The hotel

After a big renovation at the end of 2019, you’ll get to check out a brand new Union Square hotel. The Clift Royal Sonesta is a stunning meeting of the glamourous Italian Renaissance-style and the beautiful modern design, reflective of this cutting edge city. The legendary Redwood Room, always a San Francisco favourite, has been refreshed while preserving its iconic history, and there's a new bistro to check out. Even the bees are busy producing honey on the rooftop, ready to add to your drinks and salads.

Upon arrival, we were upgraded to a Junior King suite which was quiet and comfortable with plenty of room to spread out. Warm and hospitable staff who were helpful with neighborhood restaurants and activities and responded promptly and courteously to our requests. The staff and hotel are wonderful. The concierge helped us with reservations for dinner. The staff at Frederick’s were so kind. Unfortunately downtown San Francisco is not safe. The homeless is out of control. My children watched a man defacating across the street. There was a man carrying drug paraphernalia. We never saw a police officer and… Read more

The hotel was an excellent value - great location near Union Square, friendly staff, clean rooms and a beautiful lobby bar with great cocktails. Check in was a breeze and the valet was quick and responsive. I would definitely stay again for the price.

It was very cold. Told the manger Mr Yee about the situation and he didn’t seem to care or try to make it right. Customer satisfaction is always important. Valet… Read more
