Image of the Tripadvisor rating Wouldn't really consider it a family friendly hotel

Came with a 2 year old and pets. Picked this hotel for easy access to San Diego Zoo. Overall don't recommend for families. The hotel room had a fridge with no freezer which wasn't ideal as I needed to freeze freezer packs for milk for our travel cooler. And even if the floor offered ice the makeshift ziplock bags of ice didn't work well... Also as… Read more

And even if the floor offered ice the makeshift ziplock bags of ice didn't work well... Also as a hotel that is pet friendly it would have been nice to have a dog relieving area in the hotel instead of walking dogs outside downtown (as some dogs like to relieve themselves on lawns/fake lawns instead of streets) Overall this hotel is fine if you are here for business, couples (not with kids/pets), and if you are not driving with a car (as parking garage fee/valet is hefty) Read less

The room was ok. I liked having the small sitting area. The bathroom was pretty spacious however privacy is lacking as there’s no door and the shower has a glass wall looking into main area. There’s a curtain fortunately so I didn’t mind too much however it’s worth mentioning because others might. I’ve seen this in European hotels and didn’t stay… Read more

There’s a curtain fortunately so I didn’t mind too much however it’s worth mentioning because others might. I’ve seen this in European hotels and didn’t stay there because of it. Also we have the same floor tiles at home and could see the grout needed cleaning. But The main reason for the low rating was the noise. We were facing the front and there was a lot of street noise all night long. Loud talking, laughing, music (was a band at one point), cars, etc. given the price we expected a better experience so wouldn’t stay here again. Honestly I considered 2 stars but I figure maybe another room would be better so I went with 3 since it’s not like it was terrible. Read less

Stayed here last weekend of August. Had a great stay with small dog, where the fee was waived. Even a dog bed provided. Central location in gaslamp district. Pool was beautiful and felt safe with distance and cleaning. Towels were wrapped and pool was beautiful on rooftop. Great sun exposure. No mini bar services typical of andaz properties but understandable at this time. Had a great check in experience and check out. Forgot desk agents name, marianne? Began with an M I believe, was helpful throughout with telling me doordash drop-off came and bottles of water provided. Great experience will return if ever in San Diego again. Read less

We recently stayed here during COVID for two nights on the weekend. Check-in was easy (use the Hyatt mobile app to save time) and my Hyatt status was recognized by giving us a larger room in the same category. Our two double bed room was a courtyard facing corner room and I would recommend asking for it if you have booked a two double bed room as it provides more space and the two beds are adequately spaced out from each other to provide some distance. Not sure if this was a function of COVID, the hotel being at capacity or something else, but the vendor who provides valet parking service needs major improvement. Every time we called for our vehicle it took around 30-45 minutes to arrive. Because it is a vendor, the hotel staff really have no ability to improve the response time. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful through out our stay and addressed the two minor issues we encountered appropriately. They are doing a great job with the new COVID procedures and mandates and we felt very comfortable during our stay. Read less

We stayed in a deluxe king room and it was gorgeous, probably one of my top stays. Totally recommend, clean, beautiful, Andy great service. My husband and I were very satisfied with our last min booking at Andaz!
