Flamingo

The Strip, Las Vegas

Virgin rating

The hotel

This historic hotel was built by Vegas legend, Bugsy Siegel back in 1946 and it's seen countless celebrities walk through its doors in the last 60 years, as well as being the backdrop for the original Ocean's Eleven film and Viva Las Vegas. It has an amazing location right in the middle of The Strip and near the fantastic Caesars Forum Shops, with award-winning Flamingo Go Rooms. The hotel is great for kids with its amazing Beach Club Pool. The GO Pool offers a 21+ lively pool party experience with its amazing 15-acre tropical pool paradise, which has whirlpools and four different swimming pools nestled among the lush, green foliage. Then there's the Wildlife Habitat, where the resort's eponymous flamingos hang out with turtles, swans and ducks. There's a choice of eight restaurants including Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville and Margaritaville Casino, featuring the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar. Margaritaville is as much a state of mind as it is a place. The multi-level Caribbean-themed entertainment venue offers two outdoor patios overlooking the Las Vegas Strip, a nautical-themed restaurant, five distinctive bars, live entertainment nightly (both indoors and outdoors) and a 3,000-sq ft retail store. You can also eat outside by the pool or even enjoy a spot of gambling in the pool casino located at the GO Pool! At the Margaritaville Casino at the Flamingo, guests feel the energy of the Las Vegas strip while enjoying the laid-back vibe of the islands.

I arrived early and was told I'd need to come back as there are no clean rooms present; ceck my bags and come back 4h later, but they've apparently booked my room. So they downgrade me to a dirty room

Honestly, I don’t have enough time or space on this page to write about the horrible experience we had here. The front desk supervisor would not even help us. She was the most rudest customer service person I’ve ever come across. She was just one of the many rude people here who must hate their job because they looked miserable and treated us so… Read more

She was the most rudest customer service person I’ve ever come across. She was just one of the many rude people here who must hate their job because they looked miserable and treated us so poorly. Not to mention, we paid for a certain room category and half the furniture wasn’t even in there. They wanted to deduct only $20 a day for this, but we ended up with receiving nothing discounted. I will definitely spread the word in the travel agent community to not send clients here. Read less

I reserved a room at the Flamingo and paid extra for the "King premium room" due to the beautiful pictures they had online. When we arrived, the room was NOT like the pictures they had shown when booking the reservation. The floor to ceiling windows that spanned a whole wall in the pictures, were in fact three windows crammed in the corner of the room. We talked to management immediately to complain, and they said they knew that the pics were not representative of the vast majority of the premium king rooms. When we asked for a discounted price—since we would have never upgraded our room knowing what we would eventually be staying in—and they said there was nothing they could do. The room was also in pretty rough shape for being “newly remodeled”. We didn’t have hot water for half our stay—it took two calls to guest services to get someone to fix it. When they came they left the floor muddy that we had to clean up. Multiple lights did not work and the majority of the outlets were pulling out of the walls/furniture which is a major electrical shock hazard. I would NOT feel comfortable staying with children in this room. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Great position on the strip but other areas could be improved.

Best thing about this hotel is the position on the strip, about halfway and easy to go left or right for whatever you need. The staff attitude was mixed some great some pretty bad, no reception area to ask general queries so had to join the check in / out queue for help. Best thing about this hotel is the position on the strip, about halfway and easy to go left or right for whatever you need. The staff attitude was mixed some great some pretty bad, no reception area to ask general queries so had to join the check in / out queue for help. There was a conference at the hotel and it seemed very overwhelming at times from people just visiting the hotel and not staying there. Had a problem on the first night with the battery on the door running out so couldn’t access the room had to chase the repair man 3 times and waited over an hour for someone to fix it. Was given $40 food credit as compensation for this and used it in a restaurant in the hotel only to be told that it wasn’t included in the offer so had to pay instead. We were in one of the new GO rooms which was fine but could have done with a coffee machine. Overall was worth staying at on the basis it’s probably one of the cheaper strip, hotels but in one of the best positions. Read less

The oldest casino on the strip has lost all of its old Vegas hospitality. My wife and I got married at the Flamingo last week (Aug 5th) and we had our entire wedding party stay at the hotel as well. We are colorful people and love the old Vegas feel so the Flamingo was a perfect venue for us. The wedding team is phenomenal at the Flamingo (shout out to Vaughn and Rachel), but the hotel side is where everything falls apart. My wife and I are Caesar's members and we play enough so we were able to get a good rate on one of the bigger rooms they had available. As the wedding week approached I called to see if there were any upgrades available. I told them we were getting married on the grounds and everyone in our wedding party was staying there as well. I know they get people saying that kind of stuff all the time so I wasn’t expecting much, but I had to try. I was told by the person they had nothing available unless I wanted to pay $1500 more for a slightly bigger room. They told me I would have better luck at check in and they would put a note on there about wanting an upgrade and getting married etc. I also had to call to get a crib set up in our room. We unfortunately had to bring our baby to Vegas because everyone that we trusted to watch him was at the wedding. I had to call three different people because the first two told me there was a chance they wouldn’t have any cribs available when we checked in and I would be out of luck. They seemed annoyed that I was even asking them to do anything. Finally the third person was able to set a crib off to the side and continuously reminded us that this was not company policy. When we finally checked in it was late and the person told us to check with someone in the morning for a room upgrade. The room they did put us in was on the 11th floor facing the courtyard. The carpet in the hallway was completely coming up all the way down the hall and we got a non-smoking room that someone who had just left was smoking in. We gathered that by the ash and burn marks on the couch. The crib was also a travel/collapsible playpen with next to no mattress support. Our room had dirt and debris everywhere as well. In the morning I talked with someone at the front desk and told them all the issues we were having and again I was treated as if I were annoying them and was told they had nothing available. I asked if there was anything they could offer us and again I was denied. I would like to clarify that I was not asking for a suite or for free. An upgrade at this point would have been the same room, on a higher level, a strip view, and clean. Any of the above really. I asked to speak with a supervisor and I was told to call guest services to write a formal complaint and someone would get back to me. It has been one week and I have heard nothing at this point. My wife and I go to Vegas at least 2 to 3 times a year and we really wanted to find a hotel we can go back to and feel welcomed at and Flamingo missed the mark every time. We stayed at New York New York for my 30th birthday and we mentioned that at check in. The person wished me a happy birthday, gave us 2 bags of chocolate, a bottle of champagne, a $50 slot voucher and a $50 dining voucher. All of that for a birthday and we have stayed there since because of that encounter. It is so easy to make people feel appreciated and welcome and it seemed as if the Flamingo went out of their way to be unhelpful at every turn and it left a very sour taste in our mouth. It will certainly be a place we never stay at again. We may be done with Caesar’s properties in general if this is how they run things. Read less
