The hotel

The entrance of this hotel is all natural stone and soothing wood panelling, perfectly conjuring up a giant Alpine-style retreat overlooking the picturesque Sierra mountain range and tranquil Lake Tahoe. They’re also completely soundproofed, to ensure you get a great night’s sleep after a busy day on Heavenly’s spacious trails. That’s where the peace and quiet ends though. I already wrote it all out on the other page. Lots of added fees, poor housekeeping, fewer machines to gamble on, no coffee in room (must be supporting starbucks), we did have to call to get a coffee maker and they did send one up. Been going up for 30 years and it's all going down hill.

Plane & limousine service plus the smooth hotel check in was awesome! 19th floor kitchen was great and hopefully will be better, heard their closing for a while, when we get back. The staff and crowd were friendly.

The room was a smoking room by choice; however I would never get one again - I was congested the entire time in the room. The room was lovely - loved the 2 bathrooms and the view. The buffet was wonderful but otherwise finding places to have breakfast were challenging.

From the moment I booked this hotel, it's been a great disappointment. I called to inquire about information on a conference and NOBODY in the hotel knows about it. I got transferred from one person to the next, from reservation, to the hotel front desk, to concierge, and I finally hang up before it reaches the "convention center". Later I learned that this conference has been at the Harrah's hotel for the last 40 years. When I arrived, front desk seems so unhappy. She had very little emotion and just seems miserable behind that counter. When I started walking to my room, the room numbers are barely readable as the colors blend in with the color of the door. Who designed this? Then I see the bathroom with peeling wall paper and unusually low counter top. I flushed the toilet, and the water ran the rest of the day and night. Yes, that's a broken toilet. Just as I was wondering what else was broken, I notice the temperature reads 82 degrees. BUT the room was VERY COLD. Probably a broken HVAC display too. Then, I see the stained sofa, dusty furniture, and dirty curtain. Simply gross. The evenings were horrible as there's constant noises of other hotel guests coming through the vent. This place is just old. Finally, I got to the day of check out. I checked out through TV and called front desk for a receipt. I was told I would get the receipt by email in a hour or so. Of course, I didn't receive the receipt for three days. Here it goes again, call, get transferred, hang up, call again. It's like pulling teeth just trying to get a receipt. I certainly did not have any good experience staying here. Read less
