Meritage Resort and Spa

Napa, Napa Valley Wine Region

The hotel

You know you’ve reached wine country when you arrive at Meritage Resort & Spa. On the threshold of Napa Valley, its design may be Tuscan-inspired, but its soul is pure Napa, with views of a grapevine-covered slope as you swim, hiking (or strolling) trails through nine acres of vineyards, an underground tasting room, and wine served at every turn. But it’s also a place that recognises exceptional wine should be paired with life’s other luxuries: separate adult and family pools, al fresco fireplaces and whirlpools, lazy Sunday brunches, and wining and dining venues like award-winning Siena, the Crush bowling lounge, a café-come-gelateria, and a luxury wine bar. But it’s the Estate Cave that promises the most indulgence; 40 ft underground, it hosts a wine tasting room and Spa Terra’s steam grottos and soaking pools.

We went for a romantic weekend. Choice the Spa package room stating you had access to the facilities. Hot tubs, pool etc and $100 spa credit. The Cave Spa is great but it's divided by sex so there is no couples hot tub in the spa. The outside hot tub by our room was out of order. So the $200 upgrade to get a $100 credit was bogus! This hotel was chosen for our business meeting. Facility very nice. Some of my colleagues found a better rate on line than what the hotel offered so I will do this research next time. We enjoyed our walk to the top of the vineyard on the property.

This is now a large resort with a great SPA free parking, great food and a wonderful atmosphere. The only drawback is that it might be too big while smaller places have more local charm. The food is great, the grounds are wonderful and the adjoining vinyard is a great place for a stroll.

WAY over priced. Dated. Terrible and EXPENSIVE room service. Poor choice of restaurants, although Siena meals were good. Managers don't follow through with offered discounts. Room credits ($50 per day for meals) are never applied. Shampoo and soap are not restocked. Otherwise, the view was nice. LOL

The rooms were amazing. Spacious and comfortable. The shower with all its jets was a great experience in itself. The location was awesome. You could walk across the street and have many winery tasting rooms there as well as food and entertainment. I would recommend a car to see all the wineries in the area.
