The Strip, Las Vegas

Virgin rating

The hotel

Las Vegas excels at delivering the impossible in wonderful ways. Where else can you touch down in the Mojave desert and, within 15 minutes, find yourself being serenaded on a gondola ride to St Mark’s Square? A magnificent greatest hits of Venice’s architecture and canals located in the middle of The Strip, the all-suite Venetian is probably the most romantic hotel in Vegas, so let yourself be seduced. Wonder how you ever managed to stay in anything smaller than a suite before, enjoy a meal from one of the Michelin-starred restaurants, walk hand in hand down the Grand Canal shopping esplanade or party the night away in one of the many bars and nightclubs.

The Venetian is a beautiful resort. However, when we travelled with several couples last week we were told by the agent checking us in that he would upgrade us to a higher level suite if we were willing to walk "three minutes" to the Palazzo. What we discovered is that the walk was more like 15 minutes through two casinos with luggage and the room was exactly the same as the other couples we were traveling with who only had to turn around and hop on an elevator. I wouldn't be leaving a bad review if the person checking us in didn't make such a big deal about the upgrade and the minimal walk - both of which were lies. Read less

Surprised at the quality of the whole place, having read other reviews I wasn’t expecting too much, great gym and fitness centre, pools on level 4 are really nice! Tobacco smoke in casino areas not as bad as some of the other big venues . Sphere is well worth visiting. Restaurants are ok but a little expensive

If you're thinking of staying somewhere else in Vegas - DON'T. We've stayed at the Venetian several years ago, but had drifted to other Strip locations for recent trips. Staying here again just cemented in our minds Venetian is, hands down, the best of Vegas. Casino was fantastic. I am far from a major player, yet my first day on the floor one of the hosts, Luke, sought out and personally welcomed me. Wow. My husband is a poker player and thinks the new poker room is fantastic. It's away from the noise and smoke of the main floor, and convenient for food, has self-serve drinks, and its own restroom. Customer service shone at the Venetian from check-in staff to house keeping. Our room was immaculate and we always felt welcome. Speaking of rooms, ours was a "regular" king suite, yet it was spacious and luxuriously appointed. If I had a tiny complaint it would be that the shower lacked water pressure, but that's quibbling. There are too many amenities to mention, especially for dining and shops. You could happily spend your entire Vegas trip here without ever leaving the resort. Speaking of resorts, I had the best massage of my life at Canyon Ranch. It was the 75 minute hot stone and heaven on earth. My provider was Leydis, I believe. I wanted to go back to her the next day but she was booked. Heaven! The pool area was crowded, but drinks could be ordered on the app. Service was quick, and drinks/food were great. Get the sliders! You'll thank me. The Tao beach club was just over the wall, and if you're looking for serenity, go to a pool further away (there are at least 6). I personally enjoyed the club music. One thing, though, is they closed the pool at 6, which is a bit early. Lastly, we brought first time, value conscious friends on the trip. They literally walked to every casino on the Strip and agreed the Venetian was the best of all. Yay! We will be back soon, Venetian. You guys definitely understand the assignment. Cheers to a perfect stay! Read less

Upon arrival I learned that there was a daily $50.00 "Resort Fee" (that turned out to be $56.69 a day) that was never previously mentioned. Just how I want to start a get away, getting mugged before I even get to my room. Everything was over priced and lounge chairs were 55.00 a day! It felt like being on a cruise...where "the company" owns everything and you cannot get away from them. The music at many of the pools was blaring rap electronic noise. I did purchase "the package" via Southwest Airlines. The Venetian acted like they "neva met da guy". Never again. Read less
