Harrahs

Heavenly, Lake Tahoe

The hotel

As soon as you arrive, you’ll see the natural stone and soothing wood panelling, like a giant Alpine-style retreat. This one overlooks the picturesque Sierra mountain range and Lake Tahoe. You can even enjoy these views from the picture windows in your room which, handily, is soundproofed to make sure you get a good night’s sleep. You may need it after exploring Heavenly's trails. Plus there’s so much to do here, from gambling in the casino and taking in one of the shows, to dining in fabulous restaurants (or in the all-you-can-eat buffet if you’re really hungry!). If all that sounds far too strenuous by half, fear not. The spa treatments, steam room, heated pool and sauna are all perfect for relaxing.

The Harrahs Hotel charges ridiculous prices for rooms that look like cheap motel rooms. The price we paid for two executives suits was way over priced for the quality we received from our rooms and hotel staff. The hotel staff was very rude and unpleasant to speak with when asking questions. The first thing we noticed when we got to our rooms was the destroyed roof above us when walking into our rooms. It was a lot worse than the picture I took! Than when entering the rooms, there was a lot of issues. When I opened the bottom drawer for clothes, it immediately fell on top of my bare foot. I did get a little bruise on my foot, and was not pleased that the drawer handles fell right off when you go to open any of the drawers or doors that had with those handles. All the wood had chipped pieces in it or chipped paint. The windows were tapped with duck tape because there was no weather stripping. That right there shows me the height of laziness this hotel has. We even noticed the windows weren’t set properly in their frames and when looking at it we realized someone could just lift the window and take it out of the frame if they really wanted too. Very unsafe! A couple of their elevator button covers had full holes in some of the plastic covers over the buttons. I was afraid to hit the broken plastic covers as I didn’t want to snag my skin. The hallway on our floor had many rips and stains on the wallpaper as well. The windows wood shades behind the curtains in our room had lots of scratches in the wood as well as all of the other wooden furniture in the room. It almost looks like they bought used furniture with how used and old they look. It shows me that the care that goes into the rooms is very little! When you are charging such high prices for the littlest quality a hotel could offer, you loose a lot of customers that could become returning customers. It was very upsetting to pay that kind of money for a hotel room that looks like a Motel when you entire an executive suit at Harrahs!?! For a multi billion dollar casino/hotel you’d think they would do a better job with the upkeep of their hotel. The prices for food and drinks in the hotel were way over priced for any meal in that place. My parents room was overly dusty after just one day. The air vents looked like they’ve never been cleaned before with the amount of dust falling from them! The outlet covers were taken off in our rooms. Both doors had the security latch lock taken off. Which made us all feel extremely unsafe. There was blue tape all over the doors as reminders for the employees to fix it but no one came and did anything. My parents room had their wallpaper falling off the wall which is just wrong! For an executive suit it should look a hell of a lot nicer than the cheat motel looking rooms we got! Take this not as a bad comment but as ways to improve your hotel quality! If Harrahs is a multi billion dollar casino/hotel these problems should be fixed with no trouble before the guest enters their room! I definitely won’t be retuning to the Harrahs hotel any time soon and I recommend you don’t either! There’s three other hotels less than a minute walk away from Harris that seem much more put together than Harrahs seems to be. If a room is needing repair your first move should not be to stick more guests in it and hope they don’t say anything. You should have the room put together and any problems fixed before the guest arrive to their rooms! Not impressed at all by the quality of the hotel. Do not get a room at the Harrahs hotel unless you want an expensive bill for a cheap motel room in a casino.... Read less

The room was clean, yes outdated but acceptable. I enjoyed having a his and hers bathroom! I think it's the best part of having a room at Harrah's Lake Tahoe! All the employees wore masks and I can tell the employees were a bit overworked. They didn't seem happy to be there. Interestinly, the hotel only does temperature checks of people checking in at front desk...not everyone in the party is checked. Also, no one coming into the casino is checked for temperature. There were no temp checks at any of the restaurants either. This is quite different from California. The Starbucks in the lobby is overpriced compared to the Starbucks down the street. The food options were rather limited but it was sufficient. We dined at Friday's Grill and the cafe. Both were adequate. The food court was ok too. Our best meal was off property at an authentic Italian restaurant Capisce that was recommended by our Uber driver. The hotel is located within walking distance to the Heavenly Gondola, which is the main reason we chose this hotel. We went snowboarding while there, and it is an easy walk from the hotel. There are many options to eat at the Heavenly Village, though during covid, it is currently all take out on the California side. On the Nevada side (hotel), all sit down restaurants require a reservation for dine-in. Read less

We stayed through New Years. The location in the center of town was excellent. The rooms were tattered and shabby. The Wallpaper was torn in several places and taped up with packing tape. Furniture was scuffed and chipped; mildew in shower. COVID conditions, so no room clean up (understandable) but ZERO alternative plans for trash pick up - it was left out all over the halls and not picked up overnight. All restaurants were rsvp only & take out -again great, but again very poorly planned— restaurants took so many to go orders they could not serve reserved tables and we waited for reserved tables and/or food once seated a minimum of 3 hours anywhere in Harrahs or Harvey’s because the kitchen could not clear the floor with so many to go orders accepted. The staff was evenly divided between over the top excellent customer service and very obviously would rather have been anywhere else. All in all - the room conditions did not match the extreme holiday pricing we paid. We would likely not book here again until the promised renovation occurs. Read less

First time we stayed in Harrah's hotel as they're always booked or kinda expensive. As we got 2 nights comps this time. I like the room as its huge with big sofa, 2 bathrooms his and hers. Our room with a view of lake and mountain. Front desk employees are very gracious and pleasant. We will definitely stay here again next time.
