The Garland

Hollywood, Los Angeles

The hotel

Set in seven, leafy North Hollywood acres, The Garland is a relaxing, family friendly boutique hotel that doesn’t skimp on style while placing you and your tribe within a free shuttle ride of Universal Studios and a wealth of other essential LA attractions and experiences. The vibe here is funky retro, from the indecently comfortable leather armchairs by the lobby fireplace to room and suites (including family suites) that feature back-in-the-day geometric prints and funky furniture. Farm-fresh dining is the order of the day here, and we love The Garland’s weekly programme of muck-in activities that includes guided urban walks, Dive-In movies by the pool and courtyard games.

I stay two nights in the Garland, at the beginning I was not sure if it was nice but after walking in into the reception I like it,big fire place and modern but warm look. Beautiful modern rooms, great gym and pool with jacuzzi by the outside fire place. Nice restaurant and 20min walk from Universal park I really enjoyed my stay at the Garland.

This boutique hotel has my heart. The pool area I never wanted to leave. The styling is perfection throughout and the specialty cocktails did not disappoint. It transports you back to glam 60s California. I can’t wait to go back honestly this is my happy place. If you are visiting universal the trolley is so easy.

This hotel is beautiful and in a great location. The food in the hotel is lovely and the breakfast is good value for money. I would have given a 5. Star review as our room was very comfortable and quiet cannot fault at all ( we was on the back of the building not facing the highway). However others who were with us were on the front and could hear the traffic only to be told if they wanted to move it would be $30 extra a night. This is wrong and people should be warned of this beforehand. We only paid an extra £30 at the beginning for our room and we only paid this as we wanted a twin room otherwise we would have been in the same position as the other people we was with and being forced to pay $30 extra a night. Funnily enough we was asked when we checked in if we also wanted to pay $30 extra a night for an “upgrade”. Please stop doing this as seems a way the hotel makes money from people. Other than that the hotel is beautiful and I would recommend it providing your at the back of the building and cannot hear the traffic. If you can sleep with ear plugs on then you’ll be fine. The pool/jacuzzi area is lovely and open until 10pm everyday it is also heated so can be used all year round. This is great! Read less

We stayed at the Garland for a couple of nights before my daughter's gymnastics meet in Anaheim. We stayed here as it was closer Universal Studios and Warner Brothers which we were visiting the next couple of days. Shuttle service to Universal Studios was very convenient. The room was kind of retro chic with a painted cinder block wall on one end of the room, two comfortable beds, and a nice if not opulent bathroom. Our eight year old son wanted to swim in the pool even though it was about 65 degrees outside. He did it because he's 8 years old and from Minnesota but it was too cold for the rest of us. The bar adjacent to the pool was convenient if a little pricey but not out of ordinary for the area. We had a nice stay and I don't really have any complaints. Read less
