Flamingo

The Strip, Las Vegas

Virgin rating

The hotel

This historic hotel was built by Vegas legend, Bugsy Siegel back in 1946 and it's seen countless celebrities walk through its doors in the last 60 years, as well as being the backdrop for the original Ocean's Eleven film and Viva Las Vegas. It has an amazing location right in the middle of The Strip and near the fantastic Caesars Forum Shops, with award-winning Flamingo Go Rooms. The hotel is great for kids with its amazing Beach Club Pool. The GO Pool offers a 21+ lively pool party experience with its amazing 15-acre tropical pool paradise, which has whirlpools and four different swimming pools nestled among the lush, green foliage. Then there's the Wildlife Habitat, where the resort's eponymous flamingos hang out with turtles, swans and ducks. There's a choice of seven restaurants including Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville and Margaritaville Casino, featuring the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar. Margaritaville is as much a state of mind as it is a place. The multi-level Caribbean-themed entertainment venue offers two outdoor patios overlooking the Las Vegas Strip, a nautical-themed restaurant, four distinctive bars, live entertainment nightly (both indoors and outdoors) and a 3,000-sq ft retail store. You can also eat outside by the pool or even enjoy a spot of gambling in the pool casino located at the GO Pool! At the Margaritaville Casino at the Flamingo, guests feel the energy of the Las Vegas strip while enjoying the laid-back vibe of the islands.

My room smelt of vomit, and over the course of 4 days and repeated calls to Guest Services they were terribly apologetic but didn't actually fix the problem. I've now spent 4 hours trying to resolve the issue since midnight and they agreed to let me move rooms only... they can't because all 3600 rooms are booked. So I get another night in the vomit room. I'd just leave the hotel but it's a corporate booking and it's not easy. "Guest Services" would arrange for people to come and inspect the room for the smell, who would always take 2h+ to arrive, then they'd stand in one place and they couldn't smell it so it didn't exist. I can't tell you how frustrating the experience has been. Honestly, it's not worth any possible savings that you might get coming here. You might be lucky, it might be fine, but if anything is wrong, the staff aren't going to help fix it. Just spend a little more money and don't come here. Don't risk your precious leave, and the cost of flights and all the other travel costs. The Flamingo is a genuinely terrible hotel. Read less

We have stayed at the Flamingo numerous times over the past decade. This most recent trip, however, has led us to decide to never again stay at the Flamingo. We arrived on Wednesday, 11/27 and got into our room. The following evening, Thursday, 11/28, I noticed water running down the inside of the shower stall, but thought nothing of it so we left our room to go out. We returned 2 hours later to find water all over our bathroom floor. I called Guest Services to report the leak and was told that someone from engineering would be there shortly. An hour passed, and still no engineering. I called Guest Services again, reported the leak again, and was told that engineering would come take care of it. about 15 minutes later, a maintenance worker arrived. He assessed the situation and determined that there was a water leak from the floor above. He left to check the room above us. A few minutes later, a second maintenance worker arrived and radioed the first guy who said he couldn't access the room above us due to a Do Not Disturb sign on the door (it was approximately 10:30 by the time they first got to our room). Maintenance guy #2 said he was going to the floor above that. 10 more minutes, and he says he can't access that room either due to a DND sign. So here we are, almost 11PM, and no solution in sight. Maintenance guy leaves, and I call Guest Services for a 3rd time to update them on the situation. I told GS that I was unwilling to remain in the flooded room because I didn't want to accidentally slip and fall during the night and seriously injure myself. GS told me I'd have to go downstairs to the front desk to see if we could be relocated. We went downstairs and had to wait approximately 20 more minutes to talk to the front desk. I explained the situation (again) and stated that I wanted a different, non-flooded room. I was told that the hotel was "sold out" and that they couldn't move us. I told them that was unacceptable, so she went to get her manager. 10 more minutes passed (now it's close to Midnight) and finally she returns to give us a new room. We had to pack all our stuff and relocate to a room in a different tower. I thought this was a good solution, until Friday 11/29 when my wife wanted to take a shower at the end of the day. She turned on the shower, and was nearly scalded by excessively hot water that would not turn any cooler. I again called Guest Services, told them the problem, and was told that Engineering would come take care of it. We finished getting ready for dinner, left a note for maintenance, and left, assuming that the problem would be solved by the time we came back. When we returned to our room over 6 hours later, we found that nothing had been repaired and no one had even bothered to come to our room. We went to bed. The next morning, Saturday 11/30, we got up, packed and Went downstairs. We stopped by the bellman and asked who we needed to speak with regarding our terrible room accommodations. He told us we'd have to wait in the extremely long line for Guest Services to lodge a complaint. We were reticent to waste yet more of our vacation time, so we left. I checked my electronic bill, and it appeared as though I was charged a higher rate for the "new" room because it was a junior suite, so I filed a complaint with the BBB citing the terrible accommodations and unsound business practices exacted upon us by Caesars/Flamingo. I refuse to waste my hard-earned money on a corporation that simply does not care about the upkeep and quality of its facilities. Additionally, I have taken every opportunity to tell everyone I come into contact with that Caesars/Flamingo is definitely a place to steer clear of when visiting Las Vegas. Read less

They didn't clean out room both days that we were there. Had to call 3 times & finally I just requested towels. Room was already paid for & they asked me for a credit just incase we got anything else, without explaining it was for a resort fee & they charge a additional charge per day for that.

I've stayed here before and really liked it, but this time it seems to be going downhill. I was in a renovated Flamingo room on the 26th floor, great views, comfortable bed etc. Heating in the room worked fine (cold outside and I love a warm room) Hot water on the other hand, that's a different story. I was there 5 nights, 2 nights it worked perfectly, 3rd night nothing. Had 2 maintenance guys up at 2 separate occasions, the only advice they could give was to run the water for a long time. One night that didn't work at all, rest of the time it got warm after about 15 min of running it. What a waste of water, fix the system instead! Cleanliness could be improved, the vent was very dusty and I saw a contact lens on the floor! Overall ok cleaned though and it's nice to have a fridge. Bedding could be improved, just a blanket between sheets, no real duvet. Big plus points of course is the location, smack in the middle of everything and a lively casino which I enjoy. Quick drink service. Resort fees should be taken off, there is no pool and since the hot water was not working most of the time... Read less
