Just like many other households : COVID played a huge role in 2020 & first half of 2021 for us. My fiancé has underlying medical issues that really kept us fully at home for 1.5 years. Once we got fully vaccinated it was time to start looking at places to safely get out of the Arizona Heat. We had visited The Fairmont Santa Monica before and loved the people and location so after finding a great deal with via American Express we booked our trip for end of June/beginning of July! Shortly after that, we got an email from Garrick in guest services asking if there was anything they could do to make our stay more comfortable. I sent a long a few requests, and let me know how special this trip was to us ::: & they 1000% made us feel beyond special! We felt very safe with the staff wearing masks and everything always looked and felt clean. We know that most hospitality spaces are short staffed - but it did not effect the overall service at the Fairmont bc everyone is so friendly and helpful with any request. They upgraded us to a beyond beautiful room & continued to check in without though out the trip and even after! (Which lead us to booking another stay that starts tomorrow :) We are huge fans of places where the people working start to feel like friends/family and that is how we feel at the Fairmont Miramar. Garrick has gone above and beyond to make sure every detail is thought of and that every trip feels like a true celebration. #onlyatthemiramar #miramarmoments From the valet/bell desk to the front desk to the housekeeping - service with a smile and that California vibe. We will never stay at another hotel when on town!! So thank you Garrick & the entire Fairmont Family for making us feel so special :) Read less

I do not typically stay at 5-star hotels generally stick to 3-4 stars. I thought we would splurge on our last night in California on a 5-star hotel that had good reviews and figured at $600 plus per night it should be good, I was wrong. Check-in was supposed to be at 3:00 arrive at 3:30 room not ready until 4:00 okay, staff was accomodating and… Read more

Check-in was supposed to be at 3:00 arrive at 3:30 room not ready until 4:00 okay, staff was accomodating and gave us food/drink credit. The pool area is way too small for the size of the hotel, could not get a spot by the pool. We decided to eat at the hotel, they served my steak with french fries?? and the food was subpar for a $100 plus meal I expected more:( To get to the beach you have to cross over/under highway 101/Route 1. Description of room states robe, slippers, and fully stocked mini-bar...none of these were in the room. Very loud nightclub next to the hotel, could here until 2:00 AM through closed door asked the front desk for a different room they advised me that they were fully booked, however rooms still available online?? If this is a 5-star experience I will stick to my 3-4 star hotels! Can anyone answer, why is it the more money you spend the fewer amenities you receive? I know some of the cost is due to location, I am okay with this. I just do not understand how when you stay at a 3-star hotel and pay $150-$200 you get free breakfast and yet when you stay at a 5-star hotel and pay $600+ you have to pay an additional $50 for breakfast??? We loved our room, and the view was simply amazing. We've been told that Santa Monica has the world's best sunsets, and that it does! We had room 632 and watched the sunset from our balcony! The staff! The staff! The staff! GiGi at the front desk is the ABSOLUTE BEST!! She took really good care of us and is the true definition of a hospitality professional! Roberto from housekeeking helped us every single day!! Many thanks to GiGi and Roberto -because of you two (and that sunset hehe), we are already looking to return to the Fairmont this holiday season! You two are truly amazing! 5 Stars! We arrived around 3:30, hotel location was perfect, valet was great. Our room was not ready but the front desk assured us it would be ready by 4:30 or earlier. I had no choice so made my way to the "SPA" with all my luggage, only to find out there was one shower that had hot water and needed to wait in line for the shower with my luggage. Finally after 7 we got into our room, they made no apologies and seem to think I was overeating -- no big deal to wait in line for a shower with your luggage at a 5 star hotel. I got the feeling it happens often and the staff just doesn't care. When we finally got into the room, there was one towel, no glasses and no shampoo. Read less

Everything about the place has gone down the drain. From the top down the people involved are the worst of the worst. The food is substantially worse than before, everything is exponentially worse than before. Now it's expanding. Locals have successfully fought some of the expansion but some of it is forced through because of the hotels lawyers. The locals didn't want any of it . I would stay someone else and pay to do so if I had the option of staying here free. Read less
