The New York EDITION

Midtown, New York

The hotel

A taste of elite New York living, the residential feel of The New York EDITION sets it apart from your average Manhattan hotel. Inside an historic clocktower, near the Flatiron building and Madison Square Park, its grand interiors are swathed in neutral, warm, ivory and oatmeal. The elegant guestrooms are just as decadent, featuring oversized windows, rain showers, complimentary WiFi, 48” HDTVs, and BEATS Bluetooth speakers. Its spa is reserved exclusively for hotel guests, but there’s no keeping New York’s gastro-aficionados from The Clocktower: with Michelin starred Jason Atherton at the helm, its classic-meets-contemporary British menu is served in three exquisite dining rooms (and the Lobby Bar). The centrepiece of the dining experience is the Gold Bar, with its gilt-framed photos, 3 foot globe chandelier, glistening cocktails, and 24k gold leaf bar ensuring it lives up to its name.

So happy this place has re-opened. The lobby bar is one of a kind and so well decorated that you feel like you’re in another country. Service has always been excellent and really nice to see they brought back many members of the bar from before Covid. The Friday and Saturday Dj keeps the mood great and also it’s a great place to talk and be able… Read more

I originally booked a two bedroom hotel room for my friends and I but upon arriving to the hotel there was a slight mix up with the room. We checked in with Shonella at the front desk and she was quick to resolve the issue! The customer service was unparalleled and they even upgraded our room to the PH because of the mix up. I cannot stress how lovely and accommodating Shonella and her colleagues were. The room was stunning and I can honestly say I had one of the best birthdays. Thank you again Shonella and everyone at The Edition, I will surely be back soon. Read less

We had a perfect stay here! It was the best oasis to base ourselves out of for a busy weekend bopping around the city. Peter was particularly helpful and was always willing to help us find the courtesy car, point us in the right direction, and make us feel welcome. Peter was particularly helpful and was always willing to help us find the courtesy car, point us in the right direction, and make us feel welcome. All staff (doormen, front desk, room cleaning) were so kind, prompt, and welcoming. The room was beautiful and spacious, and the bathroom was massive! We had a lovely cocktail hour at the bar one night and the waitstaff + bartender were attentive, hospitable, and accommodating. 10/10 will return! Read less

I've already spoken with the Director of Operations (Seemed genuinely apologetic about the issues below): -The Hotel does not offer Valet Parking (this may be temporary but was extremely inconvenient for me) -The Hotel does have self-parking, however, it's about .5 miles from the hotel -Staff didn't seem to care if you had to walk from the garage in the rain (no car service offered). I really thought the parking situation and the failure to mitigate during bad weather was an extremely poor taste for a 5-Star Hotel. -Manager and staff seemed overwhelmed with handling check-ins. When I checked in, the manager on duty mentioned they were understaffed (maybe the reason for no greeting or welcome). -Poor quality of sleep due to dirty room (caked dust picture attached) -Treadmill in the gym needs some serious maintenance (both open treadmills was like running on loose blocks) Suggestions for Management: - Be clear on your website about what to expect at your hotel (Don't bait and switch on your customers), clearly state on your website that Valet Service is not available and the parking garage is some distance from the hotel. - Train staff on basic professionalism (being short-staffed is not an adequate excuse for the failure of service) -Train housekeeping on how to properly clean during COVID or just clean in general (Not sure how that much dust above the headboard was missed). -Fix all broken equipment in your gym. These issues would have to be addressed before I plan a return. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating I used to love this hotel

Jun 1, 2021 Sue2356 New York City, New York

This hotel has gone downhill fast. I used to love staying here but this time nothing seemed to go right. The room, including the closet, was so dark that we had to use our iPhone flashlights to see inside. Housekeeping is non existent and the staff is patronizing.
