Harrahs

Heavenly, Lake Tahoe

The hotel

As soon as you arrive, you’ll see the natural stone and soothing wood panelling, like a giant Alpine-style retreat. This one overlooks the picturesque Sierra mountain range and Lake Tahoe. You can even enjoy these views from the picture windows in your room which, handily, is soundproofed to make sure you get a good night’s sleep. You may need it after exploring Heavenly's trails. Plus there’s so much to do here, from gambling in the casino and taking in one of the shows, to dining in fabulous restaurants (or in the all-you-can-eat buffet if you’re really hungry!). If all that sounds far too strenuous by half, fear not. The spa treatments, steam room, heated pool and sauna are all perfect for relaxing.

Stayed here for a few days while vacationing in Lake Tahoe. Hotel is really in need of a major remodel. While our room was good sized and comfortable, the desk and dresser were missing large areas of finish, worn off. Paint was scuffed off on the door frames and paper was peeling in the bathrooms. Pool was nice though they should turn off the AC as it was frigid getting out of the water, and it is an indoor heated pool. Do have showers and changing room in the pool area. Food court prices were staggering, we had better prices down the street at full service restaurants. Big complaint was we lost power at 8 pm and no announcement, no explanation; our room was dark but I always carry a flashlight. Went downstairs to the mostly dark casino to spell my wife who was playing- and had money in a machine so she could use the restroom without losing her $. They did finally manage to get people cashed out using extension cords. Only some elevators were working so was leery about using them. Asked where the stairs were at the front desk, they did not know! Then I was told I could not use the stairs, unless I had a security guard accompany me back to my room. Bizarre and maybe not legal, stairs should be accessible when there are power outages. Staff need to be trained on what to do and say in such situations. Most of the hotel was without power and we woke up and checked out, still no power, no explanation, no apology for the inconvenience even. No hot water at all so we could not even take a shower. Really a big failure on their part- they could not help the power outage as it was more than Harrah's, it was their poor handling of the situation and not making any announcements. Don't plan on staying here again. Read less

No maid service, power was out last night with no hot water for showers. Room had not been cleaned thoroughly as someone's underwear was in the room. Carpets worn and furniture stained. Overall a very run down hotel.

I barely spent any time on the casino floor, but in one night I was harrased twice by Larry, the Mask Gestapo. He seems to have found a perfect target in me to exercise his powers. If my mask was down for a few seconds between a sip of a drink, he was there to call security on me. I respect the rules and kept my mask on for the majority of the… Read more

If my mask was down for a few seconds between a sip of a drink, he was there to call security on me. I respect the rules and kept my mask on for the majority of the time when around other people, but I can't drink through the mask. Twice in one day in about two hour span I was approached by the Mask Gestapo. Not sure why he singled me out. I saw other patrons with masks down while drinking or smoking. Ruined my experience. Harrah's Lake Tahoe provided a beautiful, super clean and spacious room with 2 bathrooms. We loved the room and the view! We completely expected certain things/services to not be provided. With that in mind, we were prepared for our stay. I noticed prior to our arrival that there were reviews from people who were upset that there was no housekeeping or a refrigerator during their stay due to Covid restrictions. I didn't understand those reviews. Why would you want or expect those things during a pandemic? Anyway, we appreciated the screening prior to checking in and the outstanding service provided by Laura at the front desk. She made sure that we had an awesome visit. Covid safe: We did not take offense to the security asking people to make sure their masks were placed properly at all times. My husband just took a sip of his drink when approached and asked to put his make back up. They were on it and we should all appreciate their efforts to keep us safe during these times. Everything was clean and machines wiped down often. It seemed like the staff were working very hard to help people to enjoy their time in a safe environment. Parking was free during this time and no problem. Overall, everything was wonderful and we are grateful for the staff at Harrah's for making this a stress free and wonderful visit. We cannot wait to come back! Read less

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and made sure all the guests followed the rules for masks & distancing. My room was extremely clean and had 2 bathrooms which was great. The restaurants that we ate at were clean also. Overall it was a great experience, and I will go back again. Read less
