This is the second time I have celebrated a birthday at the Bahia. This time though we celebrated on the William D Evans stern wheeler boat. What an AWESOME time we had. Starting with the planning which I was a part of. Heather Dobler sales manager pure delight and very helpful. Jenna was the catering manager very very helpful and easy to work with. Jorge Macias (banquet manager) did a fantastic job with the food and the food was delicious. Thank you so much everyone for making this Anna’s best surprise party ever! I’m a SD native and we frequently visit the Tangier’s bar for a cocktail or two. I give the Bahia 5+ stars. Thank you everyone! Read less

We used to stay at The Bahia for work conferences throughout the 1990s & early 2000s. We remembered it as a well-located, well-maintained resort so, when we had to come back to San Diego recently, we thought we'd book in at The Bahia again. Big mistake! Our negative experience started at check-in with a cold, officious young woman who never cracked a smile during our entire interaction with her. The biggest disappointment, though, was with our room. We opened our door to a hot, stuffy, dark space that smelled unpleasantly like mildew or mold. We were surprised that the room was so hot because we could definitely hear the out-dated air conditioner clanking and wheezing (it kept us up at night through our entire stay). The bathroom was incredibly small. There is no counter space at all, not even room for a small shaving kit or cosmetics bag (the small tray with the hotel shampoos & the extra towels were balanced on the back of the toilet). There was a crack in the sink, the toilet seat was broken, the floor tiles were worn & cracked, & the rubber shower mat was moldy. There is no electric plug in the bathroom so I ended up drying my hair in the area outside the bathroom over the coffee pot & refrigerator. The room had all of its amenities when we checked in but, on our second day, housekeeping left us with no wash cloths, no conditioner, & no regular coffee. Small details, but they speak to the general neglect & "don't care" attitude of the hotel. We definitely won't be back. Read less
