Meritage Resort and Spa

Napa, Napa Valley Wine Region

The hotel

You know you’ve reached wine country when you arrive at Meritage Resort & Spa. On the threshold of Napa Valley, its design may be Tuscan-inspired, but its soul is pure Napa, with views of a grapevine-covered slope as you swim, hiking (or strolling) trails through nine acres of vineyards, an underground tasting room, and wine served at every turn. But it’s also a place that recognises exceptional wine should be paired with life’s other luxuries: separate adult and family pools, al fresco fireplaces and whirlpools, lazy Sunday brunches, and wining and dining venues like award-winning Siena, the Crush bowling lounge, a café-come-gelateria, and a luxury wine bar. But it’s the Estate Cave that promises the most indulgence; 40 ft underground, it hosts a wine tasting room and Spa Terra’s steam grottos and soaking pools.

The vineyard was nearly dead across from our room, across a parking lot, and appeared to be put there as supposed ambiance, which it had none. Only restaurant was more like a cafeteria, drinks were incredibly expensive, no one would answer front desk on repeated calls so no calling ahead for valet or getting a bellman to help with your luggage. All for $450 a night. Read less

There aren’t too many places to stay in Napa that are a resort like this but some of the reviews about customer service were not great. I figured even if we had bad service that we could ignore it as long as the place was nice. I was curious to see if checking in would be as bad as some people have said. I figured even if we had bad service that we could ignore it as long as the place was nice. I was curious to see if checking in would be as bad as some people have said. I was pleased that it was actually a great check in and the girl at the desk was so nice. We went as a couples vacation to Napa and they recently got engaged so i asked about upgrading their room and Sharmine was such a help at getting them a nice room and some wine for them. Overall great stay Read less

The hotel is about an hour from the Santa Rosa airport (cute and quaint). Check in was simple, and the hotel itself is quite beautiful. We enjoyed the pool and the room was great. The decline was for two reasons, 1. Very few gluten - free options across the board. 2. Their "grocery" is not a grocery. You need to go to Trader Joes or Target up the way (just uber/lyft there). 3. Poor service. Highlight: The trail around the vineyard above the spa (spa Terra). We ran it everyday. Lowlight: Service. It took us a long time to get tea (not replenished in our room) for one of us with a sore throat, and to get our television replaced (darkness was broken). Read less

Looking for a winery resort then keep looking. No Bell Staff or Valet to greet you and all for $500 bucks a night. Also you schlep your own luggage like at the Marriott Courtyard but the Courtyard is better. Get to your room and find it dirty. Then change rooms and get a lovely view of the parking lot. Meritage is not worth the hype or money.… Read more

This resort met our expectations. It is well located and the grounds are nicely kept. The staff exceeded our expectations as they provided excellent service, specially Adrian (front desk) and Elizabeth Ruiz (housekeeping).
