic to make our stay more enjoyable (like making reservations for the hot tub). That said, for the amount I paid, the location was terrible (located right on a busy street corner). There was street noise (cars, people screaming) all night long. Hardy the peaceful beach vacation I was hoping for. Also, the décor was severely lacking (both literally and figuratively). There was one random chair by the window) and looked dated and disjointed (Spanish tile in the bathroom with attempts more modern aesthetic in the main room). I would not stay here again. Read less
