Meritage Resort and Spa

Napa, Napa Valley Wine Region

The hotel

You know you’ve reached wine country when you arrive at Meritage Resort & Spa. On the threshold of Napa Valley, its design may be Tuscan-inspired, but its soul is pure Napa, with views of a grapevine-covered slope as you swim, hiking (or strolling) trails through nine acres of vineyards, an underground tasting room, and wine served at every turn. But it’s also a place that recognises exceptional wine should be paired with life’s other luxuries: separate adult and family pools, al fresco fireplaces and whirlpools, lazy Sunday brunches, and wining and dining venues like award-winning Siena, the Crush bowling lounge, a café-come-gelateria, and a luxury wine bar. But it’s the Estate Cave that promises the most indulgence; 40 ft underground, it hosts a wine tasting room and Spa Terra’s steam grottos and soaking pools.

It appeared attractive and seemed to have nice amenities, but the lack of response to a real problem after we left appears to show a real lack of care for the guests. I realized on arriving home I left my toiletry bag in the room. We called that same day and were told we would be called back whe the room was searched. We received no call. A we called the next morning to no answer and left a message. We sent an email the next night with no response. Very disappointing response and disappointing loss. I would expect at least a response or apology, but really it should be found and returned in the mail. I left no valuables in the toiletry bag except some face washes and creams, I hope someone wouldn't have kept some half used toiletries. I suppose I could be wrong. Read less

What a major disappointment! We have gone to spa Meritage several times and each visit was pure bliss! This year one thing after another went poorly. When we checked in they negelected to remind us that a glass of wine was included in the package. An attendant encouraged us to purchase a bottle. When we asked for a glass after a treatment the bathroom attendant told me there was nothing in on record and made me leave the spa area to the checkout area to clarify the matter. This was so frustrating because it totally took me out for f the relaxation frame of mind and I felt self conscious talking about the matter in a public area in my spa robe! The attendant neglected to tell me there was a phone inside the spa that could have saved me the embarrassment. My massage with Manuel was OK-would try someone different if I ever went back- which is doubtful -given the price and that you’re forced to give a 20percent tip, Another problem occurred when we wanted to use the pool-part of the package-another attendant was unable to get the gate open. Very nice hotel. Rooms were great. So much to offer. My only complaint was having a room over an event space. There was a party until about 2:00 am one night that kept us up. Otherwise everything was really great.

I would never recommend this resort and I would never leave such a comment but I do not want anyone to experience what my family and I went through. Taking time away from our busy lives to enjoy a family wedding should be relaxing ..... not with this resort. Huge disappointment. Lack of service from management was a huge factor as to my choice of leaving a review. Property itself has some beautiful views Food was really good. Mind you we where with a wedding party of 200 guest and they did have a catering company. The spa is also very nice. Gym is very clean and everything seems to be new. Upon check everything was great. Staff was friendly and got our room sorted quick. We went upstairs and they said they would bring all our bags to our room. We had dinner reservations for 8:30pm. Between 7:15 and 8:15 I called 4 times to see what was going on with our bags. Finally I got fed up and went down myself. Only to see the bell cart still sitting in the lobby. I pulled it back to my room myself. We missed our dinner reservations which was super disappointing. I went to the front desk to express my frustration. The gentleman said he would check with his manger to see what they could do for us and get back to me. I feel the front desk people should have the ability to make decisions rather than always checking with a manger. It could have been an easy fix. Give us a voucher for dinner from the room service.... pretty basic! Instead they sent us a wine bottle to the room. There was a nest of birds on my balcony which I called to have sorted out because they would start crying/chirping at 4am. My kids are 4 and 6 and they too where woken by them. After about an hour of them chirping at 4am I decided to call the front desk. I was told they couldn’t do anything until 7am. Later that day I went down to the front desk as I could still here them. They placed another order which still didn’t seem to do anything. After the 2nd morning I decided to ask to have our room changed. I was told that it was not possible as we had booked with a group. The front desk rep said he would email my request and if the manger would respond he would let me know. I’ve been in the customer service industry for 16 years and did not feel like it was a priority. There where plenty of other rooms that they could have switched us too. Our room was also very dark no Windows’s although we did have a balcony our room was in a corner and it was in an awkward place which didn’t allow any natural light to come through. I received a voice mail msg on the phone from a manger. She was wondering if everything thing was okay. I called the front desk back and nobody picked up. As a manger of customer service myself, I would make it a priority to speak to clients/guest in person to resolve any issues. I can understand with the hotel industry it may be challenging as people may be in and out. However, still not acceptable. I have a million suggestions but I’ll let them figure it out. 2-housing keeping issues I would make sure you keep you all valuables in the safe. We had our room cleaned one of the days and they took all the towels and did not replace with anything. My kids where in the shower and the floor shower door leaks so water was all over the floor. At this point we have 2 more nights here and I’m not looking forward for the rest of the stay. We ordered fruit and some pastries for the kids one morning. We decided to go for a walk around the property and when we returned to our room the pastry’s and fruit plate had been cleaned away. There was only 2 pastries and maybe half the fruit eaten. We even had a do not disturb sign on the door as there was an issue with something that was “misplaced” the day before. I’m hopeful that the management team will make the rest of our stay better. We are willing to see how they make this up to us. Read less

We stayed at the Meritage on 04/27/19 for a wedding and prepaid for our room on a partner site. At check-in, we were asked for a credit card for incidentals, which is normal. We stayed at the Meritage on 04/27/19 for a wedding and prepaid for our room on a partner site. At check-in, we were asked for a credit card for incidentals, which is normal. What was not normal was being charged $880 for the room after we had checked out. I only noticed the charge a couple of days later and it was by chance. When my wife called about charge she was told that it was our responsibility to tell them at check-in that the room was prepaid. I have never had to do this at any hotel, ever. After a runaround and several phone transfers, a refund was supposedly issued but we are still waiting for it. Mistakes happen and that is understandable but the lack of a timely resolution considering the level of service they advertise has definitely put a bad taste in our mouths and I would not recommend any Meritage Collection properties.
