We were allowed to check in early due to our flight, very greatful for that. But we booked a king room and ended up with a queen that was smaller than a college dorm room, when asked if we could switch, it wasn't going to be available until night 3 of our 4 night stay. The room was very small, could barely get on either side, no room for luggage or anything but yourself. Shower / bath area was nice but also very small. We were also allowed a late checkout for a $57 fee which we were greatful as well, but needed to itemize my receipt - when I called afterwards to do this, I was told it can only be done at or before checkout - it is now impossible to change. Staff were very friendly and it was very clean, but I think we'd stay somewhere else in the Gaslamp District if we were to go again. Read less

Overall hotel was very nice in all areas except the room had no door to the shower/sink area and you the wall that separated the shower from the bed was all glass. A bit too open for my taste. There was a curtain to close it off but still a little odd.

Great business trip, the rooms were very clean. A little small, but the location, food, and rooftop pool were really a great feature. Lots of bars and restaurants in the gas lamp district. A little noisy at night but they give you ear plugs

Great hotel, perfect location and the best rooftop bar, pool and hangout area. Fantastic view. Although the rooms are on the smaller side they area beautifully appointed. Bed was comfy and shower was huge.

Where do I start? I have been trying different hotel chains and thought that I found one in Hyatt that was clean and had an honest staff. This is my third stay in about a year at Hyatt and the other two experiences were excellent so this is very frustrating to write. Let me start by saying that all seemed to be fine until 3 or 4 days into our trip we had room service come to the door and accused us of smoking. My fiancé answered the door and I was in the shower. She explained it was probably just from the steam from my shower as I was taking a long shower in the awesome shower. At that point I thought that the issue was over. The next day since we did not have room service they were calling and knocking on the door despite the do not disturb being on the door. This was followed by multiple other attempts to clean the room even though we prefer not to have the room cleaned unless we are in the room due to items coming up missing from other stays. This was followed by a welfare check because we did not have room cleaned. At the end of the stay when we checked out they added a $250 room charge because of smoking. First we never smoked in the room. Second when we checked in there was a smoke eater in the room from apparent previous smoking(Probably why they smelled smoke in room despite us not smelling or smoking anything). I was told by the Manager that security had smelt smoke in our wing which had several hotel rooms. After no cooperation from the Manager I told him that I would no longer be staying at Hyatt and he seemed fine with that in fact he was no help whatsoever. The other issue was this area was very noisy and I was not told this would be the case. Earplugs were provided but if I had known the noise would have been as bad as it was I would have booked a room elsewhere. I am extremely frustrated and will be filing a dispute with my credit card over the $250 charge. Had I had known we would be charged this fee we would have saved ourselves the walk to around the corner to smoke on several occasions. This is absolutely ridiculous and I will do everything in my power to stay somewhere besides Hyatt the next time after all I did not stay at the Hyatt to stay in a motel. And the final kicker my fiancé had her reading glasses come up missing which is exactly why we do not usually allow cleaning staff in our room unattended. These were not that expensive and I am glad I put everything else in the safe but it is the principal. We asked Read less
