You can hear everything through the walls, including closet doors opening, entire conversations, walking on floors, crying children, etc. We had to download a white noise app on our phone to listen to white noise to drown some of it out to sleep. We were on 4th floor so did not hear much street traffic (view of parking garage). Rooms have nice wood floors, but may add to the noise problem. Room and bathroom smaller than expected. Not very private bathroom with only slatted louver doors to close between bedroom. Very nice, prompt and easy valet service ($38 charge for overnight valet parking). Very disappointed for $700 per night hotel. Read less

Lovely hotel with a Spanish vibe. My daughter and I were here for Christmas and the hotel was decorated beautifully. Front desk staff were helpful in letting us change to a quieter 4th floor room. Super comfy bed, lovely room but not massively large. It’s about 20 minute walk to the beach which suited us fine. We ate at the Finch & Fork one night and had breakfast in our room one morning as a treat. Both meals were lovely and the staff great. No tea or coffee in the room but they have complimentary tea and coffee in the lobby every morning and although it’s a luxury hotel I felt quite able to go and get tea in the morning in my pj’s! Kameron on the front desk was particularly helpful and a credit to the hotel. All in all I wanted a really special Christmas treat for me and my daughter and that was exactly what we got. Highly recommend. Read less

Very nice staff and the quality you would expect from a Kimpton. But: bathroom had drawbacks. No place for hand towells near sink. There was a rack over the toilet which could have been used, but the rack was around a wing wall and inconvenient. Small shower, with shower head that had limited movement. No room coffee. I’m an inner circle member so big Kimpton fan and decided to stay here due to downtown location. Hotel lobby was nicely decorated and inviting. Front desk folks lacked polish compared to the usual super high quality desk service typical of Kimpton, but nice enough. Did not thank me for loyalty nor provided any comment about my room nor hotel amenities but that was OK since I was tired. Went to my room and as I approached the door I heard someone inside who opened the door for me. It was room service, already in my room. But when they let me in saw another guests luggage and belongings were already in the room. The room service tried to convince me it really was my room but it was obviously already occupied so I dragged my luggage back to the front desk. Wrong room was assigned. Went back up. At this point it was almost 8pm but 11pm eastern time where I started my trip at 6am. There was no in room amenity when I arrived so I called the front desk to ask if it was on its way, if not cancel because I wanted to crash. They said it was on its way. 30 min later no sign. I called front desk again telling them to cancel. It arrived 15 min later and contained items that were the opposite of preferences on my profile. Next morning I got the “how’s it going?” Text and explained. Wow. Returning to my room that night I was greeted by a bouquet of flowers and my favorite amenity with a lovely note. More than made up for the Check-in hick-up. Also on the plus side, morning coffee arrived at 5am! Server was great and thin biscottis were delicious. The hotel is southwestern style, older but I loved it. The location can’t be beat with beautiful restaurants and shops nearby. I never got up to the roof deck but heard rave reviews. I would definitely stay here again but upon check in, double check in the room assignment! Read less

It's walking distance to the shopping district, a short car ride to the beach and the zoo, and close to many, many wonderful restaurants. The staff is really wonderful and made such an effort to make our stay peaceful. A plus for us was free membership to the gym directly across from the hotel. It's a large gym -- Gold's Gym -- and very comfortable for a mom AND a 24-year-old son. Read less
