Really enjoyed the beautifully renovated king bed/ocean view with balcony room. Definitely worth the extra money spent for the view and bigger room. We are parents on a getaway from our kids and it was fantastic to be in such a beautiful space. The pools are beautiful but noisy and busy with loads of families...not so romantic and peaceful for a couple trying to escape. Perfect for families with children of all ages. The slides were closed during our stay. The rule of ordering a meal item with drinks are unrealistic and turns out to be very expensive. We only wanted a drink and ended up with below level shrimp cocktail that was uneatable and had to be sent back. The compensatory chicken nuggets were heavily breaded and not something I want to pay for...wish I could have just ordered our drinks alone instead of demanding that i order bad food. The service however, was fantastic...all waiters and front desk staff...even operator were fantastic. Tammy from Red Marlin Restaurant personifies great customer service and was ready to change or add anything desired. She is terrific at her job!! The grounds were beautifully maintained and a nice walk along the harbor with great views of the boat docks. I definitely will return in the future with my children and alone...but will refrain from intake of food and beverage. Read less

We stayed at Hyatt Regency Mission Bay for a total of 9-nights in mid July, 2020 (in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic). 5 nights in a king, tower balcony room on the 12th floor (#1212), and 4-nights in a family suite (#2008). The first 5 nights it was my husband and I and we really enjoyed the ocean view from our beautiful balcony. The last part of our vacation was with my son/DIL and 4 grandchildren in the family queen/queen suite. Overall we really enjoyed this trip and would definitely stay at the hotel again. Usually, I would give a higher rating, however there are some things that I want to mention. Due to COVID, you need to know there are changes in effect: no daily housekeeping service; you must wear a mask while walking around the property (you do not need to wear a mask if in the pool or on a lounger, however you must wear if you get up to order food/drink, use the restroom, walk to your room, etc.); if you need new sheets, towels, garbage bags, just call the front desk and they will have someone deliver and leave outside your door (you dispose of your soiled linens/towels by putting them outside your door as well); the water slides were closed down in the middle of our trip, before my gkids got there so that was a HUGE disappointment; the gift shop is closed; you can order take out only from the Red Fin (no sit down service, however they do have chairs/tables around the property you can use, and you can take back to the pool area as well); no valet (self-parking only. **there is free parking on street, with sign reflecting there is no parking 2-4 am, however we parked on the street all week with no problems. I'd say, park at your own risk, however we've always parked on street in our many stays at this hotel with never a problem); the hotel is sanitizing pool chairs, etc., as people leave, and there was never a shortage of available loungers so that is good (I believe the hotel is booking @ 50% capacity right now); to order a drink poolside, you must also order food, so this can get a little expensive (no outside drinks/food or coolers allowed). *Remember, parking $42 or $45 per day (cannot remember) and the resort fee can add up quickly. With the resort fee you get free rentals @ Mission Bay Sports Center (on location), 2 bottled waters, beach chairs/umbrellas (however they were not offering them due to COVID). Good: Beautiful view from tower balcony & all around the property, awesome customer service, close to beach, as well as Old Town, downtown, airport, etc. (you can walk to beach and/or bay if you like), free paddle boarding/kayaking for up to 4 guests; great market with Starbucks/breakfast items, candy, drinks, etc. Bad: The property is in need of a good cleaning/updating. In room 1212, the bathroom floor and balcony both needed a good sweeping (**it didn't look like the floors had been cleaned very good). In room 2008, there were stains in carpet and there was a lot of wear in bathroom area, the pull out sofa bed was SO uncomfortable, torn sheets, etc. The good definitely outweighed the bad, so we will stay here again when we come in July 2021. I'm hoping by then COVID will be under control, California will be more open and the hotel property will have had a thorough deep cleaning and sprucing up. Read less

My family and I are so thankful we live in San Diego. When we can, we love to plan Staycations and experience different properties in our city. We decided to book a weekend trip at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay and we were overwhelmed with the amazing experience. The moment we checked in, Anthony greeted us with a warm welcome! I am positive he was smiling behind his mask :) I was impressed at the safety precautions he was taking as he helped one guest in front of me and then sanitized his hands, put on a new pair of gloves and cleaned the counter prior to inviting me up to the glass. Anthony gave me a rundown of the property, parking and mapped out where my room was located. We booked the Corner Ocean View Suite...and it was Sweet! When we checked into our room, we were amazed! It was beautiful! We immediately walked out to the balcony and caught a gorgeous sunset! ::takes deep breath:: The views were immaculate!!! After an amazing nights rest, we walked down to the cafe and grabbed some coffee and croissants. We were greeted by an amazing barista, Silvia. She was so kind and patient as we couldn't decide on our order. :) After our coffee, we wanted to spend the day at the pool. The pool opened at 8am and we got there right when it opened. We were greeted by Justin as he was cleaning all of the chairs and making sure they were properly distanced. We engaged in a great conversation as he shared his enjoyment of working for the Hyatt Regency. He checked on us periodically throughout the day, as did our server, Tyler! Tyler was friendly and courteous and provided an excellent level of customer service! Our kids thought the water slides were the best thing about the hotel and they didn't want to leave. We literally spent almost nine hours at the pool! We enjoyed every moment of our stay! I can't say enough about this property and the staff! They are the reason we love the hospitality industry...because they were extremely hospitable. If you are looking for a place to stay in San Diego, look no further! This is by far my favorite property. Well done, Hyatt Regency Mission Bay! Read less

We loved everything about our stay here! My friends and I spent a weekend celebrating our 40th birthdays. Since my husband got us the room with his Hyatt points, we were able to enjoy all of his Globalist perks such as waived resort fees, valet parking, upgraded room and free breakfast at the Red Marlin. (Note: even though it’s a Regency, they do not have a Club Lounge anymore) We stayed in the main tower in a corner king ocean view suite. It was very spacious and so cozy to hang out there after a long day of sight-seeing. The views were so incredible of Mission Bay, Mission Beach and the Pacific Ocean. Loved waking up to the sunrise colors all around me! A review had mentioned loud noise in a corner room but we didn’t hear anything from ours and slept soundly. (The only bad part was when sitting on the couch one morning, we overheard the phone conversation of the guest next door since it has an adjoining door) The modern coastal decor throughout was great. The grounds were so pretty and peaceful, I felt like I could’ve been in Hawaii. There is a nice trail to walk on along the bay and marina with beautiful views. We arrived to the hotel early and since it was rainy weather, decided to get facials/massages at the Blue Marble Spa. Our room was ready for us by the time we were done, so it worked out perfectly. We loved the location of this hotel— It was very easy to get to the airport but felt quietly tucked away, only 4 minutes from Mission Beach, and was so easy to get to San Diego and La Jolla from there. Everyone that we encountered during our stay was so nice and helpful. Our experience with valet, check in, front desk, bellman, housekeeping, the spa and Red Marlin was top notch—just as to be expected from our favorite hotel chain. It is why we love and are so loyal to Hyatt, because of how we’re treated. I can’t wait to come back in the summer with my family so that we can take advantage of the waterslides, kayaks and paddle boards—it was just too chilly for us in February.;) Thank you Hyatt Mission Bay, until next time! Amazing time with great views over mission bay and mission beach. Super friendly staff from the front door, front desk, house keeping and restaurants. Nicely renovated rooms and everything one needs around. Thanks a lot and for sure, I will be back!
