I never write reviews - and needed to jump on here to say OLIVIA at the Hard Rock Downtown SD is incredible. Such a joy, so professional, and INSANELY accommodating. I have worked in customer service/hospitality for 12 years and rarely see a shining star like this gal. She truly helped turn our work stay into a wonderful experience. May I also… Read more

I have worked in customer service/hospitality for 12 years and rarely see a shining star like this gal. She truly helped turn our work stay into a wonderful experience. May I also point out that Courtney was outstanding. Also kind and accommodating. These gals were so great, I'm planning to go back in two weeks! Read less

When I booked the hotel, the website offered a $50 food and beverage credit. This was confirmed when checking in and I was told that could be used at any of the hotels bars or restaurants. Due to Covid, the only places open were MaryJanes diner (which only served to-go food) and the Float Bar - so we spent the afternoon at the float bar on the patio. Its a lovely setting, there were a lot of people and live music. We had a couple of drinks and then explored San Diego and had dinner at a local restaurant. We were celebrating our anniversary and I didn't want my dinner in a styrofoam container. When checking out the following morning, we were told that the $50 credit didn't apply at the Float Bar and that we could only use it at Mary Janes. We argued saying that we were promised it but the staff was insistent and then got a bit rude with us. It's not the $50 - it's the principal of it. Why offer it and then take it back. I just think that was incredibly rude and it turned me off the hotel. I will not be back. There are plenty of hotels that treat their customers better. Read less

The staff here is so professional and friendly. The rooms are beautiful and clean. It’s exceptional! I was in the middle of a move and I needed a landing spot before I could move into an apartment. The front desk staff moved all of my things upstairs for me and got me completely set up for a nice stay!

When times are difficult such as the current with the pandemic and now national emergency related to the coronavirus, the staff, General Manager, and Tyler in particular made our stay at the Hard Rock extremely enjoyable. The staff remains upbeat during this difficult time and provided much valuable information and referrals for dinner, museums, and other attractions. I would not hesitate to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel in the Gaslamp district again! Read less

If you ever go to beautiful San Diego for business or pleasure do not go to the Hard Rock Hotel in front of the Conference Center. The hotel lost the glamour of the brand, has young, ineffective, inexperienced and unprofessional crew. The hotel was almost empty still my team and I had long check-in and endless check-out. Due to extremely low occupancy the other hotels nearby offered discounts at the check-in despite the reservation with a higher fare. Hard Rock check-in people could not manage that. Other hotels offered better service and, mainly, a more effective customer service. The hotel charges for internet, water bottle, “resort fee” even if it doesn’t have the basic (a robe in the room or an umbrella to loan). Read less
