This hotel is not what it used to be. Dated, lack of service, dirty room, non functioning bathroom and false claim of view. Please see my pictures of the balcony view of the pool as the website claims you get with a suite. This hotel is in horrible shape and definitely not worth 350-400 a night. They should be ashamed.

Top of the line linens, towels, shower, etc. Only complaint was the faucet on/off was a pain to be sure. There was an in room coffee maker with free coffee, a bar if you wished to purchase from it, free internet access, etc. I mention the in room coffee and internet access because I stayed at a 5 star property (The Clancy in San Francisco) 2… Read more

There was an in room coffee maker with free coffee, a bar if you wished to purchase from it, free internet access, etc. I mention the in room coffee and internet access because I stayed at a 5 star property (The Clancy in San Francisco) 2 nights later and neither was offered. Paying for internet in a 5 star property seems like gouging to me and I remain pleased that the Hard Rock didn't play that game. I stayed here because of the hotel's proximity to Petco Park and boy was it "proximate"! LOL Read less

This place is sad . Not in a gothic cool stylish sort of way. Melancholy can be doable. This is something else altogether. I don't even know how to describe this place. Desperate for business and unauthentic/insincere. If people in your party insist in staying here let them find out for themselves but do yourself a favor and get anywhere else for yourself. The style, the staff , the food, the vibe, the swag...DEAD. I thought Hard Rock had some sort of guidelines ... Read less

The Hard Rock hotel was a great experience for a week in San Diego. Can't beat the location in the gaslamp quarter; it's within walking distance to tons of restaurants and shops as well as right next to Petco Park. I stayed in the float studio with is the standard room with a spacious patio overlooking the pool deck. Only things that kept me from giving the hard rock 5 stars were minor things in the room. The fridge is a mini bar and it wasn't even cold, so I had to keep grabbing ice from the 5th floor to keep drinks cold. The shower attachment in our room didn't turn off so the resulting pressure from the rain head was fairly weak, and it didn't drain fast so the bathroom would flood for a short time. Our door handle to the patio was also broken, so it was hard to open the door and hard to lock it. All of these were minor and I would recommend this hotel to everyone if you come to San Diego. The Hard Rock Hotel San Diego has THE most amazing staff. Amy in sales helped us create the most beautiful and special wedding reception, complete with a custom menu that all of our guests said was hands down the BEST wedding food they’ve ever had. Ben checked us in and made us feel so welcome and special. David helped us and my parents with their luggage - he was always near by like some kind of bell-hop ninja. I worked for the Hard Rock Cafe in college (many moons ago) and it has been very apparent that Hard Rock staff here works as a big family. Leslie made sure that our guests could access parking on a Padres game night (which is no simple task) and she directed every transition throughout the evening seamlessly. The awesome RSA in the Rock Shop was super patient and friendly as I dithered over which new handbag I wanted (I ended up choosing the beaded record player!). MaryJane’s has super tasty eats which were much enjoyed this post-wedding morning. I wish I could remember every staff member’s name to leave each of them a Rave Review; I hope that the Powers that Be in Hard Rock corporate know and appreciate the immense value of their employees here. If you’re looking to plan a wedding or any other type of event in San Diego, you can stop your search at the Hard Rock’s door! Read less
