What started for us as a bit of a nightmare holiday, the Aston waikiki Beach hotel and staff completely transformed into an amazing holiday for our family. The 1st day didn't go to plan for our group of 5 adults and 2 kids meeting in Honolulu with 3 flights delayed and then having to wait at Avis counter for 3 hours( had booked 2 rooms at Aston each with snooze and cruise package but system only had 1 car rental on Avis's end) then after finally getting into car and paying for the 2nd out of pocket at 2x price of the deal leaving the rental facility with the 2 cars the second car drove over spikes ending up with 2 flat tyres and having to switch car,car seats, hungry kids etc... Finally get to Aston, check into our 2 rooms. 1st room great, but 2nd room missing a bin curtains not working, and beds sinking to point hard to get off bed like a bean bag. So overly annoyed next morning talk to front desk and they give us room upgrade and take care of the car rental issues and give us a discount for all the trouble. I walk away completly impressed with how I didn't have to get stern with everyone and just explain the situation and they just took care of it way above my expectations. From then on we had the best time at the Aston the rooms were great, the rooms turned over daily, the pool was grea for the kids and sun bathing, free pool and beach towels, and the inclusion of the 3x beach rentals for each room per day at the Beach Candy was amazing. We rented beach chairs, sand toys for the kids, SUP, surf/boogie boards every day and it cost us nothing!! This was amazing and the location of everything was superb being across the street from a kid friendly beach with the wall or literally 50 meter walk to stronger surf for the waves. The parking service included with the snooze and cruise package was great. Also not to mention close to Zoo, Diamond Head and on the quite side of Waikiki was great for our family, but also short walk to the louder side if you wanted. Plus the on-site restraint on the pool deck Tikis was amazing for the food and the live music everyday made for a unforgettable family dinner for our group of 7. All that said because we had such a great experience we ended up extending our initial 6 night stay at the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel another 5 nights for my wife and I and our 2 kids and gave us a great rate, the Avis counter at the hotel gave us a great deal to extend the car a week for next to nothing, and the activities desk helped us out with some on island activities. I can't say enough about the Aston Waikiki as this was at the end of a 5 week holiday through Hawaii, California, and Colorado for our family from Sydney AUS. The value of the stay compared to any other of the hotels we stayed at in Maui, Honolulu, multiple hotels in CA, and CO was far and beyond anything else we experienced and the staff were always friendly, helpful, and willing to make up for any issues mistakes or just things to make our stay better. When we come back to Waikiki, we will definitely be staying at the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel more likely sooner than later as we can't wait to get back! Thank you so much to the the entire team at the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel, a must stay for anyone going to Waikiki... Read less

This is one of the least expensive hotels on the strip with great beach access. With that said, it is NOT a fancy resort. This is one of the least expensive hotels on the strip with great beach access. With that said, it is NOT a fancy resort. I don't spend a lot of time in the hotel so it is fine for me. if you like the resort feel and service, this is not your spot. The good: 1) The staff are super nice and accommodating 2) Location - right across from the public beach and near lots of bars/restaurants/zoo 3) Reusable water bottles and water fill up stations so you don't have to keep buying water 4) beach towels and 3 credits per day to use for chairs/umbrella/boards 5) Great views from the partial ocean view rooms 6) the elevators can be a little slow but they only allow two floors to go up and once you're in, it only goes to 2 floors so it is more efficient. 7) There were zero issues with homeless people as noted in an earlier review. In fact, I saw none at all near the hotel. 8) I felt safe at all hours. The bad: 1) was not happy with the hotel buffet style breakfast. Lots of people coughing and touching everything. Opted out after day 1. Food was ok though. 2) As mentioned, this hotel needs an update or at the very least, a good cleaning. Poolside chairs are stained and dirty. Lobby cushions are dirty. hotels balcony could use a mopping. bathrooms are old and the floor could use a bleach mop. Our shower curtain had something gross on it. they came right up with a new one. 3) shower heads are super low and not great pressure 4) rooms are only serviced every 2 days. But if you text them they will bring what you need right away. With that said, garbage cans should be bigger and include a recycle can. our garbage filled up fast. 5) it is noisy on the pool side of the hotel - music, cars, garbage trucks, busses Read less

We stayed here for a girls trip. The location is right on the beach, it also has a great view from the balcony. Service was EXCELLENT, all were so friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself isn’t anything too special- beds, a bathroom and a balcony but the convenience of the location makes up for it. Bed was also very comfortable.

For our first time to Waikiki we decided to splurge and got ourselves a panoramic ocean view room with a balcony. It did not disappoint. Upon arrival, it was confusing as to where the front desk was and how to get to it due to the very confusing elevator system. The front desk service was good, although they gave us a room with a half balcony overlooking the parking lot, so we called to change rooms and they were VERY accomodating and gave us another room, with a FULL balcony and a full ocean view without extra pricing. The room was dated and simple but served its purpose. When we commented about wanting a microwave, they brought one up immediately. There was a keurig in the room and the coffee Kcups were very good. The bed was not bad. It had a flat screen tv which we only used once. The smell of Cannabis/Weed was very strong from our balcony and when we visited Waikiki beach, it is everywhere so be prepared for it. There are homeless around as well, but they do not bother anyone. There is NO laundry self-serve available. No breakfast available. The beach towels can be used for the pool or taken to the beach. That was convenient, we had brought our own but really didn't need to. The hotel provides shampoo, cream rinse and body wash in the showers. Housekeeping will bring extra towels and coffee whenever asked. There is a little store on the first floor but the hours aren't that great 10:30AM to 7:30 PM, Wolfgang Pucks is on the first floor but very high priced, Tiki's is on the lobby level is also high priced but has very good food, right next to the hotel is subway and around the corner a short distance is Denny's , a great alternative to the overpriced restaurants. LuLu's is highly recommended. The beach is right acrossed the street from the hotel. The hotel rooms do not look anything like they do on the internet, but they are decent and clean and serve as a crash pad. we were in room 1207 and the balcony view made the stay well worth it ! There is a small table in the room with 2 stools, I used the stool as a table for the balcony. The hotel also offers Beach Candy Credits, 3 per day, we only used them one day and rented a beach umbrella and two beach chairs. That is a nice perk for staying there. Beach Candy store is right around the corner, very easy to get to. There are two ABC convenience stores right next to the hotel and they offer anything you need at reasonable prices. There is an activities desk on the lobby level 3 and they are fantastic, we talked to the concierge /activities deks PRIOR to coming to Waikiki and they helped set up tours over the phone. They did an amazing job and helped us while we were there as well. There is an escalator that goes from the ground floor to the lobby, level 3 where the front desk, activities desk, pool and Tiki's restaurant are. If you ever figure out the elevevator system.. consider yourself lucky! Read less
