I visited with my daughter and granddaughter. Our upgraded room due to gold status room was in building 5 with a perfect view of the golf course and the pond. The views from the external hallways were amazing of the large mountain near the property. The entrance was very nice with a beautiful fountain. The valet was available but we self-parked. There are so many outdoor sitting and dining areas, so many fireplaces, too. The pool had a big water slide, they had tortoises, and a koi pond. It is a great destination for families or couples. The amenities include complimentary cruiser bicycle rentals. They have a fantastic happy hour daily in the sports bar with complimentary alcoholic beverages and free candy as well and lots of it. Sometimes the manager on duty even provides free play for the arcade games and bowling. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming. The landscaping is beautiful and well-tended too. Perhaps the best thing, though, is the adoption dog that stays in the lobby. I forget the number of dogs that have been adopted in the past 5 years but it is numerous. Read less

Not what you think - it's massive and no one is terribly friendly. When we checked in (as Marriott members) they told us nothing, it's enormous and the signage is awful and they circled a little spot on a map that was only 1/4 of a letter sized paper and said "there is parking over there". No introduction to the amenities, they didn't tell us there was a happy hour or parking was $16 a day and we asked where we could get coffee, they told us to go to starbucks (where one latte cost $8!) and failed to mention that they had complimentary starbucks coffee! The mini fridge was on the blink and rusty, the whole room seemed to shout "I'm worn down ok?" and there was a loud banging at random, frequent intervals all night (something on the roof was blowing open and shut..) the staff looked tired and unhappy and the electric chargers were never available because guests just parked their cars there and left. When we exited they only then announced the additional $38 a night Resort Fee -so the $262 room after fees, parking, taxes was closer to $350/night. Resort fee? We only slept there - we didn't golf, I never saw a spa, and we weren't told about the dancing or happy hour, or even the free champagne that others apparently got on arrival - it was november - no swimming...I don't mind paying for value, but being blindsided by noise, poor service and extra fees is just too much. The grounds were beautiful and staff was friendly! The only downfall, I was unable to adjust the thermostat in my room. It was stuck on 70. i enjoyed seeing a pup for adoption in the resort; made me smile!

Horrible hotel experience in Palm Springs! I checked into my room and upon arrival after using the restroom I noticed I had no tissue, so I called downstairs to the front desk to have them send me up tissue and waited over 30 minutes to receive tissue. During that time I decided to go ahead and get ready for a shower then I noticed I had no washcloths in my room…so I called back downstairs to follow up with my tissue request and also request washcloths. I still waited another 15 minutes to receive those items. Finally after 45 minutes I was able to go to the restroom and take a shower. Once inside the shower, I had conditioner, shampoo and a second bottle of conditioner, so no body wash! So I had to stop my shower to request body wash. At this point, I called back downstairs to the hotel to not only request the body wash but to also have someone come and clean my room and stock my room, because clearly that was not done. I was told housekeeping will be by in the morning. The resort is very spread out so because of that the front desk told me upon arrival that when it is time for my meeting in the morning to call down to the front desk and they would send someone to pick me up with a golf cart. So I called the next morning at 7:25am for a 7:45am pick up, I waited until 8:05am outside of the building nobody ever came and my meeting started at 8:15 so I had to go! The room is very outdated. There are no plugs on the nightstand near your bed or anything. There is no full length mirror, so I had no clue what I looked like all weekend for a business conference! The shower head is a rain fall shower but the shower itself is not big enough for that type of shower head so water gets everywhere. The restaurants are mediocre! They have limited menus and were out of many things especially for them to be welcoming more than one conference this week. Overall very unhappy especially for it to be Palm Springs. You expect top of the notch, service and amenities and I did not find that here. The only great thing that I would say are the views and the golf course is amazing. Read less

James at the front desk created a very positive first impression of the Westin Rancho Mirage. He was efficient and thorough and added personal touches which were very welcoming. My cell signal around the property is terrible and the wifi is sometimes slow, which makes it difficult to use my cell phone, but the staff are very responsive.
