Disappointed is an understatement. We selected The Fairmont Olympic as we were looking for a luxury weekend to celebrate two birthdays for a weekend in Seattle. Luxury is what we DID NOT receive. To start, we had called and confirmed valet was available and when we arrived we were told it was not available and we had to go around and over one block to park in another building. The doorman took our bags and held them for us while we went to park. The parking garage is not attached to the hotel and there was issue with getting in as the parking gate machine was not working. The arm was up and we eventually just went up and parked. We then walked back. What confused us was that we witnessed valet parking the rest of the stay.... he must not have felt up to it when we arrived. Check in was smooth but the hotel is under renovations so there was no lobby and no beautiful history to enjoy. Rooms were clean and spacious and our room had no view except some close large buildings which was fine as we were in the city. Beds were ok and pillows were amazing. The people were nice and the building is lovely. We made a reservation for the pool as instructed but are not sure why we needed to as there was no check in or attendant at the pool area and it was full of families and kids. Definitely not what we expected so we left. The kicker for the weekend was the hotel spa, Penelope’s Beauty Bar. We ALL (6 people) reserved spa packages that were not inexpensive and all had negative experiences. I will only speak from my experience. Covid has somewhat affected the experience which I expected. The waiting room is nothing short of disappointing with a few chairs spaced apart in an open central area surrounded by treatment rooms. There was no attendant to check in on the waiting area or to offer water or tea (which is not available for self serve). I was actually never offered water at all following any of my treatments! I had reserved a Swedish massage and had a massage therapist who ended up bruising me with what I can only imagine was a good deep tissue massage. I had to continue to ask for lighter pressure. Definitely not the relaxing experience I expected. Instead I was almost jumping off the table. I know some like that but NOT ME! I then had an infrared light sauna which was a strange luke warm 20 min. sauna pod that you lay in. Kind of confused by that one so can’t complain. Last, I was very excited about my facial! She was very pleasant and I left with my face feeling good but I’m used to completing a skin assessment beforehand and understanding what the plan was. That didn’t happen. It was like she looked at my skin and “whipped something up”. It was different to say the least. After she was done she walked me out to have a seat. No water, no explanation, and left to pull products that she “suggested” I purchase. I finally awkwardly wandered out and down the hall to the cashier. After charging to the room I was told I would have a receipt sent under my door that evening. Nothing. All in all it was not a positive experience and we paid WAY too much for what we actually received. I will be back when the lobby is open to see it and grab a cocktail but will be staying elsewhere. Just my 2 (or much more) cents. Read less

We spent one night at Fairmont Olympic hotel in Seattle for the weekend getaway with my daughters. We chose this hotel due to its history and we had a good experience before. The people at the front desk and the doorman were very professional and friendly. The room looked nice at first but after staying an hour or so we realized that our black pants and socks had white cat hair all over. I looked at the floor carefully and saw lots of cat hair. Obviously the housekeeping team didn’t vacuum the room. We called the front desk and requested a room change and they moved our room to a different floor. We made a reservation for using the pool and went there at the reserved time. We found that there were a lot of guests at the pool and jacuzzi and it was over the Covid capacity that was displayed on the wall. We felt uncomfortable and left the pool. It seems like guests were not following the time because there was no staff to check. We wanted to give the hotel 5 stars but not this time unfortunately. Read less

I was extremely disappointed that I had contacted the hotel several weeks before my arrival, and I had informed them that I will be arriving at 11PM. To my surprise when I arrived with a rental car, apparently a luxury hotel, that I had booked under American Express Fine Hotels had NO valet parking or even Parking there. I had to get off the car and walk to the front desk to figure out what was happening. It was then, that I was told that I had to park two blocks from the hotel, and I had to carry my suitcases in the middle of the night in an unknown location. Throughout my vacation I stayed at the Fairmont, The Nines (Portland) and the Ritz Carlton in Half Bay Moon. This was the only property that did not provide parking/valet service, and also no cleaning services during my stay. If I had been informed ahead of time, of this subpar NON luxury service, I would have completely stayed somewhere else I will never stay at a Fairmont Hotel property again. Read less

I love staying at the fairmont when I am in the Seattle area. Classy old school luxury is timeless. The check in was efficient and quick and I was fortunate to get a nice upgrade to my room. Thank you too all the staff for making my stay lovely.

Please make sure you confirm things multiple times with each agent since they gave us conflicting information. Do not order in room dining if you have other options. Make sure you tell them ten times about what you expect from your stay. We spoke to five different agents before going and cancelled our other hotel reservation based on their promise to make our 10 year anniversary celebration special. They didnt do anything for it or to make us have a pleasant experience. They gave us a sad excuse for an apology by blaming it on the weather which mind you id one not good enough for a business in the service industry, two does not make sense for a hotel of their caliber, endless years of experience and three because we expect a certain minimum bar to be reached when we make a reservation at a hotel like theirs.
