Meritage Resort and Spa

Napa, Napa Valley Wine Region

The hotel

You know you’ve reached wine country when you arrive at Meritage Resort & Spa. On the threshold of Napa Valley, its design may be Tuscan-inspired, but its soul is pure Napa, with views of a grapevine-covered slope as you swim, hiking (or strolling) trails through nine acres of vineyards, an underground tasting room, and wine served at every turn. But it’s also a place that recognises exceptional wine should be paired with life’s other luxuries: separate adult and family pools, al fresco fireplaces and whirlpools, lazy Sunday brunches, and wining and dining venues like award-winning Siena, the Crush bowling lounge, a café-come-gelateria, and a luxury wine bar. But it’s the Estate Cave that promises the most indulgence; 40 ft underground, it hosts a wine tasting room and Spa Terra’s steam grottos and soaking pools.

Multiple staff members miscommunicated with my about them hours of Crush and the lobby bar. I was told Crush was closed, by the bartender. The front desk said it would be open. I asked her twice to make sure. I confirmed with my colleague they were told this as well. We changed our reservations for dinner so we could make it to the venue and meet with clients we invited. When we arrived I was then told I needed my conference badge by security. I walked the long walk to my room to get this, as requested. When I returned I was then told it was the wrong one and it was reserved for a private event. This could have been communicated many times prior to this. My clients were perplexed and so was I. The security was also short and a bit rude with me, as if I had done something wrong. The hotel lobby bar manager was also a bit short with my colleagues when we arrived there. They promptly closed the bar here upon arrival as well. Many of our customers were simply trying to find a place to gather and catch up. I have attended this conference for five years, staying at this “resort” each time. I feel the staff had multiple opportunities to communicate more effectively and knowing that Crush was the only late night space available, many other opportunities to accommodate a group could have been prepared for. This was a huge miss and even a revenue opportunity for your hotel. Read less

We visited Meritage and booked several rooms, and it was ovee $1000 per room. The rooms are in poor conduction. One of the lights in the bathroom was flickering the whole time, and we asked for someone to come by and fix. No one ever showed up. The customer service was very poor. Upon check-in, there were a few employees at the desk. They decided to huddle and chat. And only had one person working to check-in guests, while the guests waited in a long line. This is by the far the worst hotel I’ve stayed at in Napa. Will not be returning. Read less

This is my first ever review written because I could not NOT write a review! Overall, the hotel is good. The adult pool and the services around it was great! The bed was comfy and the room was okay for the price, HOWEVER, we paid 5,000 for a 6 night stay and only had housekeeping 3 nights. We almost ran out of toilet paper AFTER letting the front desk know, which we STILL DID NOT GET TOILET PAPER! The day before our last day, we had to call for fresh towels and had already spoke with the front desk regarding these concerns. On our last night, after speaking with front desk staff about toilet paper, we still never received any! There were tons of conferences going on, which is great for the hotel, but for day to day guest, this really affected the use of the hotel’s restaurants which is one reason we stayed here at a RESORT! Unfortunately, this was by far our least favorite resort stay and would really recommend everyone to look into other places. Customer service can truly make a trip for us and this “resort” truly needs some assistance in this area!! Read less

This is the second time staying at this resort -- once pre-pandemic and again over a three-day weekend to attend wedding festivities on site. WOW! When we checked in, they were able to accommodate us even though it was earlier than noon when check in time is at 4 pm. We were offered glass of champagne while the reception and front desk processed us. Upon entering the room, the first thing we saw was the outdoor patio and tons of natural light streaming through our window with a pool view. Nice. The room also came with a complimentary bottle of wine to welcome us, a fridge, posh robes and slippers. Love it. We ate at Olive and Hay a few times-- food and service is top notched. At brunch, we had a party of 14 but the chef executed all the dishes on a timely manner, our mimosas kept coming and the floor staff was on point, keeping an eye on us. We had Omar and his female team member. Together, they were totally in synch with the service and also with the kitchen. The pool area was fun. Why? Their DJ spun upbeat grooves, making this area filled with good vibes. Loved the music and met other poolside companions. At the Meritage, we were treated to a complimentary black shuttle bus to get to wedding site up the hill with expansive views of vineyards. A domed steel birdcage shaped served as backdrop to nupitals and the ceremony was beautiful with pano views of Napa natural wonders. After the wedding, we took stairs down to the reception area where drinks and passed hor's duerves were served. The drinks were standard but the appetizers were delicious and wait staff were excellent. Friendly, worked the room to make sure guests had access to food, and very efficient. Dinner was served in a beautiful cave with uplights. Two entree choices-- the fish and steak-- cooked to perfection. This cave made the wedding surreal. The bride and groom held their after party at Crush Lounge. Again, the wait staff were excellent, watched the late night snacks , replenished and cleaned as needed. There were sliders, fries, ice cream with fudge, cookies and more. The bar was also opened. For entertainment, of course the bowling alley was utilized for all guest, dancing to DJ, pool table, and more games. OMG... so much fun! Our check out was also smooth and fast. Merigage was not only beautiful as a resort, but it was very very clean and we loved their staff. You will love this place in Napa! I'll be coming back. Read less

The staff is unresponsive, no hospitality going on here. It seemed as maybe the staff was brand new but no one knew anything and you could have waited a minute and ask the same question and you would get a different answer. It seemed as maybe the staff was brand new but no one knew anything and you could have waited a minute and ask the same question and you would get a different answer. The front desk put a hold on my credit card for $1799.99 without letting me know for miscellaneous accidentals, and let me tell you nothing in these rooms is worth that kind of money. The rooms are old and so very outdated. Chair broken, bathroom door didn't close, balcony door with huge gab for bugs to come in. Had a resort credit through Costco that was never applied and still waiting to see if it ever will. For a beautiful area like this it was just so very disappointing. Read less
