The room and desk service were very nice, but there was no food offering due to Covid. We were able to get a glass of champagne on our way in, but we couldn’t get coffee. Not in the room or by room service. For the price we paid for a King room with ocean view (barely), I felt that the whole experience was over priced. We could have gotten a better deal, closer to the ocean with better views and closer to the Pier and shopping for similar pricing. As a Marriott rewards member I had a higher expectation. Read less

This is my 2nd time staying here and I won’t lie the 1st stay was amazing. That’s why i decided to come back this year. This recent stay was just HORRIBLE! So They charge a fee for early check in even though you arrive close to 2pm. The hotel wasn’t even busy or full. I was never charged a fee before. So here goes the agent saying well sir check in is at 3pm if u don’t want to pay the $25 fee for early check in come back later. (Ridiculous! Rip off) Sure. I paid for it as we were exhausted from the long drive from Chicago. Yes Chicago!! The agent was heartless and did not care. I explained to the agent that it’s only an hour and some minutes away from 3pm but anyway he insisted it was a mandatory fee. So be it. And also they charge this thing called amenity fee that he mentioned. They said it includes bike usage and some sanitizer/gloves/mask and a glass of wine or smethng. So I was ok to pay for it as they mentioned it on their website and as well as check in. That’s fine as majority of all hotels do that before. But since covid happened all hotels are not charging that since amenities are closed like gym/pool/spa so kind of surprising they still charge this. This is like a $40 fee on top of your room/tax payment. Anyway my day was already ruined from the check in service. It’s funny how they squeeze every penny from you especially at this time. So when I checked out, the agent asked how my stay was, I told her how it was not pleasant to charge $25 fee for guests arriving an hour early before check in, she explained yes it’s a mandatory fee we charge now for everyone arriving early. and I said ok I understand, things Change and policies change, and that the room did not come with the mask/sanitizer that they mentioned that was part of the $40 fee they charge. So I was just curious if i actually pick it up from them or what. Well It seems to me that they were fed up of my feedback because it looked like that wasn’t the first time a guest complained about those ridiculous fees. They were quick to say oh the rooms did not come with the items? ok we will take out that amenity fee. I wasn’t trying to get anything disputed, I merely just said how I felt about my stay since they asked. And I felt like I deserved a better treatment than being told “well if u don’t want to pay the $25 check in, u can wait til 3pm” that’s just very awful service knowing it shows u are a category 6 of a Marriott. And the fact you asked how my stay was and I mentioned that it was unpleasant, you would get defensive of your new rules and mandatory policies. No apologies no nothing. Just pure silence of anger from them after they said well these are new policies and we cannot do anything. Then why did u even bother asking how my stay was?? If u don’t want an honest feedback. Therefore I would never ever ever ever stay here again even if their rate would drop to $10 a night. And by the way I forgot to mention, the long mirror near the couch had a fake lashes stuck to the mirror from your previous guest. That’s when u know the room wasn’t even properly cleaned nor sanitized. Read less

I told the staff and they told me my room was already occupied by other guests. They did not offer to change my room or accommodate me in any way. Instead, they told me I can get a refund and stay somewhere else or have additional fees taken out. I am very displeased with the service here and I do not ever plan to come back. It is not right to be treated this way and say my room was taken by other customers when I had booked it weeks ahead of time. I am very displeased with my experience here. Read less

I have stayed at several other Le Meridien properties and this one doesn’t hold up. I realize offerings are cut short due to Covid but this is my experience. I am a Marriott Bonvoy Silver elite member and had booked this hotel a few weeks in advance. When we checked in we were told there were no king rooms available which is what we had booked. The hotel was not very full due to COVID (the parking garage was almost empty) so we found this pretty strange. They have no restaurants open, and you won’t even get a coffee maker in your room. The fitness room was closed; pool is open but it’s a small area. Obviously, there is no daily cleaning service which was fine. However when we ran out of body lotion and asked them to send some we got tubes of body wash instead. While the main areas of the hotel look stylish and new you can tell the rooms are refurbished from an old hotel. Our bathroom was particularly in need of attention. For example, the baseboard molding was dirty and part of the cabinet was nailed shut. We had a small balcony that faced Pico so if the door was open it was quite noisy. It is a short walk to the beach and the Santa Monica Pier but the walk down is a little sketchy. Maybe this is typical for the Los Angeles area but we frequently walked past empty wine bottles, trash, and people living on the street. We wouldn’t stay here again. The amount these hotels are still charging with zero service is disappointing. Read less
